I'm interested in hearing the opinions of people who work in the industry about what other tests you think should be mandatory for performers in the adult biz? I know you test for hiv, gonnorea, chlamydia and syphillis. Do any of you think there should be more testing, perhaps for herpes, hep c, or anything else?

p.s. i manage 3 apartment complexes in van nuys and several of my tenents work in the adult industry. They are always kind and coureous to their neightbors and so far nobody has been late on their rent for the 7 months i've been here. They are generally very nice people. Because i've 'partied' with a few of them, i've gotten to know a little bit about the industry. I find this forum very enlightening and i enjoy the discussions here.

I feel relatively safe with the tests we now take monthly. Not at all perfect, but we're better off than what one might find in a bar, at work, in the gym, etc. Everything seems relative!!!

I'm pretty sure that HSV (herpes simplex virus) is very difficult to test for. Like genital warts (HPV), it is more easily diagnosed when the virus is active (i.e., when there are genital lesions).

Hopefully some pornstars will chirp in, but I believe that industry-standard PCR test focuses on HIV; there are other relatively frequent blood tests that cover other STIs. A typical blood test will cover: Hepatitis Core B Protein Antibody, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen, and Antibody to Hepatitis C (HCV).

Don't a few of the female performers go to bars and gyms?

Yup--we all do! I can only hope that they use condoms in such situations--in fact, I PRAY that they do. I have lots of Groupie Girls, and as a condition to "play", they all agreed to condoms!!!

I feel comfortable with the tests we currently have to take.
Just wish we HAD to do them every 2 weeks instead of every month.

melissa, thank-you for responding. It's always much more informative to have actual industry performers give their opinions. But what is stopping anyone frome testing every two weeks. If you made it a personal policy to test yourself every two weeks and require anyone who works with you to have a test no older than twol weeks then anyone who wants to work with you or hire you would have no choice but to comply.

Testing is for the safety of the performer. It is the performers who are at risk and it is the performers who have to set and enforce the the testing policy.

I've seen alot of performers talk about increased testing but NOBODY is doing anything about it. Until some leadership among the performers is developed nothing will change.

It is your desicion on how often you test. Nobody makes that choice for you. It is your decision on who to work with. Until the talent stand up and speak for themselves nothing will change. Producers care about one thing$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Performers, though they do care about the money, also care about their own health.

LIke smokey the bear says "only you can prevent forest fires."

Maybe one of bill margolds teddy bears shoud have a logo"only you can go and take and std test any time you want to;"

This message goes out to all performers.
Thank you melissa for posting here. YOur insight is greatly appreciated. Youre hot too.
