To me, people seem to believe that any porn with a good-looking chap in it is couple's porn.
Bollocks.
Having a hot/charismatic guy pull a hot pornochick is a helluva lot more realistic than some hairy ex-con call round with a pizza and his lad sticking out.
I know, I know, "it's *ONLY* porn" and "porn is meant to be fantasy", I hear you all cry.
Butt, I reckon I'm not the only one who finds it a turn-on to see realistic sex. As in some of the better "reality" porn, amongst others.

+1.
The 1980s appears to be the last decade in which any attempt was made in sexvids to match girls and guys based on looks. Today's porn matchings do not resemble the hook-ups I see on campuses or in clubs or office romances.
IMO "couples' porn" no longer exists (Vivid quit producing it in 2004/5) and "mens' porn" is IMO one-sided sex. The role of the woman in "mens' porn" is to be submissive and sexually satisfy as many men as there are in the scene.
"Couples porn" was not just about storylines, but also about sex in the context of a "relationship" between a man and a woman. The sex was about one man & one woman satisfying each other. In today's porn, even when there are one-on-one sex scenes, it's still only about satisfying the guy--not the girl. No wonder so many porn girls don't care about their scenes.

Good subject -- it brings up several aspects of what I think is wrong with porn today.
I couldn't care less about "relationships" being depicted on screen, so I guess that means I'm not into "couples porn". However, I do like it when the girl is enjoying herself -- rather than a "relationship", I like scenes that resemble a great one-night-stand, where both the guy and the girl are satisfied and got the passion they wanted.
I'm also sick of the blatant age disparity between performers. Like Derek said, what we see on screen defies all common sense about what kinds of people hook up (even for a one-night-stand). I really don't like watching a cute 18 year old girl with highlights in her hair getting fucked up the ass by a 40 year old guy with a bald spot, a goatee that was popular 10 years ago, and skin with major sun damage. It kills the scene if "she would NEVER go for that guy in real life" is the first thing that comes to mind the first time you see the two of them in the same room. If I were a producer I would follow the dating age rule for guys "divide your age by two and add six"... so a 18 year old girl shouldn't be with a guy older than 24.

"Couples porn" was simply a moniker designed to get women to watch porn with their boyfriends or husbands. It never worked. Nowadays, the couples porn notion is avoided like the plague because it signifies porn that is lame.

@ john45; why do you have "arthur again" above your avatar?
The "one night stand" thing is a great idea for porn; it allows one to have a short but realistic storyline.
I agree with your man, porn these days is becoming more and more mechanical and is all about satisfying the guy.
Pornochick is thrown into a room with some random sleaze-bag and hey-presto! they just fuck, without any sort of chemistry or moreover, even an introduction.
"We don't need names!" - The typical modern porn scene
Let's just put a chick in neon fishnets, walking up a stairs to a couch, no explanation as to why or how she got there (girls normally do this, you see). She plays with herself while some nasal perv behind the camera drools innuendos.
Suddenly a headless torso on a raging horn just bursts into the frame and sticks it down her throat and she's instantly moaning wildly.
How's THAT for realism.

Actually, I kind of like some of it. It gives you a lot of what's missing in the really hardcore stuff. There's a soft, feminine element in there that you'll never find in "Fuck My Face 16 Different Ways To Mars". If they could find a way to mix just the right amount of nasty and kinky in with the softer stuff, I think it could just be porn perfection. Sex doesn't have to be all business, no emotion, no passion to appeal to a man.

again want to agree with the thread. I think a lot of guys are reluctant to say that porno guys should be attractive because they fear being percieved as gay. Really, we only want to see hot chicks get off. And we know they ain't getting off with many of the guys that regularly work.
In regards to "couples porn", I could care less about relationships being depicted or whatever. Though I do think its pretty hot to see a chick cheating on her man for a hot one-nighter or every so often thing.
It's just about hot sex. And sex isn't hot if the girl is not turned on, no matter hard the dude fucks her or how big the friggn gape is. Ughh..

Quite a lot of so-called couple's porn feature more or less the same hard-to-believe match-ups as gonzo, it's just that the women are treated a bit more respectfully.
There are sooo many scenes that have been ruined for me by the lack of believability that people talk about in this thread. But this just seems to be a perennial fact about porn, ugly older dudes fucking hot young chicks. Perhaps a lot of guys get turned on by the fact that a hot girl is gotten to fuck beneath her, or perhaps it's just that they can more easily imagine fucking the girl themselves if the guy on screen looks rather less-than-average (sort of like themselves but with a bigger dick), or perhaps it's just the uncomfort of having a hard-on while watching a scene featuring an attractive male ("Oh no, can I really be sure that it's the girl that I'm turned on by?") - I dunno, but except for occasional threads like this I don't see any push towards an improvement in this department.

The ONLY reasons I can see a need to cast good looking pornstuds, would be to either appeal to female viewers, or help thaw a starlet's inhibitions for the camera.
Thats it.
Whenever a couple is seen in public, where the guy appears considerably out of his league, theres generally, a natural tendancy to look at the girl as potentially in a state of transition or availability.
This based on the girl's inalienable right to upgrade to her approximate equal.
Sure the variables are then considered , the guy is loaded, the guy has power, maybe she's an escort, etc., but the overwhelming thought is, this girl appears to be romantically motivated by either unconventional, or wholly genuine interests.
Which, or what could those be exactly?
Otoh, whenever you see a good looking guy, with an attractive girl, people naturally think a couple. Their a match until evidence happens to prove them otherwise. Why would you want to see that to spur your fantasy?
To me this simply makes no sense, yet I'm constantly seeing the reason, "For believability", posted, as the apparent justification whenever theres an outcry for better looking pornstuds.
So long as the dude doesn't have open sores, boils, strange growths, or a thick carpet of hair across his carcasse, why should it matter if the guy isn't handsome?

Unless I'm mistaken, I thought the idea was geared toward the pursuit of fantasy, not to make viewers have to hurdle the stark evidence of common realities.

Theres also the very real differences in specific viewer types, that clearly would find them seeking contrasting content for obvious reasons.
Those who watch porn strickly from a sheer voyeuristic standpoint, will obviously differ vastly from those who view from a vicarious one.

It IS a fantasy in the sense that we are watching. We just hope we are watching a girl that s aroused. Not a fuckhole with some dude she loaths.

I can tell you right now that Ariana Jolle's 50 Guy Cream Pie is not a good couples flick... (Not sure what I was thinking when I popped that in the ol' DVD player???)

I don't know about y'all but my fantasies relate in some way to THE REAL WORLD, so the more believable the sex and heat between the performers the better.
Chemistry would be more likely to take place if the men weren't fucking repulsive, but another big problem with modern porn is the massive overacting by the women that is encouraged.
