Many of the better adult movie producers do videotape the same scene from two or more angles and with separate cameras. While requiring more work, I am sure that a whole DVD can be produced with true multiple angles. The different angles in the DVD will then show the same scene at the same time but from different cameras with different perspectives. One can focus on the face, the second from a distant perspective, and the third can be a close up shot. So when the initial penetration is shot, I can choose the angle -- close-up, distant, or face. I think that this realistic and effective use of multiangle will be fantastic.
Now, one of the better producers should try to produce such a release and it should be a DVD release only, with a lot of promotion. Before, even videotaping, the director must have the plans, all the equipment, lighting, and extras ready. It will be technically more challenging, and they will have the opportunity to show that they can master the technical challenges. The release company can even charge extra for such a DVD to make up for the increased production costs, and I will happily pay extra (if it is a release I want) because I will be getting more enjoyment. I would like to see Evil Angel (Tricia are you listening?) or Anabolic/Diabolic (very unlikely as they have not started simultaneous releases yet and are somewhat behind in DVD production techniques) produce such a DVD. This will really change the face of DVD releases. Even if the release doesn't sell that well, the promotion would be good for the company and this release will be a classic. A Rocco gangbang or a Gangbang Audition will be a perfect vehicle for this experiment.

I do not see Evil Angel doing multiple angles at all in the near future (or maybe even at all).
Although multiple angles are not technically hard to do (just sync two or three different video tracks - you could even use the same audio track if you wanted), it does require more than 1 camera in the room. Even on a 35mm film shoot, John tries to keep the crew to a bare minimum by hiring a crew of people who can multitask - ie. combining several tech jobs into one.
Although they are neat to look at, we don't really want to break the intimacy of our shoots anymore than absolutely necessary.
As you know, we at Private, do release some titles with true multiangle scenes.
Anyway, it is really annoying, for many directors, to do so. Mainly because of the creative restrictions it brings (the technical part is not that tough). You can understand that directors with nice camera movements will have plenty of headaches in have 2 or 3 cameras in a studio and not "crossing" any of them during the shooting. Imagine the typical Woodman sequence shot in a doggy anal or a DP: ass closeup-ass open shot-lateral open shot- frontal open shot-face closeup (and then the way back). You can agree that this is a "trademark" shot that can even let you know who is behind the camera and is not compatible with a multiangle thing.
Well, I just wanted to mean that there is plenty of opinions and all of them good. I actually agree with enthusiasts and the detractors of multiangle in some ways. In a word, any kind of porn can be good if it is well done.
BTW your idea sounds interesting, but there should be a big budget on this.
I'm with Tricia. Multiple angles aren't really important to me. Maybe it's just how lame most of them are-ie: mirror shot, editing the previously released feature, etc-but I'd prefer cool stuff.
For Private, I'd prefer a cast by scene list of credits. Some of their production notes have been really good about this lately-Yay Private!.
For Evil-the extra sex is the best!
I still like audio commentaries, behind the scenes stuff, and other dvd only extra's though. Viva La Difference!
I think that's a Good Idea, I'd Love to see Private do that. But I also Agree that would take away from a Director's trademark or absolutely Confuse things on a Set so bad that it makes the Sex Warm. If a Director did do this, They would Need a Big Budget,of Course, And VERY Popular Ladies so it would actually Sell. Since 90% of everything I own & Rent is Private Production, I'd Love to them Pull that off before another Studio
I've just recently gotten into the DVD market, I just have a few minor suggestions.
First, for Ana/Dia, I think for some movies the chapter breakdown is poor. Like Gangbang Girl, it's 2 chapters, plus a cumshot recap (good). They could split it up, have a BJ chapter, vag chapter, anal chapter, DP/DVP/DAP chapter, then facial/swallow chapter. This is just for the GBG DVDs though.
For the Assman and Debauchery DVDs, how 'bout a "Gape" recap? By that I mean a recap of the reverse cowgirl anal - BIM! (sp?) segments. I wouldn't mind that at all.
One thing most of you won't like, but I have to get off my chest, is that I wouldn't mind, especially on Evil Angel DVDs, to have a foot fetish section. They have a fetish section, but not for feet. Especially in Rocco and Silvera films, there's lots of that content, so I would really like to have that as part of the Fetish Menu.
I might be wrong - but I think there may be such a fetish option in Rocco's Best Buttfucks. I think the fetish is called 'Rocco's Foot Abuse'. I think it concentrates more on the girls sucking Rocco's feet rather than the other way round.
I never bother watching the alternate angles feature. Usually the best angle is used in the scene anyway.
What I would like to see are split screens. One side shows the penetration shot, the other side a closeup of her face, or medium shot of the participants, or whatever.
The extreme closeup penetration shots are by themselves uninteresting, but when you can show them as well as other parts, yeow!!! It really, really works well. I saw it done only once, but I don't remember the name.
Why don't they split the screen occasionally? I'm not sure what would be involved, but it certainly adds A LOT, even to a scene that might otherwise be mediocre.
Now this is a pretty darn good excuse/reason to use anamorphic widescreen for porn DVDs. Seriously.
Two 8:9 aspect ratio portrait images side by side, would surely look a whole lot better when doing that sort of split-screen than two much more skinny 2:3 images.
Possibly the split screen version being the multiple angle so it looks okay in non-widescreen.
I have, however, now realised why this 'Wide screen A namorphic S plit S creen' technique must never, ever, be used, even if technically and economically feasible. The name that must inevitably be applied to it is just too soul devouringly cheesy

This reminds me of the Dream Theater concert DVD I bought the other day - Mike Portnoy put in a lot of split screen segments to show what each band member is doing during certain fairly involved sequences. But I digress.
One thing I'd like to see - if a porn DVD has to feature an orgy scene, it could be done in multiangle so that the viewer could concentrate on one couple or grouping instead of getting confused by a flood of anonymous body parts - I don't know if anyone else has this problem.
I agree that Anabolic/Diabolic needs more chapters per disc, not just Gangbang Auditions , but all their titles. One chapter per scene is just not enough. Evil Angel has the right idea here; New Machine's Up & Cummers discs are also well done in this regard.
