... And it's _mine_: The Anti-Fetish Menu. Pop in a DVD, go to that menu, click on the particular acts that you _don't_ want to see, and the DVD player will automatically skip over them. Never again would I have to see f*&^ing nauseating A2Ms or idiotic gapes, and the unenlightened heathens who disapprove of my own perfectly wholesome kinks, won't have to see them either. It's a win-win situation! Well, I'm off to the patent office...
You'll also probably have a porn video version of those rap songs from the likes of Eminem where they blank out obscenities to completely disrupt the rhythm, message and worthwhile-aesthetic-sound of the song, so that you'll have an ectopic, erratic, Swiss-cheese-with-big-holes version of a porn film to watch.
Then watch the fans bitch to the director about how bad the 'Anti-Fetish Menu' editing was.
Yes, and what kind of director will allow you that type of 'edit' after they poured their own heart & soul into it...and did their own editing in order to make the movie to THEIR liking?
Not to mention that without the permission of the creator, you probably wouldn't get very far with copyright laws as they are.
Or less depending on which production especially if you watch a film dedicated to gapes and ATMs ! Then you don't need the "anti-fetish", you just drop the DVD in the trash to don't lose time! Hehehe!
You miss the point: The consumer could _selectively_decide_ what they didn't want to see. You only want to skip the gapes, it'd do that, you want to skip the gapes and gagging, it'd do that too, you want to skip everything but the blowjobs... Well, they already have that option.
Trust me, I already skip those. But it _pains_ me to see a girl I like on the cover of a movie like that, knowing that I would be revolted if I actually watched it without extensive fast-forwarding. Someday, the march of technology will solve that problem, and _I'll_ be remembered as the visionary whose idea it was! Mwahahahahhh! ;-)
The idea is that _they_ would be the ones doing the editing. It's just a logical extension of current trends. They already include behind-the-scenes, extended scenes, fetish menus, etc. Obviously, "To their liking" is a pretty elastic concept. If they think it'll get 'em enough extra sales to justify the slight additional costs, they'll do it, 'artistic vision' be damned.
Anyway, while it's be nice if I actually could patent this idea and gouge some licensing fees, I'm pretty sure I couldn't. But someday, I _will_ be able to say "See? I predicted it! I told you so!" :-) And if by some chance someone invented an artificially intelligent DVD player able to recognize and skip 'objectionable' content, I doubt anyone could successfully sue them for it.

Are you God ?
Mmm, hardly , as you seem to have no respect for copyright nor artist's artistic-rights. Had you created something yourself, this probably would be different.
Yes, Ultrasiet is right, Alberto, how could I missed you in my signitature? In my view you are definitely the one great cool guy from the formely "lucky prague crew", ..i mean people around jy lecastel, steve holmes, robert rosenberg and other hungarian boys...you all got the great sense of kinda ironic humor. I can always remember some intro and bts stuff for some RLD Vince Voyeurs movie (probably last volume of XXX road Trip). Veeery funny, boy! tyyy vole...parackos juice? :-DDDD
Do you happen to know if there is still such a good atmosphere, lots of fun and good crew when shooting nowadays in czech? Unfortunately I have no news todays.
EE's, Mr. Holmes's, LeCastel's & Rocco's fan. KURVAFIX! :-DDD
The taste in porn is way different from people to people, the guy dosen't want to see lets say an A2M, if there 3 in a 20 min long scene, it would worth that it get skip...
personally i like the idea, as long as you also have the complet movie and all. Personally i don't like pussy eating, its like that, i hate that, especially when the girl have some hair pussy and the dude get a beard. Then i would turn this part off in the movies. For the ones that like that, fine they let it. Not liking the pussy eating dosen't mean i don't enjoy the rest of the scene, so for the moment i just skip that part when i watch a movie... so that optien would really help me.
This is a good idea. If it it's too expensive to implement, companies could just place chapter stops that allow the viewer to skip forward past the undesired act. Hitting the skip button is easier than using fast forward/search.
I watched a DVD called Tom Byron's POV Cocksuckers that included alot of female to male ass eating which I don't like to watch. I liked everything else in the DVD but fast forwarded through the ass-eating. Some well placed chapter stops would have made this easier. Oddly enough, I love pussy eating, so different strokes for different folks.
The only potential complication is determining what activity should receive this treatment. The programming may get complicated since people have different likes and dislikes. This is why well placed chapter stops may be an easier solution.
Personally, I love the idea of a "Music On/Off" switch, but so far Diabolic/Anabolic and Original Entertainment are the only companies that I know offer this feature.
Whatever features companies decide to offer, they should make sure that they don't put icons on the screen. Multi-angle indicators and menu buttons are as bad as watermarks.
The DVD I most recently bought that had an "Unwanted DVD Enhancement" was Finger Licking Good. The multi-angle icon indicates when the viewer can switch to the section that uses toys. As far as I can tell, the multi-angle indicator can not be removed. Please correct me if I am mistaken. In my opinion, this was an idea that had the best intentions but turned out to be a nuisance.
You didn't notice my apotheosis? Obviously, your corrupt and sinful ways have destroyed your discernment in such things. Repent now, lest you find yourself fed to the Demon Duck of Doom! </sarcasm>
Explain to me how either "Movie makers giving people an extra menu option" or "DVD players being smart enough to recognize and skip unwanted content" would violate copyrights, or 'artistic vision'? No, really, I want to know.
I suppose someone _could_ argue that even using the fast-forward button at all "Creates an unauthorized derivitive work" and "Destroys the directors artistic intent". It would be completely moronic, but someone could argue it.

Because it's not your work. You initially stated this as an idea which YOU wished to patent, therefore editing content which isn't yours (much assuming you've recorded next to nothing in comparison to the vast variety of porn on shelves today).
I find it HEAVILY doubtful that a producer/director will decimate his own work just so people like you can 'pick thru the veggies to weed out the greens'.
The fast forward is what it's meant for, and to be used accordingly. By your idea/patent, you're blatently proposing to edit someone else's work ~ however, suggesting that they themselves do the legwork to slice & dice their own art so that you, the viewer, will be satisfied 100%. For those directors that will furnish such an option, it's called a custom video...you got the cash, I'm sure someone will meet your pleasure. But unfortunately, you're not the only person which the director is trying to please and the idea is pure fantasy until you find a director that will.
You want 100% satisfaction, go push around the bagboy at your local supermarket.
Sweet "Bob", you couldn't tell I was being facetious? :-0 Now I know how the writers of The Onion ( http://www.theonion.com/ ) felt about this guy: http://marchtogether.blogspot.com/2006/07/murder-without-conscience.html .
Unless my understanding of IP law is horribly deficient, you can't patent an idea, only an implementation of that idea. If I was a video programmer and came up with a specific code scheme to implement a certain menu option, I could patent _that_, but then anyone who wanted to would be free to come up with their own workarounds for it. If the original implementation was a good one, they probably wouldn't bother working around it, they'd just pay the inventor his fee and use his application. No one could possibly _force_ them to. Market forces might, but that's capitalism for you. (IANAL, etc)
As for the Smart, Auto-Skipping DVD Player, someone could patent that one too, but they'd be so rich from all the other applications of that sort of AI, it'd be almost an afterthought.
Right. That's why there are so many menu options already. And why compilation tapes are so common.
If a given feature is cheap enough, and brings in enough extra revenue, then hell yeah they'll do it. These are businesspeople we're talking about, not air-headed "Artistes". If the conditions of the market change (which change is happening more and more rapidly) and they don't change with it, they'll go out of business.
So that's what you do for fun. Hope that works out for ya.

It must be nice to have an answer for everything, facetious or not.
I just wanted to point out that yours isn't the most brilliant idea anyone has ever had. I actually had the most brilliant idea anyone has ever had about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, I was under the influence of alcohol at the time, and I forgot what it was the following morning. But to this day I remember that it was indeed the most brillian idea anyone has ever had.
Was it the idea where you, Christian X, and Leah Luv came over to my house and did terrible things to me? If that idea had actually been undertaken, then yes, it _would_ have been the most brilliant ever. Sadly, that moment has passed, never to be regained... ;-)

Being a pissant smartass is right up there, too, I see.
A brilliant retort for someone who so far, seems to have lost every point that hinged on fact rather than opinion. I'm in awe.

I reiterate what I said last, and you're proving my point +1 for being "gutless". No ID, no email, just another gust of wind talking out of his ass.
Take it offlist, my email isn't hidden. The mods will be happy to break us up otherwise, I'm sure.

You want some facts?
CleanFlicks.com has been sued by several Hollywood studios because of their practice of editing out profanity, sex, violence and anything deemed 'unclean'. There is another company that I can't remember the name that has also been sued.
It's a slightly different situation, because those companies are doing it without the previous-approval of the studio.
I do agree that well-placed chapter stops is a solution that Evil Angel already implements.

It's all depending for who you work for... In the scenes I directed for PRIVATE last year I used to interact with the girl during the scene and add, beside 15 cum shots, some kind of really cynical humor ! By the way if Craven Morehead (NORTH POLE) comes to Europe like I asked him yesterday then some kind of humor is on the way... !
Alberto, I see, thanks for your answer. I have found that older Devil Films, some Digital Sin, definitely all Rocco movies and especially older RLD productions till 2004 are the real treat regarding funny moments and true enjoyment.
No, now I wish to be the same nowadays and I really wish me to be there too. That must be total enjoyment! If there is one thing which I love on porn, its not the girls, not the banging stuff, but its the fun you can enjoy during shooting. Really.
Rally? Interesting and good to know... I'll take notes of this as I'm directing some stuff soon !

Eric381, if a pressed original DVD has this feature it is not "copywright infringement" it's no different to alternate angles feature, which is in the DVD spec. Porn directors could use alternate angles whenever during a "fetish" section.

You didn't read what I said all too well.
I said (I think) it'd be highly unlikely that a director/producer is going to put that much more work into a title just to appease people who are only happy with 20% of the title to begin with.
There's something for EVERYONE in porn as it is. There's a performer you like in SOMETHING. Just because you don't like the acts she performs, doesn't mean producers are going to bend over & blow the consumer.
That wasn't a conditional request. Just because somebody says something that upsets you or that you take personally doesn't mean you have to answer it. So don't.
Good. Ok, drop the note here for me when you will be shooting it. I have a lot of ideas by the way on porn, even Jean Yves LeCastel told me once that I would be a good director...hehe
