That's my hypothesis, anyway. Only your dermatologist knows for sure.

If skin is good, does tattooing make it a "damaged good"?

I've never had healthy skin. It's always been acne or some ailment or another (And no. It's not poor hygiene or anything else. It's just my skin type). If I had really healthy skin, no way would I cover it up with tattoos or intentionally damage it in any way. People with healthy skin have no idea how good they have it.
Since we keep having this debate, it's just sad that a lot of people who get tattoos have them done before they ever even hit 20 years old. That's a bigger decision than drinking alcohol (generally).

I've heard that men with tattoos more likely to damage goods than other guys are.
Maybe they get too distracted while looking at themselves to drive a forklift properly.

i've always thought chinese lettering tattoos are way lame. They're up there with tribals and armbands.

^ I'm going to disagree. I respect your view, Chode, it has gotten a bit played out, but for some people it fits and or truly has a meaning. I have no tattoo's, but I've been planning for about 4 years to eventually get a Japanese tattoo (from the Kanji alphabet, which are Chinese characters). I don't want to go into the whys, but there is a very specific reasoning for the tattoo. So that said, sometimes I think they are fine.

I lived in Japan 3 years. My ex wife is Japanese, my son is half Japanese, and I speak Japanese. Having a strong affiliation with Japan is part of why I got the tattoos that I did, and a tattoo should be a highly personal decision.
I think proclaiming ones self as being a Master of Chodes is lame, but I'd never have mentioned it. I can only imagine your affiliation with chodes.

What a funny topic. I'm sleeved up, so i'm biased. My tattoos all tell a story about my life, I especially love good tattoos on women. Damaged skin? hmmm.

I wonder if Japanese people get tattoos of random English words. Somebody has "asswipe" inked on his neck and he's telling his buddies it means "power" or something.

let me rephrase what i meant. All chinese/japanese lettering tattoos aren't lame. If you actually know what one of the symbols means and you get it, then by all means, it's cool just like if you wanted to get a tattoo of your dog or your mom's name or something else that has meaning. It's the people that go into a tattoo shop and just pick the random ones that might mean what they think it means: luck, hope, strength, etc, but they have no way of knowing what it is.
It's not the meaning of the tattoo i don't like, it's the whole clicheness and trendiness of it that i don't like. if you like that and it has meaning then I say go for it. I'm almost completely anti-trendy-whatever so that might be why I'm biased. If you wanna get a tattoo of whatever and it has meaning then that's awesome. i didn't mean to come off like I was dissing it. I just don't like meaningless or trendy tattoos that people get because Joe down the street got one and it looks cool. I don't really hate any tattoo per se, I just hate the way that people jump on trends when stuff is popular - like tribals and armbands - and there's no meaning or purpose behind it. I wasn't dissing your tastes Jr, so I apologize if i was coming off like that. That wasn't my intent.
And calling yourself Master of Chodes is badass.

I didn't take it as a diss, CMJ, just throwing my 2 cents in. I agree it can be played out, but with almost anything (except butterflies and roses) I can give it a pass if there is meaning there.

People, before anyone gets too serious on this thread (or am I too late for that?), remember that this is only a joke thread started to counteract the stupid "Tattoos on Women = Damaged Goods" thread started by a troll.

killbillvol69,
I think you're missing the deeper philosophical implications of this thread.
--------------------
For instance:
"If a blind man tattoos himself in the forest but no one sees it, is there a mark?"
and
"Can laser removal help a man who has other people's tattoos on the brain?"
---------------------
These are topics that cry out for discussion.

I totally get that. I actually considered the whole social 'jump on the bandwagon' before I got it; it's why I mentioned how tattoos should be a highly personal decision. The flip side, is that I feel refusing to do something because it might follow a trend, is just another form of conforming. Obviously, if my tattoos were the first thing someone saw about me, that's all they'd be able to go by. That's part of why they're on my back; I rarely have my shirt off in front of people I don't know. By the time someone sees the tattoos, it's likely they'll know why it's there, and just how little regard for social convention I have.
Thanks for clarifying though; your first post really did come off as 'damn, you're lame.'

I don't hang out in The Porn Pool too much, so this facetiousness went right over my head truthfully.

No prob, apologies for the misunderstanding. Nice post btw. Like you said, if people see your tattoos they know you to an extent and know what you're about and everything. That's cool. And the conforming by non-conforming is food for thought too. :)
