Apparently, research scientists have found that watching porn naturally boosts your testosterone levels in the blood. And low testosterone levels is something many older and diabetic men suffer from. Hormone replacement therapy might have some bad side-effects. Whereas boosting your testosterone levels naturally by watching porn regularly doesn't have any side effects, except the pleasant feelings associated with sex and masturbation. I don't know if chiropractors regularly prescribe porn watching to correct low testosterone levels in their patients. But this health benefit is certainly something the porn industry can promote, especially among the aging baby-boomer generation. Such promotion of porn might improve porn sales and the image of porn in society.
I love the vindication for watching more and more porn. I must be one of the healthiest guys around as I eat lots of chocolate while watching lots of porn and apparently chocolate is also good for one. Thanks Dan for this post I needed it.

A recent study found that young men who masturbate frequently (2 to 7 times a week) have an increased risk of prostate cancer. http://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/news/20090127/masturbation-and-prostate-cancer-risk
^^^ Association is not the same as causation. According that that study, men in their 50s who masturbate frequently have a decreased risk for prostate cancer. While men in their 20s who masturbate frequently have an increased risk of prostate cancer. Most likely there is some third unknown factor that causes prostate cancer. Perhaps young men who masturbate frequently also engage in risky sex. And some infectious microbes they contract cause their prostate cancer. That's how it works with cervical cancer for women. And it's reasonable to think that something like that happens with prostate cancer too. Whereas most older men probably don't take as many risks with having sex. They are satisfied with masturbation alone. And that's why masturbation benefits them in terms of health.
So if you jerk off a lot when you're younger you increase your risk - and if you jerk off a lot when you're older you decrease the risk? Sounds like it all evens out eventually.
It's probably harder to find female subjects for a porn study like that. Most men would admit to watching porn once in while, when someone questions them hard enough about it. And most men wouldn't have any problem with participating in a study like that. But most women probably would get insulted if some male researchers asked them to watch porn movies.

So I'll keep jerking off a few more years and come out even.
If you wouldn't masturbate frequently in your 20's, you would end up having "wet dreams" frequently which is basically the same thing. I would think that if frequent flushing of the kidneys is a good thing, then a frequent flushing of the prostate is also good thing. If releasing semen was bad for the body, then "wet dreams" would never occur. Anyway it's too late for me since I'm 49. I will be 50 in December, but I don't plan to wait that long to jerk off.

Yes, there have been a number of studies over the years that indicate that watchinhg another male (or even better, many males) have sex with a hot girl dramatically boosts sperm numbers and overall health in the watching male. All links back to our primitive ancestors' desire to live in groups and ensure that each male has the best chance to get his sperm across the line. I also wouldn't be surprised if there is a related deep-seated, unspoken, biological imperative in all women to have sex with another man whilst their long-term mate watches on.
I don't take scientific research on sex that seriously, as a man of science myself I know how statistics can be twisted and how the only results you hear are the ones that show correlation. For example if 10 tests were done to test if mastibation is linked to heart attacks if 9 showed no correlation and 1 did that would be the one to make headlines. I once heard that hot chocolate produces more dopamine than a kiss. What a load of crap. Sure If I had to kiss some troll with a machine strapped to my head whilst surrounded by other equally ugly people watching me then I would have nearly no dopamine release at all but kissing an absolutely beautiful woman who I had strong feelings for then it would be very different. Perhaps men in their 50s who still mastibate regularly are more healthy than guys who don't. Whatever I'm rambling now. Masterbate and have sex because it feels good. You don't need to justify your need for pleasure!
^^^ It's true that you have to look at scientific studies with a skeptical eye. Especially when an association between variables is found without any mechanism to explain how this association works. Because without the mechanism explaining the relationship, it's not clear what is the cause and what is the effect. Before people discovered the existence of bacteria, everybody thought that foul-smelling air caused illness. Because there was association between bad smells and illness. But that belief turned out to be mostly false. In most cases, the foul-smelling air indicates presence of bacteria. And it's the bacterial infection that causes the illness and not the foul-smelling air. Not all scientific studies are equal. Some studies are a lot better than others are. And you need to have a good understanding of the scientific method to know which study is credible and which one is not. But in the end, scientific studies and experiments are better than other methods for finding out what's going on. And if you really want to know what's going on in people's sexuality, including porn. Then you have no choice but to study it using the scientific method. Edited by - Dan on 5/25/2009 4:20:18 PM
^ TBH, I will never trust a "scientific" study that tells me masturbation is bad for me. It may be true and it may not be. It may be a truly unbiased study but you know what? The people who have been doing the "Masturbation is the worst thing in the world!" dance for so long now have cried wolf about a million times too many.
