1. You assume their is a large enough domestic market in India for porn when overwhelming majority of population is poor. How many people even have TVs to watch porn or even electricity to power them?
2. You assume India doesn't already have a source for domestic porn production, similar to how Japan has their own local JAV companies. But I believe that source is underground or black market and not open commercial? (See (3)).
3. The country is a theocracy ruled by religious sects. Any open distribution of porn would be squashed and severely punished. Yes they can and do access porn over the internet from sources outside the country but country could setup censorship firewalls like China and you still have the economic problems listed in (1) which limits your internet audience.
4. The performers and their families would face death threats and retribution from religious zealots. We have all seen "honor killings" committed by nut jobs against indian women in other countries. Well within indian such acts often go unpunished although government has tried to crack down on them. And those honor killings were committed against these women for doing a LOT less than performing sex acts on camera. Also indian males would probably prefer to watch other indian males perform sex with these women and not watch white males bang their women. Again like Japanese domestic porn guys use japanese males. The viewers want to imagine themselves having sex with the women.
5. Women who are attractive enough to appear in porn probably have much better options available to them in India than doing porn. They could marry rich guy or be his mistress. They don't have to do porn like women in other countries.
6. Limited foreign market (outside India) for indian pornstars. Even in the U.S. the number of indian women who have done porn is very small but that is because they are such a small percentage of the population and most of them do not come from poor families. However, the UK has larger population of indian women and has had more indian porn performers. Still none of them have had as much success as the white females? So that says yes there is niche market for indian pornstars but not a large fan base in UK and U.S. as there is for white pornstars.
