I live in a small city and would like to become active in the swinging lifestyle, hetero preference of course.
How does one accomplish that feat, should one be bold or shy in that most worthy and beautiful of pursuits.

I've never been very interested in swinging, but I have read a little bit on it. You should check out Backpages or Craigslist to find others who are interested. You may have a difficult time gaining entry if you're a guy without a woman, but rules vary, of course.

As a single guy in your 60s (70s?) with no experience in the lifestyle, you've got your work cut out for you. Sorry to be blunt but that's the reality.
Craigslist is possible but there are so many fake posts it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Only based on my familiarity with your posts, I really can't see you being comfortable in such an environment. Instead of diving in head first I'd suggest dipping your toes in by going to the closest swing club you can find and attend as a single guy, that is IF they allow singles guys (a lot of them do - sometimes it's once a week or only once a month) and just get a feel for things by having casual conversations with attendees with no expectations of anything more.

Oldguy, I can't say much for most areas of the country as I don't know (more of a BDSM guy myself) but if you do get involved in swinging please, please, please buy some condoms and lube and use them when you get laid. Assuming you don't fuck like a porn stud that will reduce the likelihood of you coming home with VD. Also if you get into that lifestyle please get a comprehensive VD test every 28 days, preferably using the PASS regimen given to porn performers.
Unfortunately I don't have much of a suggestion about preventing that other swinging malady, crab lice other than to say if you get them their boiled claws taste good with melted garlic butter.
Seriously, good luck and I hope you find a few cute chicks to lay (with condom of course).
