Every now and then it seems like porn goes through a transformation. A lot of the A list stars froma few years ago have now retired or are far less active - stars such as Sandra Romain, Annette Schwarz, Tory Lane, Katja Kassin, Arianna Jollee, Brianna Love, Bree Olson, Amy Reid and even Sasha Grey! The new generation fo stars such as Kristina Rose, Alexis Texas, Tori Black, Mackenzie Pierce, Emma Heart etc are now in their prime. It seems that the life of a porn starr is quite short either for personal or commercial reasons with only an elite few having good staying power!
It could even be argued that there is a new generation beyond this ready to take over.
I miss some of the old stars but thats not to say the new ones are not great also.
What does everyone else think?

The porn generation I miss were the stars born in the early 80:s who nearly made any vanilla scenes at all in the beginning of 2000. It felt like everything was an anal/dp scene and DPP and DAP was really common. This was also before the internet boom so they made much of their best work for dvd only.
Some of them were:
Kimberly Franklin (Canadian star underrated as hell, made a transition in looks by getting her boobs done and gaining a few pounds making her more MILF:ier to the end of her career)
Aurora Snow, Shyla Stylez (of course still active but not as groundbraking these days!)
Judy Star
Monica Sweetheart
Arianna Jollee
Gauge
Angel Long
Jackie Moore
Kacey
and a bit later on Keri Sable
I think this period really ended with Keris retirement.

Yes, I could have gone back a further generation and included Aurora Snow, Gauge, Teagan (in her best early days), Haley Paige, April Flowers, Lauren Phoenxix, Jewel De'Nyle.
I tend to avoid Shyla Stylez scenes. I think her boobs are just too big. Saw Aurora Snow in a scene from Roccos back a few days ago. She still has the X factor.

I would say very few have staying power most are in for the quick $ and that porn is straight up fucking crazy with the amount of girl's willing to fuck on camera to include series like Praise the Load and The Gauntlet.

So who would you say are the currentg A listers of Porn right now?
Who does it take for you to buy the movie without reading a review or finding out what it is about/goes on etc?
For me, right now, there is only one name that can do that - thats Kristina Rose.
There are other great performers but I will need to know a little more about the film before buying first.

In her early days, she had some of the worst eyebrows in porn history for a pretty girl.
What a turnoff. Seems to be better in that area now.

I think everyone is too busy looking for the "next big thing" and putting some of the popular and good performers to the wayside. Then those girls run their course and the "next" big thing gets searched for...its cyclical

I love how porn is done now! I can't go back to the days when most of the porn I watched had:
1) Background music drowning out all other sounds.
2) Scenes being looped in the same scene (girl being fucked doggy and then a couple of minutes later the exact same shot is being repeated).
3) Inconsistant cuts (ex. Girl wearing clothing /cut/ girl nude /cut/ girl wearing some article of clothing again).
4) Camera-man taking the focus away from the girl to get shots of the male performers facial expressions.
5) No bts or extras
6) Some sexologist showing up at the beginning of each flick to give me a lecture on safe sex.
7) Five minute sex scenes broken up by about 15 minutes of plot.
I also love not having to fast-forward past said plot on vhs tape and discovering that there's something wrong with the damn tape at certain parts and now your vcr is fucked up.
