Cause she's already been in 3 Wicked movies already since she came back into the industry? She'a not starring in the film, so she's not getting that kind of promotion.

Haha. I like Randy Spears. When he has the male lead in a Stanley movie, I know he can bring the gravitas that is needed. The only thing that I don't like is that he is going through a skinny phase again. I like him heavier.
I thought I would move my reply over here. I felt like we were derailing that threadExactly. I was literally giddy while watching the first half hour. It was like all my porno movie dreams had come true - but once we hit the sex party I felt the wind escaping the sails. Everything before that had felt so organic and this highly typical segment bummed me out. But I persevered through it and thankfully, the film redeemed itself in the end. It's not perfect, but I liked it very very much. Stanley wrote that the movie was overlit, but I like the results regardless. It makes the loft apartment feel dreamlike and ethereal - translating it into a magical place where these two lovers first meet. Even though he seemed quite upset by that, I consider it to be a happy mistake. Ryder Skye and Sasha Grey were great together.
Ryder and Sasha were great together and acted very well off of each other. To answer a question Blacksix asked me (since others might be interested as well), Ryder's pregnancy is part of the story and both it and the fact that she and Sasha are a lesbian couple are integral to the ending. It's such a shame that a studio like Wicked, with a profit margin of well over $1,000,000 a year still makes an artist like David Stanley include scenes like those in the party sequence. But it's so sadly typical of the modern porn world to silence artistic vision in favor of mindless fornication. I thought the movie looked beautiful. The lighting, with it's cool blues and wintry whites, was instrumental in creating the riveting mood which sadly faded 33 minutes in. But still, I would put The Last Rose as perhaps the # 1 XXX title of the year because in spite of its shortcomings it's head and shoulders above the rest.

I am glad you all saw this movie... it was a ton of fun to shoot. Walking around the set with the fake pregnant belly was super silly so I had to go from goofball personality off camera to serious, distraught girlfriend on camera. Not to mention, I only got to have partial sex with Sasha... since I was a little immobile during that scene... it just isn't fair :).
It would be great to see this movie pick up some awards - particlarly due to the less than admirable way that Wicked (usually a class act) dumped Stanley.
I'm selfish. I want you to watch it just so I can read what you think of it. :) Feature-wise it is my favorite of the year ("Carmen Goes South" is hot on it's heels). Like I wrote - it is very good, far from the typical porno, intelligent and graceful - but it stumbles when it comes to that sex party. I don't know how much of that was the fault of TPTB and how much is the fault of Stanley who would very frequently "cheat" to up his sex scene number by say having his characters watch a porno. He has mentioned that he knows something like that is weak, but it's just so easy to do. Because of that I do not feel comfortable pointing fingers. Your one and only 2008 purchase? That's a lot of pressure. :) I'm equally besotted by a couple of non-features this year - Mason's "Annette Schwarz is Slutwoman 2" and Kimberly Kane's "Morphine" (which has that difficult-to-achieve combo of being absolutely fuckin' gorgeous and incredibly hot). Both are very memorable.
