Hi everyone. The Golden Age enthusiasts around here are undoubtedly familiar with the Swedish Erotica series. I would say that it is inevitable that you will stumble upon it at one time or another since most of the big name stars of that era have starred in of of those films. However, despite the popularity and the significance of the series I don't find it very easy to research it from a historical perspective.
I'm subscribed to Exploitation.TV (Vinegar Syndrome) and they've recently been posting Swedish Erotica shorts from the 70s. They feature very famous actors/actresses (John Holmes, Joey Silvera, Linda Wong, Annette Haven, etc.), are around 10 minutes in length, and the audio is muted as music alone accompanies the visuals.
Now I'm aware that in the 80s a bunch of Swedish Erotica full-length films are being released with audio and dialogue and are released in volumes (e.g. Vol. 23 is different from Film #23). Are these simply just compilations of the aforementioned short films and Swedish Erotica eventually introduced audio later in the series?
I am very interested in the historical development of this series and would be very happy if anyone can provide some insight into this well known output of classic porn.
