Once you have a connection to a NET a Virus can always enter your "platform" (if one exist for a given platform off course) and a portable HD is not an excuse not to burn something if you want to "own" it longer than the lifespan of your external HD :) Cube [Link]

Unless you're using VERY high quality blanks, those DVDs you burn have a relatively short life expectancy. I believe your HD will easily outlast the DVDs you burn. [Link]
