Instead of doing parodies, why don't porn producers remake some of the porn from the 70's and 80's? I'm a big vintage guy and I'd love to see some of the classic (and lessar known titles) remade with today's girls, budget, and better cameras.
Short answer: money. Long answer: parodies are a way to make money off of popular culture while circumventing copyright law. Remakes don't enjoy that protection, so rights would have to be obtained first, and odds are the copyright holder wouldn't give them for free.

couldn't they use the same grey area, that they do when the make a mainstream parody?
I think parodies are geared toward winning customers who don't normally watch porn. Those customers will be intrigued/amused by the premise, and can convince themselves to rent/buy it as a "novelty item" and not porn. Fresh new customers are good for business. OTOH for a remake, the original has to be sufficiently familiar in order to appeal to buyers. 70's and 80's porn is largely unknown to much of the present-day porn audience. So a remake of "Behind the Green Door" will be regarded as just another porn flick, and it will succeed or fail based on whether it has enough gagging, puking, ATM, gaping, booty close-ups and DP's and that the boxcover features a 'hot chick'.
Well I'd definitely be all for it. Those films generally had a little imagination to them, so you'd see stuff you don't generally see often today. Still those films were usually more expensive to make back then and usually took more time to shoot, which modern porn frowns on. Although John Holmes producer said otherwise with the Johnny Wadd films. Plotted porn has never been that easy to shoot. Often taking 18 hours a day, which tends to kill energy when the sex actually happens.

Hollywood remakes stuff two ways. the updated actual remake and the ripoff. Quailty updated ripoffs of stuff like "Behind the Green Door" could keep porn fresh and creative while avoiding buying old rights.
I would love it if they remade some classic porn from the 70's and 80's but there are 2 reasons why that wouldn't necessarily be such a great thing. How many porn performers are also good actors? I'm talking about people that are capable of playing a part where we forget that these are porn performers reading lines on a cue card or reciting small line of dialopgue that have onl;y one puprose and that's to prepapre for the sex scene? The other problem and in my opinion a much bigger one is the fact that there aren't any good directors. I'm sorry to say but most porn directors these days couldn't direct their way out of a box.
If you going to remake some old classic porn how's bout Sex World,Behind The Green Door,The Devil And Miss Jones,BabyFace and Pretty Peaches,To name a few.
