With JM/Legend, JM is the company that produces the videos, and Legend is the company that markets and distributes the videos.

In some other cases, a company will have different names to designate what type of title a movie is. Vivid titles are more of couples type titles with plots, costumes, etc... While Vivid Raw are their "Gonzo" style titles, where there is no story and the sex is a little more extreme.

Other times a company may have gone out of business, but has sold it's catalog to another company. In the early days of DVD, some of the companies had other companies produce their DVD's for them until they could get up to speed and do them themselves (Wicked is an example of this).

Who CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the movie looks fuckin' hot but it and if it doesn't then don't. I am interested in studios, but not which catagories they go into. I can tell you're really not a porn coinesseur. The way I see it if you start worrying about porn studios it basically means you have alot of time on your hands.

Thanks a lot... your answer sheds some light on the weird connections between the different studios. When I found the first videos which obviously belonged to another studio instead of the one shown on the store webpage, I thought, it might have been a typo, but with increasing examples I thought it couldn't be that simple. I still wonder why one store lists a title under another studio than another store, since this renders the studios' ideas to use several names useless.

since I never got a reply less friendly than yours I thought I'd take some short time to answer it. Well... I guess if I got the time to care about studios, I can also spend some time to answer an unfriendly reply.

First of all : Being able to read helps a lot. Of course I know that I'm no coinesseur of the Porn-biz. I never talked about the porn itself. I guess I have seen enough over the last few years, from every studio I can think of. I saw films hard and soft, young and old, kinky and romantic, black and white, yellow and green, thin and fat, cheap and expensive, and I don't care if I make the impression of being a porn coinesseur or not.

The way I see it if you start writing negative replies without any constructive information in it, it basically means you have more time on your hands than me.

Thanks for your support. This was definitely an important question for me because in the past it happened more than once that I ordered some title which I thought was released by a certein studio known to me as a quality studio, and when I received it, I saw that this wasn't the original studio to create the film and the quality was lacking. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one interested in this topic.

The company name matters because you know what to expect somewhat. If you want to see the copmlete original feature, you know to avoid Vivid, as they frequently edit their movies to fit extras on. You also know that if it's a classic VCA release, editing might happen so VCA can protect its butt legally. With some companies you know that the transfer will be lousy, etc.
