How much does it take to get you to reach the orgasm threshold point in porn? Been thinking about this one, mainly in connection with another thread on how to make porn more interesting - and thus more saleable and profitable.
Basically, porn is all about masturbation. We watch porn for all sorts of reasons, but probably the most basic and common one is to masturbate and ejaculate. Anything that doesn't achieve that result is normally a failure. When we start masturbating to porn it's usually at a pretty early age, and frankly it doesn't take a lot to get the desired result - a mail order magazine open at the underwear pages was enough once upon a time!
That's all well and good for a while, but porn wears off. That's the problem with it. It's like a drug, and you need more and more of it to get the same hit. So we moved on from mail order catalogues (I'm of a certain age!) to ordinary nude pics. That worked for a while, then softcore porn, and eventually hardcore stuff. For a very long time the hardcore was very difficult to get hold of, and that was particularly so in the UK where it wasn't legalised until much later than in the rest of Europe and in the US.
The 'ejaculation threshold point' is the point at which porn becomes sufficiently arousing to create a satisfactory masturbation fantasy - in most cases you're doing it with, over or in the woman in the picture or movie. That magic point is set at a pretty low point when we start - the underwear pictures, for example. That soon wears off, though, and you want more. In the UK that was difficult, and porn stayed much the same for a long time - basically just naked women showing their breasts, and eventually after a huge legal argument actually showing their open vaginas. That, believe me, was unbelievable - but pretty soon it all dropped below the ejaculation threshold point again, and it took more than a vagina to be sure of an orgasm.
So, just as well, the floodgates opened to illegal imported hardcore stull like Color Climax from Denmark, and you could actually watch full sex - penises inside vaginas, sperm being ejaculated onto women's faces, open vaginas with sperm in - the lot. Great for a long time, and certainly well above the ejaculation threshold point. As time went by, though, people wanted more and more, and they got bored with 'ordinary' hardcore porn. The ejaculation threshold point was raised even higher still, and porn had somehow to keep up with this to achieve sales. You know how it is with a particular favourite porn scene or star - it takes just a few seconds to cum at first, then a bit longer, and finally she doesn't work for you at all and you have to move on to something or someone else. Hence the constant need for new porn actresses.
Max Hardcore did something different - much more extreme, with pissing and vomiting, women dressed to look much younger than they were, and a distinctly violent edge to it. And look where it got him. Others followed with similar themes, and there was (and still is) an awful lot of daddy daughter incest, similar family incest stuff, double anal, triple anal, pissing, vomiting, spitting, and even diapers.
My point is, I suppose, that the ejaculation threshold point has now been raised to such a high level that porn producers have nowhere left to go. What it needs is a dramatic reset to original manufacturer's settings! Back to square one. Back to the innocent, innocuous porn of the 1950s to stop the incessant ratcheting up of the porn being produced to cater for ever-increasing, harder and harder needs of its customers desperately trying to find something sufficiently different and perverted to get them beyond that magical, ever-higher ejaculation threshold point!
We need to go back to basics, back to the porn of earlier generations to break the cycle. Are we headed, I wonder, for a massive international puritanical regression? Seems impossible to imagine, but it's happened before.
Looking at the above, which was intended to be just a couple of lines, it looks a bit crazy - the very idea of porn getting softer and softer instead of harder and harder just sounds impossible. But given that the ejaculation threshold point keeps getting higher and higher every year, and porn producers have a seemingly impossible task creating new stuff that reaches that point, what do we do?
What does the industry do? Every bubble burst in the end - maybe even the porn bubble?
