I keep seeing these posts and alot ones like it all time when in forums, newgroups, especially gaming related ones . I must say I do not understand them. Either they are saying that is so happy or that its so homosexual. Neither which makes sense about subject matter. How is that dvd so homosexual? Someone saw it doing something to one next to it on shelf?? I get feeling it meant to be very negative. Can someone explain to be when this started or what heck they are trying to say?

thanks

I noticed this quite a bit as well. My guess is that the game related newsgroups and forums are overrun by younger kids that don't really know any better.

For young kids, it makes you cool to label something as "gay". I think it asserts their masculinity or something.

It doesn't really bother me that much anymore. If I started posting to those threads and informed them that calling things "gay" isn't very nice, I'd just get flamed back to the stone age. I'm sure they'll grow out of it at some point.

By the way, have you ever seen this one? I get a chuckle everytime it pops up:

I would have to disagree with you joeblow. In the context that madara is talking about, I doubt that the prevalent use is not to assert masculinity or said by younger kids that don't know any better. I think it has become a term that essentially means "stupid", or "lame", or "silly". Granted it's evolution into such a meaning is not neccessarily what one may consider "right" or "proper". But is a reality nonetheless. Take for example:

Q:"Hey, did you see that movie last night?"
A:"Yeah, but it was pretty gay."

Frankly, I doubt there is any allusion whatsoever to the Webster's definition of "gay", nor is there some hidden context. The term has become and will continue to be, a euphemism (if you will) for something that is considered unappealing. For better or worse, right or wrong.

you know if I didn't know better, I'd say:

Joeblow69 you're sooo gay.

heehee just kidding.

I agree with Chillin. It's almost always used to describe something that's just not appealing.

Look at the SouthPark kids.. when something 'sucks' they're the first to say.. that's so gay.
the Chimpokemon episode is the perfect example!

That's Gay...
that's libarachi Gay...
and so ons..

and why am i soooo long winded?
