^ What's the issue with shooting with only one camera? With today's production running, the director often is the camera guy, and there's maybe a sound guy. But no one is hiring an additional camera crew, it's money down the drain since most of the gonzo scenes don't have intercut shots at all. Some viewers start to complain when there's a cut before the final cumshot, as they feel they're tricked with a) a stunt cock for the cumshot or b) fake cum in some creampie movies, so there's even expressed demand for scenes that play in one continuous shot.

^^^ one camera is fine if used properly, if i was filming a scene I might have one focused on her face most of the time to get reactions, but theres acting and real life, I set up one cam on her face to watch their reaction because its documenting reality for me. The productions where I can tell its one camera is usually also poorly lit, people who complain about cumshot fakes and stunt dicks need to get a life! those viewers are more annoying than even me!

As my avatar image and quote would indicate, I really enjoyed Jane's Anal Addiction just like you did. Like you, there's a lot on Evil Angel these days that doesn't interest me at all, but as you put it, they still occasionally "knock it out of the park" with certain scenes/movies, and that was one instance. Two other recent "home runs" on Evil Angel for me would be Gianna Dior's 1st anal scene and Alina Lopez's blowbang scene from the latest installment of Jonni Darkko's Wet Food series.
Aside from those, though, there's just too much content on the site now that doesn't interest me at all...whether it's the transsexual/bisexual content or scenes with "Euro babes" that I don't know and have no interest in.
Well, until you get experience actually doing it yourself, I think it's fair to say that you are in no position to comment.

I'm not telling any of you how to feel about Evil Angel but I still like it and have a membership. The lineup of directors has changed a lot. I didn't get into his stuff but I know Adriano was incredibly popular and his leaving would ruin the site for a lot of people. I miss Dana Vespoli's stuff, she dived into a lot of different genres. And I miss Manuel Ferrara's Raw series. I really like Joey Silvera and Aiden Starr. I wish Joey would bring back his Strap Attack series though.

I was never the biggest Evil Angel fan. But I think that after Jules Jordan left the company, it lost a lot of quality. The movies and scenes became more and more weird, absurd, trashy and more and more niche. And since I'm very picky about the male cast, this is also a big weak point for me at EA. With few exceptions and without mentioning names...EA shoots with the smallest dicks in the business. On camera and on a professional level I just don't find it sexy.

Speaking of transsexual. If this should become mainstream instead of niche, EA would of course be well established. It's not my thing at all, but it would be interesting to see how other studios handle it. Would HardX start to shoot transwomen, or JJV etc.
I couldn't agree more with evilpineapples. Any schmuck can point a camera and shoot a scene but it takes skill, experience (including making mistakes) and effort to do it properly and, most importantly, satisfy the requirements of the distributor. Knowing how to frame a shot, shoot from a good angle, maintain lighting, capture audio from the right position, direct your crew and performers is no mean feat.
Like you said AngryPrivate, sticking a camera in some [lovely person's] face and telling her to get on all fours and take it in the ass is not really that difficult.
Furthermore, the assertion was NOT "shooting very good porn is not as easy as it looks", the assertion was "shooting porn is not as easy as it looks", the operative word being ''shooting'' NOT ''very'' or ''good''.

This is exactly why I left after having a membership for several years in a row. Even though there was still stuff I liked, like Darko and Bam Visions, it seemed like the majority of content presented to me was very fetish oriented.

It is implicit that shooting is done to an expected standard.
I would imagine it would be handled the same way Darkko did it with Trans Glam last year. You'd have the most beautiful, feminine T-girls like Chanel Santini and Emma Rose paired with top stars like Angela White and Adriana Chechik. They would shy away from casting these T-girls in scenes with men, unless it was a threesome with a biological female also present. I think they would completely avoid showing a man going down on the T-girls whatsoever.
Of course, Deeper had Aubrey Kate in that big orgy scene for Drive and that had at least one guy going down on her. I know Deeper is fetish porn, but that DVD is by far their best selling and has consistently been among the best selling movies since it came out, both in DVD form and in on-demand orders. That movie is certainly "mainstream" as far as porn goes.
I think the crossover to mainstream has already begun...so many of the top stars are available to do scenes with transgender women now. That was definitely NOT the case ten years ago.
Did anybody else hear about the allegations being thrown at Manuel Ferraar? A pornstar named Jenny Blighe is saying that he abused her during a scene. According to her, he was chocking her so hard that she almost past out. Another pornstar named Ginger banks said that she totally blacked out during her scene with him. This was a scene that they did for Evil Angel.

Gotta give him the benefit of the doubt, this guy has been possibly the most prolific male performer of the last 2 decades and popular on all accounts, probably the most sought after guy both by directors and performers. I never heard of him abusing anyone, he may have made a terrible honest mistake by choking the petite girls who aren't used to it and simply missed their signs. I wasn't around for many of the things that were spoken of in the thread, like a lot of directors having left, for this reason or that. I'm a relatively new member, only two, maybe three months. Figured I'd chime in with my thoughts on the situation a touch. Upon joining I was pretty pumped, kid in a candy store - immediately I went to download some of my old favorites, old Belladonna titles and was met with the first issue, the first let-down: they're in trash resolution, the DVDs weren't ripped properly and we're stuck with really poor quality video as a result. (And do you you think that now, with the porn drought from Covid, they'd take the opportunity to put up some fresh rips with good quality bit-rates? You already know the answer.) So there was that. Exploring the catalog, I find there is very much a lack of lesbian content on the site: 18,964 scenes, of which 1,304 are lesbian scenes making lesbian content out to be a total of 6.87% of the scenes available. Going back to 8/9/19, there have been only 5 lesbian scenes released, in more than a calendar year, Covid is not the cause of that lack, it's been going on for years and years it seems. Continuing to look at the content offered, if we see that the Updates/Upcoming sections are rife with three things: innumerable Rocco Castings, multitudinous TS solos (How many? As of 9/26, thirty-six out of the last sixty TS scenes have been solo, more than 50%. If we just look at the last thirty TS scenes, twenty-one have been solo scenes, that's 70%) and steady amounts of pre-recorded "Live Shows". The castings are rote, as the same with the TS solos and the pre-recorded Live Shows leave a lot to be desired as they're incredibly formulaic (at least half or more of the show is clothed, aka the QA section, then they let some breasts go, then usually with about 10-15 minutes left they'll get down to business) first and secondly why do we want to watch/hear other folks interacting with the performer and her saying their names/catering to their desires as opposed to yours. Those are the bulk of the updates and they're just fluff, really. And that's coming from a fan of TS content too - it's just non-stop with the TS solos (and aforementioned castings and "Live Shows"). If we look to male talent chosen for their scenes - it's a collection of the most over the top, shouting, yelling, bellowing, cavorting crew that I've seen - it's a true rarity that we are given the chance to enjoy a scene and enjoy a female talents performance as they're being drowned out, covered up, in the seeming desire for the male talent to try and make themselves the star of the show, to hog the aural soundscape. The reply sections are rife with complaints - nary a change to be scene, in fact it seems as if they double down on the same male talent even further on account of the complaining (there's a few male talents on there who dick them down with the best of them yet leave the female to be the aural star of the show and for those who restrain themselves in that manner I am very grateful). The recent Darkko feature was marred by framerate issues - no addressing the issue, no re-upload, nothing, radio silence despite numerous users contacting Support over the matter and Support passing it to the "appropriate department". Since I've been a member they've also used the Banner space at the top of the home page to advertise "new" scenes that weren't new, and in fact had already been released as new on the site prior to that, in essence recycling them again as a "new update". Felt a little disingenuous there too.
Sounds pretty desultory, doesn't it? There are gems, like folks upthread have mentioned, certainly nothing with regularity. As to what was released since I've been a member that I've personally felt was that (in about a three month time)?

Granted, it has picked up a touch over the past week or two, hoping that signals a change in said update frequency, and hopefully, less castings, solos and pre-recorded shows and more hardcore scenes (preferable with more lesbian scenes and TS/TS or TS/F). I don't think I'd renew right now if my membership was up, we'll see how things are in a few more months when that decision has to be made.

I just failed to change it over to a percentage. Regardless of the math, though, and especially now that it's fixed, I believe the overall thrust of the attempted point being made stands concerning a seeming lack of lesbian content.
What percentage of 18,964 does 1,304 represent then, if it's not 6.876186459%? That's how you figure it out, you divide the top number (1,304) by the bottom number (18,964) to get a decimal then you convert that decimal to a percentage multiplying by 100. It's grade school elementary shit, and the only thing I failed to do in the original post was convert the decimal to a percentage. Then I went back and fixed it, then I showed my math, and I then gave the quoted example to show how such a problem is solved. Didn't pull it out of my ass, no, I double checked before posting to make sure my remembrance of how to figure that out was correct. It is. If otherwise, correct my error. If not, shut the fuck up and stay on topic.

As someone who doesn't get into any one of EA's niches, I have to say I miss the amount of watchable material they used to provide in a month. Mainly I would join for the Chris Streams - Pat Myne - Le Wood movies at the moment but there doesn't seem to be that many titles out lately due to covid. I don't know if this qualifies as the 'downfall' of EA but I liked the old ratio of traditional scenes to niches better.

Checking the upcoming releases on the Updates page and scheduled for 12/11 is Jake Malone's Bitchcraft #5, twelve year old title and by the looks of the trailer stuck in SD, 480p, non-upscale. More to the point of the downfall of Evil Angel. Twelve year old title being used as an update. This coupled with them using an Adrianna Chechik compilation video of already released footage, for December 2nd, as an Update and even having the "Purchase Early" option available as a further slight to the already paying customers. These practices do not engender customer appreciation. Bitchcraft #5 should have been on the web site years and years ago, it's over a decade old. I just don't get it. Is the vault really well and truly that empty?
Hi there. I noticed a few years ago that EA's site did not have all the movies from the Bitchcraft series for some strange reason. It had some of them, but not all. It looks like someone at EA finally noticed that and uploaded the missing movies. The literal downfall of Evil Angel was them selling out. When Roscoe and John set out with Elegant and Evil, they were two directors and producers independently expanding their vision. Evil always had the best product, but Elegant was strong in it's own way. Mason, Nutsack and Zupco put out strong content for years and when L.T came along, the ethnic game elevated with Black, Latin and Asian Booty Worship. Then in 2010. P. Collins retired and the quality and legacy left with him.
That may have been long winded, but the same happened with Evil. John took a step back, probably due to illness as well as the overall domination of J. Jordan. Once Jules left, I think there was a panic and that panic was met with bringing in performers as directors, that, in my opinion was the beginning of the end. Justin Slayer was on the rise doing work for C level distributors, but he wasn't ready for a Evil label. He had potential and promise, but he needed a mentor, like Jules to get off the ground. Without support, he blew it. Evil dropped him and after a year or two of struggling, he hung it up.
Historically, very few performers went on to be true legendary directors. Off the top of my head, meaning I could be missing some. Vince Voyeur, Pat Mine, Michael Stefano and maybe Tom Byron. You also have people like Lex Steele, who were solid performers and decent directors, but the fact that their name moved from distributor to distributor told you everything you needed to know about how the industry received their product. For that Matter, Platinum X did extremely well with performer directed content, but I will assume it was the divorce of Mike and Jewel that took down that empire.
I could break down most studios, but it's truly a franchise situation. Directors are paying a license to use the name and distribution and some house don't care about the content as long as they are getting steady income. For perspective, it's what's killing Burger King, they franchised so heavy to compete with Mc Donald's that couldn't keep up with quality control and when profits went in the toilet, many franchise owners walked away either forcing a restaurant to close or for corporate to step back in and take over. Mc Donald's is also attempting to buy back franchises or place respected owners into new location to fix their quality and consumer image.
I know some are big fans of Evil Angel, and that is great, you are the reason they are still competitive, but I can say with 100% certainty, the quality, respect and catalog that made them a giant are not present an many of the current day productions.
^ Safe to say Rocco is the best known performer turned director. As for EA's demise, it's tied to the loss of directors. I'd put Malone,Sin, & Clark high on that list.

I think calling Rocco the best is opinion. That reminded me of that guy that was married to Belladonna, Nacho. Hell if you want to get technical, it could be argued that Joey Silvera is the best. His Tranny line has been porns most profitable series for two decades now.
Either way you spin it, we have collectively named 10 performers turned directors, now name how many performers have directed a titles, you are now in the 100's easy, proving my point which is at best 5% actually meet the mark.
I don't know but I would say that Joey Silvera has a much bigger name recognition to Rocco and precedes him by over a decade has a performer and two decades as a director. I would add the name of Christophe Clark to the list of performers turn director who has a very high name recognition.
No way, man. Rocco is a bona-fide celebrity in Italy. He has done advertisements for potato chips and has participated in reality shows and art-house films. He even owned a restaurant emblazoned with his brand at one point. (Does he still own it? I haven't kept tabs on how it's doing; I just remember the original announcement.)
Joey Silvera and Christoph Clark are great directors and legends in the porn community, but... no. They definitely do not have the same name recognition as Rocco.

I guess I am showing my porn ignorance, because the name Christopher Clarke doesn't ring any bells. The thing about celebrity is you have to want to embrace it. In the U.S. porn stars don't do commercials, Standards and Practices would not allow it. Otherwise I'm sure Jenna Jameson would have been popping Tic Tacs and breath mints for a paycheck.
Once upon a time, rumor had it that both Ron Jeremy and Max Hardcore were sitting on fortunes, they could have easily opened restaurants, but again, thinking about the states, Hooters had a Stigma for a percentage of the population, so I could see people frequenting a porn star owned and operated restaurant unless questionable acts were taking place there.
I'm sticking with Joey. s pat said, he had more than a decade headstart on Roc and his Trans lines have outsold entire distributors like Anabolic, DVSX, Video Team, etc. I would not be surprised to find out Joey is sitting on more money than Jules Jordan.
