I think the future of porn is plot based porn, just like with Hollywood, movies sell based on how good the plot is.
The problem with most modern day porn is the sex is good in so many different titles that you see one and you've seen them all. In Hollywood you got Will Ferrell, the equivalent of a modern day pornstar, doing the same shit in all his movies. The only difference being the plot changes and people pay millions for the different plots with Hollywood films.
Porn hasn't really caught on to Hollywood's scheme yet. I think they are JUST NOW starting to really move forward with it. They did it some in the 70s but the sex was really lacking back then, all the scenes were way too short. I think the problem is people want plot but they also want long sex scenes without the compromise. It has been rarely done.
I think it's apparent how profitable it is because of all the parody videos are all top sellers everywhere. People really enjoy porn with any sort of plot at all in hopes that it somehow touches on something different. So I can see a real demand for good porn writers in the future. Porn scripts, etc. Seems like a few features like Pirates are top sellers on every best seller list online. Along with all these parody type movies. The future definitely seems to be in plot based porn.

One thing I've realized about porn is it's all about the tease leading into a scene that will determine how good it is or not. The tease ultimately is what fires you up about the girl and creates the strong attraction and desire for her. And a big part of that tease can be spurred with the right plot intro. I think that is the secret formula or recipe that has been missing.
What is the plot intro that fires people up the most? Tapping into that is the future of porn. It will be interesting to see if we ever have a porno one day that is oscar worthy. That makes people cry, or laugh like a Will Ferrell movie. It will be interesting to see if porn will ever attract such talented writers.

Agreed about the tease. I remember "Bad Girls" and oldies like that, they were best when the director took the time to tease. It's still hard to pull off (hard to find good acting) and I bet there are plenty of fans who don't want to "waste" time with "non-sex".

It really depends on what you mean by long sex scene. I am sick and tired of 40-50 minute sex scenes in some of the movies I've seen. 20 minutes is more than enough to do a good sex scene. As long as it was hot you could get away with a lot less.
Buildup is essential for a truly hot scene. I can't tell you how many super hot russian girls I have DL'd a scene for and been totally 'Meh' about because there is no dialog, not even an interview. They just have a naked guy walk in and start having sex. Booooooring.

I would much rather watch a plot based scene a la Brazzers/Bang Bros than a casting couch scene where the girl sits on a sofa being interviewed before the naked guy walks in from the side when the action starts. Borrring.
I know some of the plot based scenes might be predictable for some but the
pre-sexual action scene turns me on anyway.

I wish this was true but doubt it, hopefully plot based porn will make some kind of comeback though.

I hate plot based porn, mainly because those in porn (and even more so the guys) can't act. If they could then they wouldn't be in porn. This is the main reason I never watch Brazzers stuff. And there are only so many different setups, and at this point they have all been done and overdone.
I really enjoy the female only tease/dance/strip/soft masturbation at the beginning of a scene. Then some sort of connected/kisssing/chemistry/foreplay. Unfortunately, this is a rare occurance.
20 minutes? Good luck with kepping your woman happy.

THE FUTURE OF PORN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NARRATIVE. THE FUTURE OF PORN IS BEING ABLE TO WATCH SOME RANDOM HOT GIRL IN VANCOUVER OR MUMBAI GET FUCKED IN REAL TIME WHILE YOU'RE WEARING 3-D GLASSES AND HOOKED UP TO A CONTINUOUS THC INTRAVENOUS DRIP.

Oh, well shit then, let me brush up on my FORUM ETIQUETTE, and try to remember not to IRRITATE you with my sporadic use of CAPS. I didn't realize that breaching this rule was tantamount to wandering into a 5-Star French Restaurant with my dick hanging out of my pants and snot running down my chin.
Some of you guys are fucking weird.

^ TGoCJ: stop being nasty just because someone pointed out that you violated the forum etiquette. There's a reason that bit is part of the etiquette: it's commonly acknowledged and recognized not only here but throughout the online world that posting in ALL CAPS is tantamount to YELLING AND SCREAMING TO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS.
I don't come to ADT to have people yell and scream at me. Do you? No? Then please don't post in all caps.

I think plot-based films of all kinds are on their way out of entertainment. Because computer games are becoming so realistic that people can create their own plots and fulfill their own fantasies by exploring the environment created in a computer game.
And you don't even need to play with other people. Artificial intelligence of computer games is becoming so good that you can interact with computer-controlled characters in a life-like way.
I think most people prefer to explore and create their own fantasies than to be led by the hand and be fed someone else's fantasies. And it's just a matter of advancing computer technology to make something like this available for consumers. When computers become good enough at this, then traditional plot-based films will be finished and done for good.

^ I'm sure computer-based interactive porn will be attractive for a lot of people. For myself, part of the fantasy is thinking about how slutty the actual porn star is. I like knowing that hiding behind the curtain is a real woman, so a computer game wouldn't satisfy me.
The future of porn is diversification. Taste in porn is very personal, and new technologies will create new ways to satisfy individual kinks. I'm sure we'll see plot-based porn, and more graphic video games.
Here's a question for you to ponder.
Imagine Multiplayer video games making use of interactive sex toys, which allow one person to play with a dildo while another person is stimulated by an artificial vagina, mouth, or anus. Assuming that a lot of gay guys fantasize about scoring with straight guys, it's not hard to imagine men playing the game with female avatars. Would you care whether your play-partner was really male or a female, or would it be enough that the avatar was female?
For me, the fact that I didn't know the person behind the avatar would bother me. Others might simply be satisfied with enacting their fantasy, or knowing that two human beings have helped each other enact a shared fantasy.

Edited to bold main point in long post.

I think the majority of porn watchers prefer "scenes" rather than a feature movie with story that runs throughout. Most people watch porn to get there rocks off then move on so to invest into a drawn out story isn't that appealing. However, I think scenes with a short set up (vingette) that sets up the sex encounter will always be popular.
This might seem like a dumb question to ask but....
For fans of feature porn...How do you watch it? Do you watch the entire movie everytime? Do you stop after you get to a scene you like, do your business and continue the movie later? Do you handle your business then continue to watch the rest of the movie? Do you watch the entire movie without any climax?

^ I tend to use features when I want to prolong my jerking off.
If I can make it through the whole movie great. If not, I might never see the end.

I would agree , the best scenes of late have both tease and tension . It does not have to be a long plot , just give me some setup and characther . Good plot driven flick's are like Nica Noelle's Sweet Sinner series , and good scene set-up have been from some of New Sensations recent HD stuff . Go back and watch the original Taboo series , Rachel Steel has been doing some very nice work with her REd Milf productions , Milf and stepson type(some are not acted as step either).

I watch porn for the sex, not the story.
A short set up is ok, but then I want some action.
Hollywood has plenty of stories, there's no need for them in porn.
That my humble opinion

I sometimes enjoy story lines, and sometimes would rather just get off. I hope there is room for both gonzo type scenes and story-plot lined movies going forward.
The thing about story lines and acting and settings is they all cost extra money, so studios might move away from that.
I think GFF does a great job in their movies of having a story-line and makes the movies more enjoyable for me. Instead of throwing 2 random girls in a room and telling them to fuck, they do a good job of building tension and anticipation.

Yes, the main attraction of porn is the sexy lady and her sex-action with the guys. The more attractive the lady and the better her sex with the guys, the more successful is her film among porn fans.
For example, Brianna Love's porn scenes were so popular not because she said her lines better and her scenes had better plots, but because Brianna had a better-looking ass and she took on the anal guys pretty good too.
Of course, attractiveness of a lady is a matter of opinion to some extent. For anal porn fans, the lady with the best-looking ass is the most attractive one. For tit-fans, the lady with the best-looking tits is the most attractive one. For romantic fans, the lady with the best-looking face is the most attractive one. And for leg fans, the lady with the best-looking legs is the most attractive one.

Complete bullshit. I'd rather watch a film by P.T. Anderson rather than the moronic power fantasies that most computer games are any day.

Computer games are a step towards virtual reality. They are more real than films are, because you get to interact with the characters and participate in the action.
There is no way passive watching can compete with active participation in the action. Most people would rather be a part of the action, when the action is interesting and exciting. This is just common sense, which eventually will prevail, when computer games become more realistic and more life-like.

I don't know if plot based porn is going to be the futur but if it isn't then I hope that it will at least be well represented and I'm not talking about parodies. Although these may be more or less plot driven. I certainly have no desire to see any of them because I watch parodies to laugh not to get sexually stimulated.
I've said it before that I would love to see some of the great porn movies of the 70's and 80's get remade but I don't actually believe we have the talent necessary to make these movies and even if we did then I don't know if any studio would take the chances since many of the plots were rather taboo. Case in point. The series of movies with the "Taboo" title. Incest in cinema may be acceptable if it's being produced by a mainstream studio and it stars mainstream actors but I don't think it would be if it was done for porn and stragenly the main difference between the two versions is that one is being targeted at only adults while the other could in fact be targeted at a broader market.
I think that a sort of porn like video game will happen but we are not remotely close to that happening with any success. Although Dan is correct that you could create a virtual freestyle porn world where you has a player can go anywhere in the game and have sex with almost anyone else populating that the game. You would still be limited to characters with preset dialogue like you are in every other freestyle videogame so te fantasy aspect would not be exactly the same as if you could have an actual dilaogue with a real person. We are a long way from a virtual world similar to the one in BSG's Caprica tv series.
