Hi guys!
This account is new, but I've been lurking for a while now. I'm currently a few years out of university. I did a bachelor and master program in STEM fields and it wasn't too hard for me to find a job. Still, my job bores me to death and I'm considering starting a small, one-man, part-time porn production company. I am in north-western Europe, which has it's pro's and con's. The pro is that the porn laws are not as strict here as in the US or eastern Europe. The con is that producing pornography is virtually dead here. I only know of one porn production company and that one strikes me as really shitty. They have all the tools and the knowledge, but the porn itself is just really vanilla and boring.
I basically got the skills to set up a site and payment system, and I'm pretty sure it will look more professional than 90% of the porn sites in my country (for some reason porn-related sites tend to look extremely shitty). I'm not worried about this. I've got enough money to buy proper equipment (lighting, camera, studio), and I've picked my (kind of) niche. I've done some research (locally, in my country), pretended to be interested in a shoot on a couple modelling and escort sites, and got some responses. Suprisingly often (for the reward that I offered and the scene description), I got no response. Maybe not so suprisingly if you consider that I used a gmail address to approach the models, which is the number one sign of a fake or amateuristic porn producer. Most models responded relatively positive. Also, there are some shady 'modelling agencies' that let girls from eastern Europe come over and charge a really low fee for a 1 to 2 hour shoot (respond things like 'all models are OK with everything', yeah right). There seem to be a lot of modelling agencies in eastern Europe (Ukraine, Czech, Hungary, Russia), and some in the UK, but not that much in my or neighbouring countries.
The thing is, I don't have much experience in porn productions and I don't feel there's a midway between diving in (getting the equipment and starting to book models) and not doing it. I'm interested in what you guys have to say about it. Basically my niche is sloppy, hardcore deepthroating, and I offer between 500 and 1000 euros a scene. I don't have a clear view on the habits in the local porn industry (as far as there is one). I mean things like: payment (in cash? what administrations should I keep?), contracts (what the hell should be on there?).
Also, I'm not afraid that my porn scenes will suck. I know they probably will. I don;t plan on making instant profits. It's more of a hobby that I want to explore. I don't plan on publicating everything instantly. Certainly if I plan to have a non-porn related job at the same time, I will publicate movies where I'm not recognizeable.
I'd be really happy to hear your thoughts about this. Especially if you're familiar with the pornscene in Europe. Do I have unrealistic expectations? What are good ways to get models? Is it easier to book models when I have a site up and running? Tips, hints? You're all welcome :)
Thanks for reading at least a part of this wall of text! ;)

That sounds like one starting to gonna do some winemaking from scratch a little far north. Forget about climate change. I once heard a guy on the radio say he rather buy the wine from producers that have done it fine in ages, knowing what they're doing, doing what they're meant to do, instead of someone trying - the sideman - to do what others do, just for production scales, with no tradition to go by. They say experts have done all wrong to do it right from now. I believe in traditions and knowhows and the right climate. Nothing much out of L.A. has much to offer speaking of porn. Prague, maybe, but it is not far north. Ten years ago you had the far East. Florida is for the most part like a vacation in the making by the way, people smoking weed getting high just to get by and that can't set much on fire.

There is a saying that first impressions count the most. This is as true for people as it is true for new businesses and new websites.
You need to have a good quality product right from the start to make a good impression on consumers. Or else a lot of people might visit your website once and never come back again.
There is a lot of competition in the porn industry. Which makes it hard to succeed for inexperienced guys like you.
I'd say that you need to do some porn-market research and find something that people might want to see but aren't getting to see through regular porn channels. Because if you start doing something different from the rest, then for a while you won't have much competition to worry about.

ka_zump I'm curious, who are the actresses that you'd like to hire?

I'm really not in the stage of deciding which actresses to book yet. That being said, I did some research, sent a few mails to look who's interested... As I said in my first post, I didn't get as much response as I hoped, but I found a few girls that would be interested. A few local ones that aren't well-known, and some 'import models' from eastern europe. If you know any north European actresses or agencies you'd recommend that work internationally, I'd be very happy to hear your suggestions ;)

yes, but I was curious to know who are the women you'd book if you had the possibility and if you're more into young girls or mature women. Ayway I like your idea, a lot of companies are shooting only vanilla stuff.
Being outside that world I don't know much about agencies, maybe twitter could be a simple way to get in touch with many porn actresses.

True! I didn't try twitter, as I'm not ready to start shooting (might take me more than a year from this point, I'm just not sure) and I'm a little hesitant to contact girls that I know I'm not gonna shoot in the near future (and on twitter, there's not much space for details). But actually, the idea seems better to me now than the first time I considered it, so I might just make a twitter account and follow some pornstars.

That would be ideal. However, can't find anyone who needs an apprentice. The porn scene seems kind of dead here anyway.
