Hannah West

Let me first say that I am single male who has regularly watched porn for over 10-15 years. I have probably seen thousands of porn scenes. Of those thousands of scenes, maybe a few scenes have really bothered me. However, one scene of all of those thousands has really, really bothered me above all others. And, that is Hannah West’s scene in Oral Consumption 10. From reading her past statements on this scene, Ms. West clearly states that she was a willing participant and that she was sexually turned on by it. It’s clear that this scene was shot over a day of shooting and edited down to last about 10-20 minutes long. In it, she is degraded in many ways. At one point, you can see the blood rush to her face--a purely physiological reaction that cannot be “acted”--as her face turns bright red. This is often a sign of extreme stress. She appears to psychologically break down, as she reads the signs that are being held up for her to read about how she hates her family. In fact, she does cry. She later claims that she was okay with this and that she was just feeling emotional during the scene, and she never “tapped out” because she was okay with it. Anabolic has a history of gonzo porn scenes in which they try to humiliate the porn actress. Some are obviously fakes, some are half-faked, but this one comes as close to being an actual filming of a real breakdown. Ms. West went on to make over 30 titles after this one. It is in her economic interest to say that this scene was done willingly. However, if there is ever a test case for pornography researchers to study about crossing the line into abuse, this would be one of those cases. Also, for contract lawyer studying contract law and their abuses in the porn industry, this case would also bear being studied. In my personal opinion, I think the makers at Anabolic video need to be brought up on charges and prosecuted. New laws need to make it easier for new, aspiring actresses to back out of pornography contracts, without financial repercussions. I am guessing that Anabolic prepaid Ms. West’s airplane ticket to travel to California to shoot this. Once there, I wouldn’t doubt that they reminded her that she had signed a contract. As a result, there must have been a lot of pressure to go through with the contract. Herein lies the heart of the problem. This would make a great test case for lawyers to clamp down on these arrangements, with our without Ms. West’s help in this matter. Having said this, I wish Ms. West the best and I hope she navigates her life in a way in which she can be, and continue to remain, reasonably happy.
