What annoys me with most things computerised is how much shit you have to wade through to actually get to what you need. I reckon today I must have spent a good four hours googling, browsing and downloading shit in an attempt to unlock my mobile phone. The funny thing is that once you find what you're looking for you're left with an embarassment of riches: I only wanted to unlock one sodding phone and yet I felt compelled to read the full history of Nokia phone locking techniques and unlockers counter-measures.

Anyway, I'm immensely proud of unlocking the phone. Not so much the unlocking in itself but managing to persevere through the information gathering process sidestepping all those ads offering to unlock it for me for a fiver, downloaded unlocking tools that require a knowledge of advanced Bulgarian and the endless links that only prove to be another fucking search engine!

I've had exacty the same thoughts. You have one fucking little problem, but the amount of education you need to solve the problem amounts to a master's degree. The good news that you have a lot of info already under your belt for when the next problem arises.

Absolutely right SNP the amount of time spent looking for "quick" answers on the net is mind boggling.

Was it something like press and hold the has key # key?

It was simple enough, but not that simple. You have to enter the phones unique IMEI number and operator codes into a calculator program which spews back 7 locking codes one of which (usually number 7) will unlock the phone when entered with no SIM card in place.
