I often get jealous of those who meet my favorite porn stars at signings or conventions. The only one I've ever seen in person was Tiana Lynn, but I wasn't really a fan of hers. It was a total surprise when I walked thru the door of my local mom and pop store. She looked really good, and pretty petite if memory serves.
If any talent reads this and would care to respond, I was wondering how you feel about fans talking to you in explicit terms at these events. I don't mean in a vulgar way, but if I were to meet some of my favorite girls, I would really want to tell them how much I enjoy their films.
Also, how many girls give private lap dances at clubs where they dance? And how much are they? I remember when Christy Canyon danced, she would give them. Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure.

Don't be jealous - you don't get to hangout with them and chill over drinks, there's a line and the fans are usually too nervous to talk. But there are times when no one's in line and you can sit and talk for 10 minutes or so.
The line was huge when I met Christy Canyon, so not much chat there. But when Tiana Lynn and Flower were in town we chatted a good while - and they signed close to 20 of my dvd's - super cool chicks. I think the way to do it is go in the afternoon if they're appearing somewhere - that's how I talked to Julia Ann for almost 20 minutes when she signed in Austin. We talked about her favorite guys and girls, about Blondage, and which of her many Janine scenes are her favorites, and what's her favorite volume of Where the Boys Arent'.
But the girls absolutely love it when fans tell them they like their scenes. Why on earth wouldn't they? Do you think they want to talk about Iraq or the '08 election? Just like anyone, it's nice to hear you're noticed, remembered, left an impression, all that (think about it - out of so many porn movies and actresses it really is a compliment that you would come and see them - and they're the first to realize that).
But when they travel the country and stay in hotels and just sit there to sign stuff, that's exactly what they want to hear. And yeah, they forget the mediocre scenes after so many, but love to talk about their best work. Just say "remember this scene and this scene" and they enjoy knowing they're hot shit. Wouldn't anyone?
As far as the feature dancing goes, just imagine the top dancer in a club then multiply it by 5 or more. So if you go into clubs and only get one dance, two drinks, and leave, then you'll NEVER have the top dancers in the club dance for you. But if you're willing to spend 200 or 300 bucks in there, and hang around a while, you'll receive dances from them. And you'd think some guy would come in and just drop 5k and tie up his favorite star in the VIP, but it's not allowed. The club paid her to come dance there, so they can't be tied up for long - they have to be on stage every hour or 4x a night. But I'd strongly recommend it - if you have a few hundred bucks to spend and have the nerve to turn down all the other girls that ask to dance for you over the course of an hour or two 'til you have your chance. The landing strip in Austin has a good amount of feature dancers tour on through, and it's the only time I ever go to stripclubs. I went when Janine danced there, but never got her (or expected to), but did spend some good time and share some drinks and dances with Charlie.

Numerous people on this board have proven that this statement is false.

Because many people on this board are more or less associated to the industry.

He was asking about the signings. And if you'd kept reading, you'd see that I'm one of the few that you speak about who would make that statement false had I not been strictly speaking of while at signings. Dipshit.

Oh, and I had interpreted your contradiction as discussing an exception that involved exchanges of money.
That's false too.

So to clarify, I've never been to a convention, and don't know what they're like. I should've clarified that - you're right. I never mentioned them so it seemed clear that I had no input on them, so yes I forgot to clarify that I only had answers to 2 of the 3 things map was asking about. But since my post was perfectly clear about which of the 3 aspects of his question I had answers on, I didn't need to clarify I have no knowledge or first hand accounts of conventions. I said which parts of his questions I could help him with, and that was that. Someone comes online, has a question or two, I give my take on it the way I see it, and the next time I pop in some DIPSHIT is having an angry diatribe with himself over what I wrote. Do you have anything to contribute? Well I'm shouting it far and wide, DIPSHIT, I've never been to a convention. Happy? I can tell you how our in-store appearances usually work.
The evening of the signing, we'll let fans start lining up as early as they want. You can bring materials for the talent to sign, but she's not obligated to do so. Each star negotiates her own terms for any particular signing. Most will sign fans' stuff, but some bring their own merchandise to sell and will only sign that. They're there to make money, after all.
Most (in my experience, all) stars charge for photographs with fans. Anywhere between $10 and $25. The star keeps that money. For this reason, a lot of stars won't allow you to take pictures with your own camera, although some will, if you pay the fee. In our store, unauthorized photos are forbidden. If we catch you snapping a picture from the periphery of the event, or even while you're standing in line waiting, we'll give you the boot. The stars have signed model releases for the posed photographs. They haven't signed them for your personal candids.
Depending on the size of the crowd, most stars will chat for a minute, but again that depends on the star. Just like anybody else, some are more comfortable chit-chatting with strangers than others. Most know it's in their best interest to be friendly, because the fan-star relationship is based on commerce.
All that said, each signing has its own character because the stars are human beings with varying personalities.
I can't really speak to the feature-dancing question. We don't get a lot of stars touring around here, and I've only seen one such show myself.
