On guys I've been asked the most about and by my own personal sales experience. Julians POV stuff sold like hotcakes so I know he's popular and I get a lot of requests for him in my stuff and Lex sales like crazy. Justin is always asked about and if I ever worked with him. Rocco nothing to be said he's the king and Manuel the ladies love him. Peter North men want to blow a load like him and adore him and Mandingo is something to be seen because of his monster cock.
you should walk with nacho on the street here in spain..the guy is giving out autographs every 5 minutes, he is a really big celeb out here!
similar thing here in spain with ramon nomar and andrea moranty, they have been on tv so many times in mainstream shows, even had their own slots in tv shows, it gives them a HUGE following here, even though they might not be as well known in other countries.
Kami: Retailers and distributors are honest with themselves, at least when it comes to the bottom line. Their honesty is reflected in what they buy. Retailers are on the front lines. They know who customers ask about most, who customers click on most, and whose movies customers buy the most.
Max Hardcore I would also add to my list of Buttman & Jules. Max doesn't have to be in a movie, but if his name is on it as director/producer, the unit sells.
Jack Napier and Mandingo are great performers, but I wonder if their names sell flix? Having big cocks on your cover definitely move units, but do these guys have the face/name recognition of Lex?
BTW, Kami, just went to your website. You're hot! Interesting photo with the foot drowning you.
It's hard to measure star power except for the guys at the very top. But my list is made up mostly of the guys who've gotten some sort of recognition outside the porn world. Recognition outside the porn industry is the far and away best way to sell units. That's why John, Ron, Seymore, Peter and Rocco top my list. These are all guys people who've never bought a porno in their lives might know and associate with the porn world.
The other guys (Lex, Nacho, Julian) have been around a long time and have been highly successful at branding themselves: Having their own series'; toy endorsements; directing; winning awards.
I wasn't thinking internationally, but I can easily see Nacho being that big over there. I'm happy to say that I met him in Vegas a couple years ago, and he seemed like quite a guy. With how much product he's been putting out in the states over the last year or so I just can't see him being in the Big 7 here...

Remember how Anthony Hardwood was handpicked by Jenna J to be the one to fuck her in her long-awaited b/g scene in "DreamQuest"? What is his deal? Why isn't he more of a star? He has a great body--well, used to. He bulked up so much and I guess I liked his innocence in DreamQuest. Oh well.

The guy that fucked Jenna in Dreamquest was Devin Wolf(at least that was his stage name at the time).
Right on, Kami. More of the good, experienced male performers need to know that they have a fan base, and that they can capitalize on that. Just like the women, they need to have their own websites and do some touring. I'd love to see Brandon Iron doing the male stripper circuit. If only because I think it'd be hilarious to see him dance. But then again, I don't know the brother...he could be the best dancer in the world but I don't know it!
And on the flip side, the experienced women need to know that they have the power to leverage their own fan bases into their own video lines. More women need to direct, and to own their scenes. Produce your own shit, ladies! All it takes is money and you got that. Working a camera ain't that hard, and you don't even have to know how to work it to have "Directed by Me" on the boxcover.
