This is a continuation of another thread, What's the Difference???

I thought that I would post a new topic for the porn fans to make suggestions for Elegant Angel. Seeing is how there are now quite a few people from Elegant Angel now members of the forum.

This is meant to be a thread to help Elegant Angel improve their DVDs, not as a which studio is better thread, so...

I'd like to first say hell-o and welcome to all those under Elegant Angel's wings. And also wish that everyone of you post frequently...

Now the suggestions...

You could use better extras. You could put better bonus footage of the film that was bought, rather than the same ol same ol. Like try to include bloopers, interviews, behind the scenes, etc...

There are sure to be more to come, but I thought that I'd get the ball rolling and hope that fans will give more suggestions...

I'd like to second everything BIGmike has had to say. Welcome to everybody from Elegant Angel and extras such as bloopers, interviews, behind the scenes, etc. would be great! I understand that this is fairly easy (or at least possible) for new releases, but on the older releases a lot of it might be too late, so I don't have much of a problem with not seeing them there. On the other hand, if there are some of the stars that you are on good terms with that are still in the business, an interview would be great. The William H. Nutsack featurettes, which I'll admit might be an acquired taste and are definitely not for everybody, work great here as long as they're not repeated a lot.

On older releases it would be great to see them remastered. Sodomania 5 immediately comes to mind as a feature with video clarity that made me try to remember if I had drank heavily before watching it due to the excessive grain. If this is very hard to do or not economically feasible, please try to create a second price structure. I hate to mention the V-word here, but it's one of the things Vivid has done very well. To have their new titles with more extras at one price structure and more basic older titles at another is a great thing since the older titles are quite as feature laden DVDs. I'd also suggest a bonus scene or not. It's a great way to draw attention to the more recent titles and shouldn't cost too much more to add to a DVD.

I would love for EA to film around 60 or so interviews with stars where each one lasts about 20mins, like real in depth. Then to put 1-3 of these interviews on every disc, not only would this be great for viewers but also for EA since titles would become more in demand. Why?, because some people would buy certain titles that they otherwise would not of purchased just to get THAT interview with Gauge, Monica Sweetheart or Shyla etc. EA titles would become like collectors items where viewers try and build a collection of interviews. You could also include a old scene featuring that star to complement the interview. Just a idea!

Here's my suggestion for them:

Let Tony Ribas direct a lot of Euro stuff for them (I know he's already done some), but I'd like to see more. He shoots hot sex and the camera work is exceptional, in Leg Love he had quite a few shots of the woman's entire body while the sex was going on, a far too rare sight in a porno.
He also shoots some hard sex, but with beatiful girls, something usually lacking in US hard stuff. His standout discs are Hardcore Innocence #1, Leg Love, and XXXplosion.

Let Mason direct most of their US stuff, I really dug Mason's Dirty Trixx and hope to see more of the harder variety of sex from her in the future.

I was just talking with Parker Schurman, Mason and William H. They had the same suggestion but I want to know if "any" extra scene would be appreciated, or if it would need to be tied in with a girl in the movie...or a theme?? what would you guys like the best??
Thanks,
Patrick

hey Patrick,

The idea of an extra scene is a good one. But it shouldn't be just any scene... and it shouldn't be the same scene on every DVD.

Extreme Associate's shot themselves in the foot when they put the same bonus scene on a majority of their DVDs. So try to avoid that. I know I was told by Mitzi, or someone who I might've forgotten, that the DVDs are produced in bundles(?)/batches(?) and that is why every DVD for that month has the same extras on it.

Now that Extreme is producing shit DVDs, and all other studios are improving, it would make sense that Elegant Angel would improve as well. So the best way to improve Elegant's releases, in my opinion, is to have good extras. Since several of Elegant's releases are very hot, content wise.

There are a lot of people who will buy a DVD because of the extras, so give them what they want.

So... a bonus scene, perhaps from your archives, or a never before seen scene, it could also be a solo scene(s) of the girls from the DVD, or somehow related to the film. Bloopers are also great.

Interviews are great as well, I personally would love to hear what a director thinks about the work they produce.

Also, one complaint, some better ID's would be nice on the transsexual DVDs, I can't stand not knowing who a performer is when I review a DVD.

Or you can include bonus footage of each scene that did not make the final cut in editing. Evil Angel does this. Instead of including a bonus scene in their discs, they include extra sex as the bonus, a few minutes from each scene in the movie that did not make the final cut, which usually comes out to an extra 10-20 minutes in extra footage for the viewer.

And a good idea it is! All of you are helping me to
be reminded me of my roots... I was a fan first!
Unfortunately, the 'business' gets me away from my best point of reference. I really love this interaction with you people. It allows me to once again be in touch with whats needed to make the best product.
What would you guys/gals think if I were to give you my release schedule and then based on your suggestions try to create the best 'extra'and content for the DVD's?
It would take about 3 months before we'd see the efforts of our changes. Tell me what you think.
Sincerely,
Patrick

Of all of the ideas here, I think that the most important and most basic one is that when there is additional footage (like behind the scenes) available, it should appear on the title to which it is related.

Prior to buying the Exxxplosion DVD, I had rented it on VHS. There was an end credit to Sophie Evans for Behind the Scenes footage, which didn't appear on the tape. Naturally, knowing that this footage existed, I assumed that it would appear on the DVD when I purchased it (which I did). I was pretty pissed off to find that it didn't appear on the DVD either.

You would have been better off not having the Behind the Scenes credit if you weren't going to include this on the DVD. At least that way, we wouldn't known that is even existed. The way it was done, we all knew that it existed and that nobody cared enough to put it onto the disc.

The release schedule with updated extras sounds great Patrick.

Here's my suggestions for extras:

Bonus Scenes - should be related to the feature in some capacity. I don't think they always have to be from the same movie, if there is another connection such as theme or star. Or perhaps, something with the same shoot, but with a fetish orientation. If it doesn't appeal to everyone - oh well - that's why it's a bonus scene.

Behind the Scenes should be related to that movie and are almost always interesting to me. Footage from the film itself is fine, but could be more expansive to other areas of the production such as casting, box design, post production parties and promotional events.

I think most fans are interested in the starlets, so interviews are a natural. Like someone else said, I would enjoy interviews with the girls that go beyond "how old are you" and "when was the first time you had sex." Also, the interviews could be conducted around town - sort of a "day in the life" with the starlet idea. If it was long, it could be split up over several discs. Also, I imagine interviews could be conducted in a group - get three or four of the girls (and maybe guys) together from the set. The starlets can also be interviewed while they are watching the final cut of their scene and comment on it.

I've seen some adult movies with a Commentary track from the starlets and director and it was interesting. Different people could be used on the commentary as well such as a critic or maybe even a fan. Perhaps an interview could be conducted during a commentary - during slow parts when there was nothing to say.

Multiple Angles - I still think this concept has potential that no one taps into. There's all kind of things that can be done. Having two cameras cover the action is what I normally see, but there's other possibilities. Maybe hand a camera to a starlet and let her film the scene her way (a la Venom). Or - hand the camera to a fan and see what you get. It might suck, or it might be great - who knows? Maybe that would be part of the fun.

Also, I know you guys like coming up with the theme music. You should put together some bonus scenes of the performances and recording sessions of these songs.

These ideas are just off the top of my head. I think there are an endless number of extras that could be included on adult DVDs. Have fun with it and don't be afraid to try something new and different.

Last but not least, I would retire the zany antics of William H. Nutsack.

I'll use the example of Big Bottom Sadie, a great film. I'm sure that there had to be a lot of footage left on the cutting room floor, so I was disappointed when there was no behind the scenes footage.

A film like that begs for/needs a great behind the scenes, and extra footage.

Yes BIGmike, I think different types of films need different types of features so give us a list of films you are wanting ideas of extras for...also if poss a cast list:)

I am a bit dubious of a few ideas I am hearing here but one that interested me was Snowmans idea with footage of the actors from a scene talking about the scene. Has potential...maybe not footage but commentry, most porn commentry has the director and not the actors talking.

The award for worst idea is...snowman!...what on earth were you thinking when you suggested having footage of musicians performing music for a scene. I hope I am not destroying your visions of a large performing international orchestral etc but the truth is that the footage would be of a junkie on a stolen keyboard while drinking Sunny Delight...in a caravan.

I think it's a great idea if you can post the relase schedule and then take suggestions for extras. I've recently got 4 Elegant Angel DVD's and they all had the same extras. As for showing the musicians recording tracks, great idea snowman. Maximus not sure if you know but it seems on some of Elegant Angels new relases the music is written and performed by Doug Scott and Roscoe Bowltree(Patrick Collins). I for 1 would like to see them in the studio pieceing the music together. Pat, when can we expect another CD from you?

interviews with the stars would be great, I like hearing what the stars of the movie have to say. Maybe include some of Bossman's footage for behind the scenes. I agree on a bonus scene too, connected to the movie someway. an interview with the director could possibly be interesting to hear as well, maybe for feature films the writer could talk about what inspired the film, or possibly a character. Thanks to Pat and everyone at Elegant angel for taking our suggestions.

Patrick Collins aka Roscoe Bowltree (of Roscoe Bowltree's Blue Revue) does the music for the releases. or some of the releases?

I have that Blues CD that they did, and I did a mini review of it for Elegant's press release, thanks to Mitzi for sending one out to me. The songs on that, or slight variations of, can be found in Elegant's releases.

That would be interesting to see the recording of a song for some of the features.

Heh...here is a thought for a interesting feature allthough very unlikley! Have competitons on your website where every month or so the winners gets to be part of a scene with a popular star, then have it as a extra!...that really would be brilliant but as I said, very unlikley.

Patrick, I'm one of those who do not care much about extras in dvds. I'm more interested in the video quality (which is pretty good in your dvds), in how beautiful the girls are (where I have not complaints) and in the sexual content of your dvds. ..About the "Sexual Content" I really would like for your movies to have a more clear definition, by that I mean why don't you make them more HARDcore, they are rather insipid right now, specialy the ones from Tony Ribas, why don't you add more salt and pepper (anal and dps) to those videos?? ...as they are right now they are not different from the stuff Tony Ribas/Nacho Vidal make for the Killer Pussy series (New Sensations) and I think it shouldn't be that way, The porn videos that Tony Ribas makes for Elegant Angel should have their own personality (a harder one). Remember Tony Ribas is using euro-girls in those movies that he makes for you, so why not use those gorgeous babes in all their full capacity? ..really Patrick Tell Tony not to waste all those beautiful euro-assess (anal and dp galore, please) ..Thanks for listening.

Patrick....great to see you on the boards....special features are what makes DVD, DVD...behind-the-scenes, alternate cuts of scenes, extended scenes, deleted footage, photo shoots....and I would have loved to have heard a commentary track on Big, Bottom Sadie....btw, what was the problem with the sound on that disc?...sounded like it was recorded in a cave in some spots but man-o-man the sex!....also, it might be nice if your web site provided a release schedule for VHS & DVD on the main page....I'm sure its something you know Evil Angel & Redlight do and its quite helpful...
Thanks for your time

To Patrick Collins and Elegant Angel...
I apologize for swaying off the subject of this thread a little, but I think El A's doing a great job with the QUALITY of their DVDs- with so much crap out there, a good transfer is more than enough for me.
I'm not really into extras, although I do think it's a great idea to include an extra scene, and to change that up with each realease. One Dr. Fellatio scene (a good one, in it's entirety) at the end of each film would be awesome.
Now for a quick question...
Are there any plans whatsoever to release some of your older titles on DVD? More specifically, personal favorites like...

Booty Duty 1
S.M.U.T. 2: Moving Violations
S.M.U.T. 3
Sodomania 23: Broken Mirrors

I'm a patient man, but a couple of those titles have been advertised on various retail sites as "coming soon" for nearly two years.
Thanks for your time.

Patrick,
Welcome. Publishing a release schedule would be great. Maybe even holding a contest for a fan-picked DVD of the month...

I would recommend you follow Evil Angel's lead in releasing some new and some old material each month. Elegant Angel has a huge catalog of great material which many fans are dying to have in their DVD collections. Having said that, please avoid the compilation road as it's so easy to lose the feel of the original scene when you take it out of context.

In keeping with your comment on a fan's perspective, I second those who suggest that a quality scene is first and foremost. Extras cannot substitute for that. Along those lines I'd like to reiterate my oft-stated position. It is the director's duty to make the actress look good. Production values and camera shots should be set up to that end. Generally, I applaud your company's adherence to that idea. However, I just watched "Born to Be Buttwoman" and found the scenes to be too choppy for my taste. Please don't get into "MTV-style" cuts in the edit bay. Pick a few good angles that capture as much of action as possible and take some time on each one.

As for extras, I have nothing to add to the suggestions above, however, it does seem to me that few companies are taking advantage of the possibilities presented by the DVD format. I second snowman872 in thinking the multiple angle theme has been rather boring. Why not shoot two interpretations of the same scene? Sure, it doubles the editing time, but the reward could be different takes on a scene that cater to different audiences.

Well, I see I'm starting to ramble again. Thanks for "listening."
