We all know Adam & Eve have always put out a lot of comp titles, but lately Elegant Angel and FusXion has been doing it too. I heard a rumor that this is because the adult film industry is in trouble financially. I don’t know about all that, but my main reason for the post is how do you feel about comp DVDS? For me I am mixed. I like the idea of a lot of great scenes of one specific genre from a quality company compiled in one disc. But also from what I understand is the performers don’t get a single penny from these comp DVDs. To me that doesn’t seem entirely fair. Granted they get paid a lot of money for the scenes they do, but if the aforementioned scenes are re hashed over and over making the company money but not the girl, doesn’t that seem wrong? i know several performenrs I have interviewed aren't really pro the comp dvd. That performers don't get payed for comps is not wrong imo, they're selling the rights to a scene upon signing the contract... just like selling an article to a paper... unless you're in the position to ask for royalties. It's only in the olden days (say Gilligan's Island) that the actors were paid once and then forgotten. After the success of say, Gilligan's Island, in reruns actors said "Hey, if Joe Producer is making money off my image, then I should too." Enter residuals. Remember the Seinfeld episode where Jerry got writer's cramp because he had to endorse a ton of checks for a buck apiece? those were residuals. They're not always enough to live on, but they sure can be.
