FYI whomever and whoever are both proper uses Doc. And I wasn't bitching, I and I'm sure quite a few others have never heard of those girls....that's all.

Example 3 doesn't underline your usage. Example 2 does seem to do so, however; but it sounds very uncommon as a complete sentence. I would like to see its exact origin and check whether it's not yet really only a clause and only partially quoted here.
