Not so quiet as kept.... anna's carer had wide impact on erotica industry.

After seeing the public response to a larger than "usual" playmate/model, I think a lot of companies smartened up and realized there was money to be made by catering to men who wanted to see that.

i don't think "voluptuous " magazine (or any of the magazines that copy their format) would have ever been created, also don't think the "big butt" genre of porn would have exploded .

there were always mags, films catering to fans of curvy women but often the money and production values behind such things were minimal. There would be just randomly chosen women of varying sizes thrown together...and you had to sift through a lot of straight pigs to see 1 or 2 brick house chicks.

After anna, somebody realized ""hey"...let's get some women who aren't fat...and aren't skinny to take these pictures,etc....

Anna's success opened up lot of doors for voluptuous chicks in all avenues of entertainment....especially softcore and hardcore porn.

It is hard to say specifically because (to me) ALL porn has increased in quality/production value since 1992.

Also in the spirit of this board I can hardly call what Anna Nicole did "porn". Occasional nude/topless modeling is a little different. She had more television/film/advertising work then she did modeling.

I would say she did more for the diet or reality television industries then erotica. (though I won't discount that some people may call her particular brand of media train-wreck erotic).

Nice try, but porn has always had women with a wide variety of body types. Do you remember Buffy Davis?

Her influence is undeniable....

I was never a fan of hers...but in this capitalist country, her success directly and indirectly had impact on erotica industry.

There was money to be made by showing extra curvy women and a lot of people "got it"......and made the money.

Like I said, voluptuous women have always had a place in pornoland.

The trend towards niche marketing has more to do with market forces than with ANC, or any other celebrity. In other words, you have to consider the explosion of players in the porn marketplace, along with the impact of the Internet.

Narrowly targeted web sites are nothing new, so it isn't like porn discovered them. Non-traditional porn players simply picked up an existing web paradigm and applied it to porn's wide-world of fetishes. Considering the success of some of these websites it's no surprise that 'regular' porners should seek profits in those niches as well. The fact that the industry is more crowded than ever simply increases the pressure to specialize.

I disagree that ANC had nothing to do with it.

The life and death of the singer, Selena was the spark that led to the "so called latin explosion" in american media .

People magazine did a special "spanish language "tribute to her..and the sales were phenomenal.....peopel took note, then everybody else tried to cash in on buying power of latin market...

when a so called "niche market" entertainer crosses over...into mainstream.....that niche explodes ...yeah voluptuous chicks existed in porn before.....but the Guess ads, playboy covers, endorsements that ANS got helped expand the niche in porn.

What impact did she make on porn though, specifically?

hehe

next you'll be saying that "American Pie" didn't have an impact on porn

even though it introduced the term "milf" into the popular culture....

Anna reintroduced the hour glass shaped (big tits, small waist, wide hips) woman as sex symbol into popular american culture.... making it easier to market and sell other images of similarly shaped women to the public...

jeniffer Lopez' recent success in mainstream had big effect on the popularity/explosion of the big butt genre in porn....among other ways it influenced popular culture...

I am still saying that A.N.S. had NO impact on porn unless a few Playboy spreads constitute porn. And she invented being a busty model.

Boring work does not an impact make.

I did wank a few times to that semi-hardcore video she made in the late 90s. I'd say that is the only impact she had on porno.

The Score group has been championing 'big' girls before Anna Nicole Smith knew what to do on a stripper pole. Maybe she introduced porn to the denizens in your kneck of the woods, but here the city slickers have been on that for a while.

It is deniable to the extreme. From the mid-90's to early 00's the trend was the thin waif/barely legal look, as characterized by Aurora Snow and Jenna Haze.
It would also ignore trends - right now there is a lot of niche marketing, from busty to barely legal. Curvy has always had a market in porn, which is why implants abound.
The 80's and early 90's also had quite a few curvy types too - it was not a discovery of Playboy that men like this.

Hustler's Busty (they owned it at the time). Cheri in the 80's.
And hey, how about that woman that ANS was trying to look like?

Kirby,

I don't "get" your point, but for the record, I live and work in NYC metro area...the biggest of the "big cities"....so what are you REALLY saying?what's really good?

Fact that you are harping on being a "city slicker" and trying to talk down to others(presumably small town folks) , points out that you don't understand that it's the people who live between LA and NYC who really determine how successful most forms of entertainment really are. Mainstream popular figure like ANS has tremendous influence on how regular people view things...makes it easier to sell/market/package things once you've convinced the general public that something is "hot"

You were smart not to try to challenge my point about "American Pie". Older woman younger man scenes have been around forever, but it's infinitely easier to package/market/sell now that "MILF" has entered the general public's vocabulary.

You were also wise to stay away from my point about J-lo. Her rise changed a lot of things and helped sell a lot of products...

"City Slicker", indeed..ha ha hah

A lot of things don't translate well from popular culture to the porn world. Take the "MILF", for example. I see tons of "MILFs" every time I go out and every one of them look as good as any 20 year old on any porn flick.

If I rent a "MILF" movie, for some reason, all of the appeal is gone. It's like they went to another planet that was sorta, kinda like Earth, in a roundabout way, and got their "MILFs" from there.

A lot of pop culture stuff is just laughable when pornographers (who don't even understand the appeal of it in the first place) try and make it work.

MILFs and J-Lo are irrelevant points when trying to explain ANS's supposed pornographic impact.

I am still wondering what (be specific) porn she had anything to do with?

What did ANS bring to porn that wasn't there before?

A vague resemblance to Marilyn Monroe doesn't count as she was in Playboy herself.

Also, if J-Lo sold big ass porn then you forgot to mention Sir-Mix-A-Lot.

It was Sir Lot's classic song that first got me into liking big asses and, therefore, big ass porn.
Neither J-Lo nor ANS had anything to do with starting my interest in the ample rump.
ANS never really did do anything for me in the arousal department.
As for J-Lo's rear end...

If you look at Playboy before and after Anna Nicole Smith, you will see she didn't even have much of an impact there.
She didn't open much opportunity for anybody, her main impact was as a freakshow - both her marriage, being in courts, and that reality show. Many will take notoriety, but generally it isn't emulated profitably.

She didn't really expand the niche. The classical hot women were curvy to begin with. The "tight sweater" movies were based entirely on the idea that guys like looking at curves. Trends come and go, the '20s and '70s liked sticks, but otherwise you have your Rachel Welsches and Greta Garbos.

If a niche expands so that the people who are working it really bring in the money, the mainstream jumps in. The very fact taht it remains a niche shows the lack of an impact.
