I've seen it. From a cinematography perspective, it is well done. From an acting perspective, about what I was expecting from a porn star. Which is to say, really not much. To her credit, however, I've seen mainstream Hollywood performances that were worse. I'd say Sasha hit about the level of your average "Made for TV" B-grade bit actor. Considering she's really no prior experience in dramatic roles, she could make it work.
Its going to be strange to watch Sasha and not be slapping my meat which is typically the case when she is on my screen. She had a couple of good write-ups for her performance in mainstream magazines.
I saw it on amazon.com on-demand, and I really liked it. It jumped around a lot, but I think that this lended to the overall effect well. I liked Sasha's performance and didn't see anything wrong with it. I think that she played her role well.
I watched it today (DVRs - best invention since TV began). Visually interesting. As far as Sasha - looked great...occasionally disinterested. My biggest suggestion would be to innunciate. It almost seemed as if the audio wasn't looped. For any further mainstream projects, I would recommend a theater voice coach to work on projection. The story skipped like a first grader coming home from school. And, for no rhyme or reason, the guy who played the boyfriend has always annoyed me in whatever I've seen him doing. The pacing was slow, but that's on the director. Sasha showed potential, but I think she would do better in a less stereotypical role. That's my 4 cents (inflation), Irish Caraway
I had a SUPER GfE today w/Aiden Starr for Jerkoff Material #3, and one on monday w/Evie Delatosso. If you ask me, Soderbergh casted the wrong Spiegler girl. but he didnt ask me did he, hehe. lates, Von S.
I tried to like it. It didn't work. Maybe I'm too low-brow to appreciate it but it bored the shit out of me. It was cool to see Sasha in a "real" movie though. I hope she gets more opportunities like this.
I'd like to take a moment to celebrate this -- I mean this is pretty amazing... One of "our own" is STARRING in a major motion picture directed by an absolute film-making heavyweight, Steven Soderberg!! I mean, WOW. I know that adult film actresses have shown up in movies before, but this is not a cameo by Chasey Lain in a slapstick comedy or something, this is full-on legit, the LEAD role, with writeups in every major newspaper and everything! Congrats to you, Sasha!!! And this is the same girl who posts in this forum (or used to, I haven't been on in a long time) on all topics, her thoughts on deep-throating, c*m-swallowing, whatever... This is so amazingly cool! :-) Aren't you guys with me here? And Sasha, if you still chime in here, take a bow! *applauds*
^I'm with you. I'm also happy for Sasha starring in this movie. And like I've said before, I hope this opens the doors for other porn stars to successfully cross over into mainstream movies.
I thought the movie was very good, but only in retrospect. It does get a little tedious while you're actually watching it, and the frustrating chronology doesn't help. But once it's done, and you're able to rearrange all of the events chronologically in your head, you may see it like I did: genuine and fascinating in a stream-of-consciousness sort of way. And I have no complaints with Sasha's performance. Anything that bothered me about her had everything to do with the character, not the actress. There's a moment towards the end of the movie, when we see exactly what started a big fight between the 2 main characters, that I downright loathed Christine/Chelsea. But she won me back not long after that. I truly bought every emotion that Sasha conveyed. There was nothing chuckle-worthy about her tearful scenes. And when she busts out laughing during one of her "dates"? Utterly charming.
