Up until the last 10 minutes it's a perfectly scripted and well acted story of two dysfunctional families, completely believable and realistic, but once the husband (Paul Thomas) decides to get revenge on his wife by fucking their common daughter (Raven), I was jerked out of reality (no pun intended) into something completely retarded. Yes, Thomas is the only man Raven is fucking in this movie, and she is very hot, but most of the movie was hot because of its realism. Ooh, and Taija Rae is also a scorcher. I for one would be into a new Taboo series (esp one with sister on sister and mother on daughter ;-) ) but it seems you can find any kind of fetish out there these days except this one when it's all pretend. There are things in the movie about power in relationships, about family, about role reversals, about ambition, about being tempted by lust into self-described evil... TAS is at heart a thoughtful production. I've no doubt that the makers were trying to make a "real movie" that featured explicit sex -- that was a goal of lots of people just before cheap video changed everything. Somehow they also made a killer porno, too. Which is either a tribute to the excellence of character development, scripting, acting and other techniques of those who made this film, or else a suggestion that heat might be increased if the context is at least a little believable or possible to identify with. There has to be a circle of hell where gonzo porn loops are shown 24/7: 15-minute by-the-numbers generic fucks forever and ever without end. [Link] |
