Other than the few DVD that have had known problems, a quick cleaning of the DVD has always eliminated the problems that you are having for me.

I've had some problems getting my DVD-ROM drive and my JVC-XV511 to accept some Evil Angel discs. It just seems to be player incompatibility though as the same discs play fine in a PS2 unit. I've come to accept problems with some discs as my player is getting old and seems to have problems with several discs. Several Columbia Tri-Star titles as well like Charlie's Angels and Men in Black (Collector's Edition version).

The problem that I have when this happens is pixels on the screen, the screen freezing, usually in the extras.

I had the same problem with some Vivid discs that I bought a few years ago but they turned out to be defective. The reason that Vivid gave me was some solution from the manufacturing process being still on the discs but they took them back and exchanged them for copies that worked fine. Being unfamiliar with the manufacturing process I don't know if this was a load of bunk or not.

My stand alone (an RCA DVD player) has trouble with almost all Evil Angel discs. It's the same trouble for all of them, where it will sometimes start playing them with heavy pixelation--unwatchable, like something is... out of sync. The way I have to get rid of it is that I have to scan forward, or scan backward and then hit play again, sometimes several times, in order for it to "find the picture" and play normally. It's very odd.

Again, this happens with all Evil Angel discs, not just the Ass Collector. I assume it's a problem with my player's "chemistry" with the Evil Angel discs, although I've not encountered any other problems with my player on any other clean, unscratched disc (with the exception of a recent DVD9 Elegant Angel title which won't play on that player at all--very odd). In any case, I can still get the Evil Angel's to play, and if I really have problems, my DVD ROM plays them fine.

Anyway, I have to say that it's really quite frustrating at times that DVDs and DVD players aren't always universally compatible. I hope this is a transitionary phase and that this problem will get better with better authoring techniques and better player manufacturing, but maybe it's just a limitation of the format. I don't know. When you think about it, it's really pretty rediculous.

EA has been pretty good in the past in purchasing additional DVD players for the purposes of testing their DVD's.

I'm still on vacation, but during the week next week, I'll start by looking at The Ass Collector DVD.
I'm not sure if a problem like this is with authoring or replication.

I have a couple of copies of Ass Collector at home, and have watched at least one of them a couple of times on 2 of my stand-alone players, and was able to get to the end of the disc without any pixellation. I'll have to do some more testing.

What I need to do is have a title authored by someone and sent to our same replicator, and have a different title done by our authorer and sent to a different replicator.
Since a disc takes 4 - 6 weeks to go through the production process, it's going to take awhile to work on this, but hopefully it'll get figured out and get better.

For those of you having problems, does is seem to almost always be after the layer change?
What other titles are you having problems with?
If some of you have been having problems with the majority of our titles, are there any specific ones that played OK for you?
