Tight! I will definitely watch this - I *love* apocalyptic movies. This sounds like a cross between Doomsday, Road Warrior, and what I should imagine Evil Dead 4 would be like, if they carried on from the alternate ending.
Okay...so a pro-sumer camera is one that is good for both the average consumer and the professional alike...that much I could figure out via google. But...is that bad for the movie? Perhaps it should have been shot on film?
Not bad, in the sense that lots of other low budget [with an emphasis on low] have been shot on such camera. However, considering the obvious time and effort put into the rest of the production, I find it rather surprising that the visuals themselves are such low quality...I think every movie ought to be shot on film unless the aesthetics of the work itself are more geared to the look of video. I think porno ought to move away from film and toward pro 24p video. 1080p or better (google 'red one'). Film has its own 'pro-sumer' variant, which was 16 mm. That carries its own set of problems. 35mm is 'real' film but that is way too costly for porno, especially in the recession. In this case, the bts may have been shot pro-sumer video but I'm guessing that the real movie was shot with pro gear.
What I've found is that the Red/Red One/Scarlet has a very video look. Sure, it's very detailed, but it has the coldness that makes video so ghastly. 16mm is the pro-sumer equivalent in film, but it's still much higher resolution than all pro-sumer video and has much more character and warmth than any video format, bar none. 16mm is about the equivalent to 2k video, which is much higher resolution than 1080/24p

I just waded through this 4 hours non-epic and I would sooner endure the entirety of Jeanne Dielman than suffer through The 8th Day again. To be fair, I didn't suffer that much as I viewed most of it on fast forward (thanks to their being a mere 65 minutes of actual movie to watch (and even there, there's very little real story). And the sex scenes...man...the sex scenes...They drag on, and on, and on, and on, and on...20+ minutes each (with a couple exceptions which run like 17 min). And it's not like they're particularly well photographed, staged, or lit. And speaking of the cinematography, it flat out sucks! The composition is terrible, and the entire production just looks cheap. More thoughts later, but all I can say is that this was a huge disappointment.
Wow, that really sucks. I was in my local yesterday, and this was for sale at $65!! I would have bought it if it were cheaper, but now I at least know to save my money. I will most likely watch it anyway, but this is disappointing news nevertheless.
