Yikes!!! It happened again! In the World News Nonsense "Yard Sales" thread I posted at Posted - Mar 27 2012 : 03:44:45 PM But the WN&N summary page indicates the last post in that thread is Mar 27 2012 11:42:23 AM by nietzsche Am I invisible ? Or am I the only one seeing this on my browser? Because of my cookies or whatnot?
No, you aren't the only one seeing it, I saw it too, after you mentioned it here. Now that Rod has posted to Does double anal exist IRL? it shows up properly in the forum listing.
The forums just increments the reply counter with each new post. It doesn't recount the number of replies with each new reply. The storing of the new reply happens in a transaction to be sure the post is stored to the database. The incrementing of the reply counter is not part of that transaction. If there's a deadlock updating the topics table where the reply counter is stored the incrementing step may fail. At least that's my theory.
Okay, it's happened again. This time in https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/neechquotes-20120407 Should show 4 replies, 2 from me, HeyNow, 1 from stinkfist and one from matchmaker, the last one on Apr 8 2012 : 03:09:53 AM And here might be a bit of info, the system wouldn't "take an edit" for my first reply and it won't take it for the matchmaker post either. The edit button works, I can make the change and I get the "Your Reply Was Changed Successfully! Thank you for your contribution! Back To Forum" message but the edit just does not show up. Looks like it does change the time stamp for the last message to the thread, which shows up in the screenshot.

Yeah that happened to one of my poll threads I started not too long ago. It was missing a reply (basically said no one replied even though someone did post a reply). Maybe a bug from a code update?
I've also noticed that the "Your Topics" from your profile page doesn't update sometimes. I've noticed it particularly if I start a thread. When I check my "Your Topics and Topic Subscriptions" the file icon color will show tan suggesting no one has replied to the thread. But, when I click on the thread, it opens in a new tab on Firefox and there are any number of posts. It happened today on the "Do you Manscape your armpits" thread. The Poll listing showed 0 replies when there were actually 11.
It has happened to me in the toilet thread i posted in the polls section and you have replied to it BYOB but it's showing as no replies. It might be fixed now but that was a second ago. Now showing 1 reply but there have been 2. Edited by - stinkfist on 4/13/2012 10:38:51 PM
