It seems there are a lot of articles on the web and just conversations on forums too that are guilty of generalisation/stereo-typing of porn stars. After reading one article today, one could find themselves thinking that all porn stars are junkies. This $hit depresses me because junkies are one of the most disgusting things to me. I have no respect for junkies, I have no time for junkies... junkies pi$$ me off on principle. I like porn. I like to be a little more open minded too, in that unlike many people I don't forget that porn actors are people with family and interests and to be honest I bet I'd get on quite well with some of them (particularly Sasha Grey and Dana DeArmond).
Anyway I just want to know if anyone knows if any porn stars are anti-drugs? I think some of the more professional, more respectable studios (such as apparently vivid?) are against drugs? They test their actors to make sure they're not leaning in the junky direction? If this is true then I totally dig that.

While I can't say if they're anti-drugs, I do know that Tessa Lane, Tee Reel, Jules Jordan, and Siri don't use drugs.

Gen Padova was well-known for this. She'd sometimes call out offenders in public too. I don't think she'll be getting a Christmas card from Cytherea's Brian any time soon...

There's a tremendous amount of pressure to be pro-marijuana. I don't understand the bravado with which people in California and particularly in the entertainment industry, abuse and over-medicate with this drug. Marijuana has some valuable medicinal effects, but its a little revolting how everyone has decided it's perfectly reasonable lifestyle choice to get high pretty much constantly.

Katja Kassin,i don't even think she drinks alcohol either.
From an older thread from 2007 and this is Katja's words and im sure she has the same stance on drugs.
I'm in this for 5 years now and I have never taken any sort of drugs, don't even smoke cigarettes or drink coffee.

I totally dig your approach Nica, and agree with you on Marijuana. I used to dig it, and couldn't understand "why people get so bent outta' shape about it" - I was too immature, and stupid. Despite being only 21 I've basically overcome a terrible alcohol problem which almost got me killed one night - that night I had also smoked a very strong joint, and I think that was what screwed up my night. So yeah now I'm anti-drug. I don't even intend on smoking pot anymore. And I control my drinking so well that I haven't actually been drunk in over a year.

I've never tried any of it. Including cigarettes. Not curious enough to try either. I'll drink once in a while but almost never to get drink. A glass or two of something here and there. I actually just enjoy the taste of various beer, wine and whatever but don't necessarily need it. No prescription drugs either. Rarely ever any OTC's. In a weird way I kind of enjoy the journey of what I physically, mentally and emotionally go through when it comes to pains, aches or whatever injury it is I may have. Even any emotional turmoil. I find that it makes me stronger and more in tuned with my body to know what it needs and not need. Most of my family is the same way. :)

I do love a glass of wine on occasion but I'm more of a one to two light drinks kind of person every now and then. I don't really like hard liquor though. I'd say on average I might have 2-3 drinks a month.
I don't smoke and I'm against unnecessary medication. To me it's unbelievable how easy it is in the US to obtain prescriptions for heavy pain killers, antidepressants and sleeping pills. I'm a proponent of herbal supplements and I don't eat meat and avoid dairy. In my whole life I have never smoked and I've never tried any illegal substance. I've only had one prescription for pain killers after my boob surgery and I didn't take them after 2 days. I also don't smoke pot, never have.

The prescription drug situation is completely out of control. I know very few people who aren't abusing some prescription drug or another. We seem to just be a nation of complete addicts who can't govern ourselves worth a damn. It's pretty disconcerting.

Dana has "proudly" proclaimed several times that she doesn't smoke at all. Ugh. The only thing that pisses me off more than smokers is smokers who don't even have the balls to cop to it. Way to give us non-smokers a bad name, Dana. Makes ya wonder what else she's lied about *cough, cough* house fire *cough, cough*
Not that I ever found anything even remotely redeeming about her either way, so no big loss.

I remember perfectly during the Myspace days how she said she was a straight edge.Even her mother who was also on Myspace confirmed that her daughter does not drink or smoke.Maybe things might have changed, but I'm sure she was headstrong about her anti-drug stance during the MySpace days.

I wasn't aware of any of this. And I didn't think her cig smoking was a secret. She clearly smokes during her podcast show with Redban on camera. So I didn't think there was much shame. Although life changes everyday :)

I am 100% against drugs, never tried any and never will. I don't even like taking advil when I have a headache. I have ADD and have been prescribed many things but I refuse to take them anymore, the side effects are just not as great as the benefits. Id rather be distacted and hyper than to be focused, angry, unable to sleep etc... I smoke weed on occasion and don't say "well isn't that a drug?" ... no, its not a drug, its a damn flower and far less harmful than alcohol. I don't even drink that often anymore, even when I was a heavy drinker it would only be at stripper work on the weekends because its kind of hard to not drink the bottles of champagne you sell with the VIP room. I went over 4 months without even a sip of alcohol, avn weekend I had some alcohol, and I had some last night at stripper work but nothing like how I used to drink! If you ask me alcohol is more of a drug than weed.

I'm not anti-drug in most situations but it's just a bad thing to encourage in the porn industry because of public perception. I honestly would prefer people have the choice but it would just be better for the industry if they discouraged it.

Without getting too deeply political, it is fueled by the drug corporations and their lobbyists. The more "diseaeses" like depression, obesity, eating disorders, alcoholism, smoking, general addictive behaviors, and the like they can sell to people as disorders requiring medication, the more money they can make. Of course people do enjoy being told it is not their fault and it can be handled by a medication, the more money they make. Even if the medication doesn't actually work, doesn't improve their life, and doesn't do anything to correct the core problems that caused the behavioral disorder to begin with.
Used to be if you were fat, people told you to stop eating too much. That usually worked. Not so much any longer. People want shortcuts and excuses, they'll pay good money for them.

I posted on a related issue in another thread.
Someone posted a link to a video on a tube site that featured a wasted chick (I would guess XTC) who was clearly enjoying herself, yet also clearly stoned. I liked the video, largely because the girl was so obviously enjoying the whole experience, including the fact that she was being filmed, yet I had the sense that if she weren't stoned, she wouldn't have been as into it.
How do people feel about watching performers who are clearly into it, even if they are also clearly stoned?

The idea that weed isn't a drug or isn't harmful because it's a "plant" is ridiculous.
Risin comes from plants, too - castor bean trees. Try ingesting that sometime!
Marijuana is a drug, and it can have terrible effects on those using it when it's misused or abused, or if it just disagrees with the person's brain chemistry. Personally, if I'm subjected even to second-hand marijuana smoke it can induce a pretty severe panic attack and involuntary physical/psychological symptoms.
It's also been proven to induce episodes of psychosis in patients who abuse it. (I've certainly seen evidence of that with the abusers I've had the displeasure of dealing with. Peace pipe. my ass!)

Oh my god Nica, I love you. <3<3 This is exactly how I feel about weed... I don't smoke it (or anything else) at all, and I'm not bothered by those who do it in moderation -- but at the same time I really don't understand why so many people I know who do smoke, are high almost all the time! I hate to say it but it really is a California thing. I'm actually pro-legalization (mostly for economic reasons), and the attitude people have here toward weed makes me really question if legalization, whether for medicinal or recreational use or both, is actually the most horrible idea ever. Because if other major states had half the attitude toward marijuana that Cali has now, to put it bluntly, our shit would be fucked up. :)
BTW I have the same reaction to weed. I get some pretty nasty physical symptoms as a result, including repeated panic attacks and what basically feels like a 3-day hangover. Something that is "just a plant" does not do that, I'm sorry... lol. It's a drug!

Some plants are venomous , poison is very natural, remember that.
I'm not in porn , I was a heavy smoker (around 40 cigarettes a day, not light) but weed made me sick, every time I tried the hangover was worse and lasted longer ,in my very last attempt it lasted 7 days , an entire week , no booze has ever been as such , not even close , the headache was terrible worse than anything I ever felt in my life , and I was a teenager , able to recover incredibly fast from almost anything and yet that thing lasted an entire week.
If weed could do that I can't even imagine what would something stronger.
So I avoided any drug since.
I'm saying all of this to show I'm not a fanatic on the matter and I'm not a user yet I'm for legalization.
For many reasons first off minimum damage , those who want to do drugs already do , they can have any drug they want for a price.
Those providing drugs are criminals ,organized criminals, they're making amounts beyond beliefs , the stuff they sell is often cut with rogue materials to maximize their earnings or they sell bad quality drug , this will lead to further damage for the user other than that already induced by the drug.
Many addicted do nasty thing to feed their habit , it's the community who pay all costs.
Drugs provided by controlled producers will ensure safe materials at a lower cost thus removing a lot of earnings from criminals.
Furthermore a reduced cost will lessen the need for money , so the addicted would commit less felonies to feed his habit , less criminality pestering the community.
also will lessen the need for so many to find new chemical drugs at a lower price than the usual
All of this wouldn't prevent those in search of very powerful drugs to do so, nor the nihilists to destroy themselves but as said will only lessen the damage.
we as in we the community cannot prevent people from taking drugs , also it's not seen as really evil, there are so many people who do drugs sometimes more than one , many ,even those who don't do drugs, have at least tried once , others are afraid to try but if they could be sure to control it they would do.
So if people can take all he want , if this isn't really socially condemned then it's impossible to defeat,so we should try another approach to the problem, to forbid it has proven ineffective, it's been over 50 years now

It is said in the Vivid Valley series on X360 that Steve Hirsch (the owner of Vivid) was a cocaine and alcohol addict at one point. The series actually shows him not signing a contract for a woman that he evidently really liked and wanted as a contract star just because she kept popping positive on her urinalysis. I also read somewhere a while back where Steve has since invested in an inpatient drug addiction clinic as an owner. I don't know if he tests talent now that he doesn't have any contract performers or if he ever did test talent that wasn't signed to Vivid but he seemed to be very anti-drug at the time of Vivid Valley's filming (in late 2003). Knowing how alcohol can really fuck up your health if it is consumed heavily for years on end and cause a person to not be reliable as an employee I can see where drugs can be a big problem for a company such as Vivid.
