As I said, you should know how far you are willing to go before carrying a gun. If you are willing to use a gun in self defense, I defy a person of whatever size to grab it from you without bleeding. You have bought the arguement of anti-gun people. This is not a matter of strength.
If you are not willing to use a gun, it is better not to have, because in that moment of hesitation another person could wrestle it from you.
There are quick access safes that keep others from getting to it. They allow the person who knows the combination to get to their gun in seconds.
I've also looked down the barrel of a loaded gun, which I found to be unpleasant. This hasn't kept me from owning my own. To each their own. You need to know yourself and what you can do.

Look up use of force laws in your area. Believe it or not, showing a knife to scare a guy away counts as brandishing if your DA chooses to see it that way. Illegal. However, if the situation justifies using force to defend yourself (in the eyes of the law) it is okay. Kind of screwy.

Are tasers legal in your area?

As nietzche said, it is a matter of attitude. Your dog is simply too friendly.
A small dog with a loud bark and bad attitude is better than a friendly sheep dog. At the least the bit will be a distraction.
Some dogs are just suspicious of strangers and tend to block them (from you) until they are told the person is a friend. Some are also very sensitive to attitude and get their hackles up when something is wrong. This is they type I mean.
I just like a medium size dog for a combination of factors: reasonable long life, usually smart enough (big dogs don't seem so bright), and a bite worth talking about.

Don't signal the escalation of your defences. When you have to use them, use them, don't just warn about it (one more move and I'll spray you). That just takes away your advantage of suprise and preperation.
If you have to fight, remember that a large part of fighting is attitude. Do it without concern about him - if fighting is justified, that will be too. Too many are afraid of doing real damage to their attacker (crazy, but it happens).
Almost anything solid is a weapon.
It is better to get away than to fight.

Best of luck. Hope you stay safe.

I'm sure a lot of them do, mostly I think because society looks down on porn and pornstars.

Interesting thread christie! - I'm glad you got this discussion started (but sorry you had to go through the stalker incident).

Funny thing is, I was just re-reading an older thread about an ADTer who saw the lovely Brianna Blaze at a strip club in Ohio and actually was able to hang out with her there (even got a lap dance from her). I've semi-seriously entertained the idea of a road trip to Ohio ever since that thread appeared! To me, it seems like the perfect way to see Brianna "in the flesh". I always assume that making a trip like that would be a total crapsoot. By the time I get there, she may no longer be stripping there. She might not want to spend time with any fans. Maybe she's soured on the whole porn experience. Who knows? How much time I interacted with her would be totally up to her.

Stalking is another thing entirely.

In my misspent youth, I confess to having done some low-level stalking of ex-girlfriends - drive-bys to see if they were home or out - that kind of stupid shit. It always endded up making me feel worse. And it was usually driven by desperation and anger. The object of my love-sickness never even knew about it.

The kind of thing that happened to you is altogether different, and I agree that you should take steps to protect yourself - report it to the police, get pepper spray, etc.. We have a lot of really crazy folks here in the good ol' US of A. And it's better to be safe that sorry.

You seem like a such a sweet and friendly person (in addition to being jaw-droppingly hot! ), and perhaps that gives people ideas about approaching you that they might not otherwise entertain.

I hope this guy keeps his distance. We don't want you to have any negative experiences associated with porn. We ADTers want you to keep making smokin' scenes for a long time!

If you are not willing to use a gun, it is better not to have, because in that moment of hesitation another person could wrestle it from you.

To croy, I'm not basing my opinion on what the anti-gun lobby thinks, but on my own experiences. I've been stalked by a man who was emotionally troubled, and I can tell you, I would not have wanted to get into any violent confrontation with him, he was too unpredictable, and bigger than me. Plus, he had threatened other men at work, and was put on probation once for getting into a fistfight with a personnel supervisor.

That being said, if any woman wants to carry a gun or knife, then she's got to be willing to use it without hesitation, and not just to make threats to see if the guy gets the hint and goes away. Frankly, I think a gun is better, if you can get a permit to carry a concealed weapon (I don't know about CA laws). Using a knife means getting within inches of the man, which is way too close in my estimation.

I just thougtht of two other ideas for Christie: tell your agent about this man. The man might be trying to contact you, or get information about you, acting like he's in the porn industry.

The other thing you could do is ask another man (preferably a tall one) to go with you on some of your dog walks. The creepy guy, if he sees you out with a man, might think you are involved with someone, and then get the idea and leave you alone. From my own experience, creepy guys are easily threatened by the presence of another man.

zoid: Are you saying that porn chicks are ashamed of being in porn and recognized? This is new to me.
__________________________________________________________

IMO most new girls and some girls that have been in the biz for a year don't want anyone to know what they do. she could have a boy friend that doesn't know what she does or thinks she does g/g only. or parents/family that think shes a "model". or you get girls that are trying to put themselves through school so they do some movies and hope no one will find out. anyway my point is not all girls are in the biz for fame or recognition or because they love being pounded by big cocks. at the end of the day they probably look at themselves in the mirror and hate what they see therefore they are ashamed...

I could care less if someone recognizes me as I'm proud of what I do and I feel honored to be noticed in public. When someone approaches me when I'm out I have no problem taking a photo or signing something it's the entertainment business it's to be expected if you don't want the attetion don't work in entertainment.

But let me note this has nothing to do with what Christie experienced it's not cool to be followed or to have someone freak you out when your alone. I think it's only cool to have fans come up to you in public not out when you're alone that's a whole other issue. The worst thing I've had happen is scary calls all hours of the night when Mike and I were married they stopped but it was very scary as they knew my home number but called me JEWEL. And I even had some weirdo come to my house and put a torn up stuffed animal on my door step ring the door then bolt so this type of stuff does suck so fans out there be cool and if you want to say hi do it in a public place.

i agree with Jewel. if you don't like the attention then don't be in the biz. it doesn't matter if you do solo, g/g, b/g, internet, or video. someone will recognize you one day.

In any case a gun is a weapon of last resort, if only for legal reasons. Violent confrontations are to be avoided no matter how well prepared.

California is a difficult place to get a permit, especially in Los Angeles and San Fransisco counties. There you need to be famous or know somebody.
People who are being stalked or who are about to testify against violent gangs, criminals, etc. are refused, even after they have been threatened outside their own homes.
Now is you are a washed up 'star' it is easy.

The problem is that California is not a 'Shall Issue' state, but 'May Issue' and it is all at the discretion of the local sheriff.

People in rural counties have an easier time getting a permit. Investigate before applying.

hire a p.i if you don't know have any idea where he lives. if the guy's actively stalking you, he should be obvious. buy a few ounces of blow or anything else that hits federal trafficking minimum. insert in his house. call the cops and he's doing 25.

someone following you on a daily basis is probably disturbed enough to justify a moral mulligan. however many victim's laws your state has, if he's either determined or in possession of above-average mental resources, they won't stop him from killing someone.

Planting evidence is bad - it could get back to you, especially if you have ever been fingerprinted.

When you call people to deal with this problem, report it, or discuss it with others, do not use a cordless phone - he might have gotten the equiptment to listen in. Use your cell.

Ah yes, the money, of course. This is funny 'cause I've been arguing with some people here, basically saying the same thing, but was overwhelmed by the opposition who claimed that girls seek fame and glory by going into porn. This, however, still doesn't explain to me the 'shame' factor. Working in porn is an honest way to make a living. I wish more people saw it that way.

I also agree it's pretty unrealistic to expect to stay incognito forever. There are like millions Americans who watch porn, so at some point you will be recognized and confronted. I think it's better to let your ralatives know otherwise it will be much worse if they find out through other sources.

On a personal note, I have re-read your 1st post, Christie, and I am really sorry this happened to you. Morons who scare girls like that, give porn fans bad reputation. I just hope you don't pull pepper spray or knife on everyone now, because there are fans who are actually nice and polite in person, not to mention good-looking.

By definition, "Fan" is short for fanatic: "A person who is excessively or irrationally enthusiastic about someone (or something)". Like almost worshipping them.

All which doesn't sound emotionally healthy, IMO.

I don't like calling myself a fan, since the word fan seems to be more defined in a derogatory way, and by the definition "fan", that doesn't describe me at all.

Anyway, I prefer using the word "admirer". It's a word that's defined as you enjoy someone in a healthy way: "Greatly approve of or respect. To look at with pleasure." That describes how I feel about adult performers.

Hey Christie, don't ever be ashamed. The work you do is honest and honorable, and you deserve to be respected for it. Above all you deserve always to love and respect yourself.

I am very sorry to hear that guy hassled and frightened you. It is not your fault that he did, so please don't let anyone talk you into blaming yourself or regretting your career.

Please accept my best hope that this man will not bother you again, and that you can once more feel safe and happy in your life.

i don't hate myself i was simply stating why some girls would be ashamed of being noticed in public for what they do. i was basing my opinion on some conversations i have heard or facts i have been told directly from some ppl about the way they feel about themselves after doing "x" amount of movies or stils. trust me, if i startd to hate myself or look at myself nagativly for the things i do or did i wouldn't think twice about getting out of the biz. in MHO the money isn't worth the amount of emotional damage this biz "could" do to you if you don't have a strong head or good sense about yourself....

That was so far over the line and incredibly stupid. If he's off his rocker and you've pissed him off now would be the time to protect yourself the most.

Christie talk to some industry women to see what precautions they've taken to prevent something like this happening again. That's so sad.

Some people need to stop being so selfish and find dignity, respect, morals and class.

i just might ask some other performers about this. not that i don't appreciate everybody's opinion, i do but i think it will be good to talk to multiple performers who have "been there, done that". like we all know from reading this thread. everyone handles things differently.

Sure, you can definitely use some counselling to get over your irrational fears. Nobody recommended shooting a guy for asking for an autograph. Not even once. A gun was recommended in case the stalker got out of hand and tried to grab her (or worse). Big difference between the two.
An autograph is a moment in time and may be inconvenient. Kidnapping is a felony committed against a person and may be a prelude to other bodily crimes.

Christie: If you get pepper spray, it might not be a bad idea to get professional self defense training in its use. General self defense training might be a good idea, too. That way, the next time you see this guy, you can kick his ass.

christie, i was wondering why your dog didn't sick that stalker guy when you felt unprotected but looking at your dog in your myspace profile, maybe she might have been a bit too small. :) wonder if you have had a bigger dog like a St. Bernard, this incident might not have happened. :)

I won't congratulate you on that even if you were alone, so you needn't worry. In fact, if I see you in the mall, I won't say anything at all. I'll just give you a flower, snap my fingers and disappear in the puff of smoke. Deal?

AC: quick question, I hope you may explain something. After having read a couple of your different posts regarding IR porn and its alleged disadvantages to a female performer's career, why is this the second time you've referred to Blacks in reference to a scene or movie? Are you suggesting that there would be some additional significance to your alluding to Kami's scene with Black performers that wouldn't exist if you merely said "6 guys?"

I'm confused...

Your getting silly with this stuff now man. This is similar to how the other thread got off topic. I was making a joke to Kami. She got the joke, but of course you read into it what you wanted it to say. Yes I think there was a little more humor in saying "big black dick in your ass" in front of a 60 y/o lady. I think it's common sense that a 60 y/o lady might be shocked more by a black dick than just saying dick. Maybe you can't see that, but that's just your lack of a sense of humor.

For older generations there's definitely more of a taboo associated with interracial relationships, hence more shock factor. Maybe that's why he said it? Or maybe not.

Kami, I'm not saying implying anything about your grandmother... put the whip down.
