I'm always on the lookout for the newest, hottest porn. I have a drawer full of DVDs loaded with great scenes, and yet I'm always waiting for the next release of AGSOI or Feeding Frenzy to see the latest and greatest starlets doing their thing. I'm trying to get more and more selective about what DVDs I'll purchase, but often I'm still suckered in by a great cover, or the latest entry in a series I've liked.
I will always have my all-time favorite scenes, and pulling them out after they've been "mothballed" for a few months is always a treat - they're almost like new (but of course not quite). Their are relatively few scenes that bear up watching more than a half-dozen times. For me, most of them involve Brianna Blaze - but that should not be a surprise to anyone who has read my posts these last several months.
This phenomenon reminds me of what happens in romantic relationships. Once the "newness factor" wears off, the relationship becomes more about other things than attraction and sex (Which has other benefits, but that's a whole other discussion!).
With pornstars, I get a minor crush on this or that star, which usually wears off after I've seen a few of her scenes. Again, there are exceptions.
The "shock of the new" rules the day. Even advertisements stress that a product is "new" before mentioning the quality or utility of said product.

Yeah I can absolutely relate to what you said. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a hot new video and said to myself "Wow this is a hot one. I'll be watching this video, and only this video, for weeks". And then in a day or so I'm back at the store looking for the latest one's. Soon I forget about the "hot new video" that I recently got. I have to go back and remind myself what was so special about it at some point.
Same with stars. I go through phases with different starlets. I go through an Asian phase with Nautica Thorn or Luci Thai. A teen stage with Teagan or Nadia Styles. Whatever. But I am always in search of the next greatest thing.
As far as the old tapes go, sometimes I will look at an old favorite and ask myself "What was I thinking?" because it no longer works for me. I have a pretty fair sized collection of porn, and a lot of it I haven't watched in some time, and have no interest in seeing it anytime soon.
Unfortunately, my problem may be a little bit more severe. I have to have at least one of anybody that is being dicussed in this forum, whether they are old or new. It's like I don't want to be kept out of the loop so if there is a discussion about her, I have to puchase her dvd. I have to avoid reading posts older than 30 days. I happened to read an old post called "The Name Game" which tried to match Euro babes with their aliases, and now I'm buying Private compilations just so I know that I have "that girl" in a video that I own. The worst part is at least 50% of the videos i've never watched or just fast forward thru them. CALL ME A SHRINK. I NEED HELP!!
cumwhipper, i totally understand what you are talking about because i have the same approach to porn. but i don't think of it as a problem at all. i think browsing the shelves of your local video store and choosing a tape or disc to rent is great fun that doesn't need to be organized at all. watching old tapes is totally fine with me, but you just can't beat the excitement of a movie you never have watched before.
i too develop a minor crush on a new star every now and then, but i also have my all-time favorites (judy starr, rita faltoyano, julia taylor, jenna haze, asia carrera, amee donovan etc... dana vespoli might make it on that list in the near future).
the only problem you could have is that you spend too much money on porn, but in that case, it helps to rent the movies and only buy the best ones.

I think porn can at times, reflect or mimic certain aspects that occur in relationships, but when considering how often, and limited these two options are relied on to scratch the same itch, it should come as little surprise..

The most economical solution for those who have this problem is to RENT videos. That is what I do. Find an online video rental business that mails out the product from a city that is close to where you live. Then you get the fastest turn-around time on delivery and return of the discs. There are many different sites to choose some, just do some research. The other key factor is to find one that has a large inventory of videos - including especially the NEWWST stuff.
I have the 2-discs-at-a time plan. I get the discs one day after they mail them because the company is in my city. They get them one day after I mail them too. So if I watch them right away I can average 4 discs per week, that's 16 per month and I am paying only $ 14.99 per month for the service. That's less than a dollar per disc. Many times you will have to be on a waiting list for the newest and most popular videos, but there are always plenty of great ones available. I do my research on this site to determine what to rent.
