Add in all the girls who say they are not escorts but accept allowances from "friends" (aka sugar babies); you get even a bigger number. I know someone in university in washington state, and she claims that the vast majority of women in her school are paying their tuition from male "friends" (basically sugar daddies). The most obvious ones are the Unemployed 22 year olds showing up with 2000 dollar handbags and leased BMW's and stuff like that. They don't consider it prostitution because it is just one guy (or maybe 2) that they see regularly and get allowances and spending money and so forth. The sugar baby business is booming. In Bombay, India statistically theres like 400000 hookers ignoring the street sellers , building labourers etc etc who would or would not succumb if asked. Against a total population of 12mil that 3.3% or 6% of the female population. These figures cant be extrapolated for India as a whole btw cos Bombay attracts hookers from all over the country/countryside. D) it gives the illusion of a real girlfriend and it makes a lot of men feel good about it. It can often be more than sex because you might go for dinner, or travel together, or see a movie, or whatever else E) some men find it appealing to know they are helping a girl go through school or have an nicer life and not just wondering if that 300 bucks they paid an escort went to drugs or a "boyfriend" (aka pimp). The sugarbaby thing is not just restricted to married men looking for something on the side. There a lot of single men who go the sugar baby route...... maybe they are really busy and don't want that expectation of time commitment, maybe they have had a few bad relationships and don't want the hassle, and plenty of other reasons. Everyone has their own reasons, these are a few I would point out. The appeal from a woman's perspective is she gets a better life without having to get into prostitution scene with multiple guys, the associated risks of violence and assault, law enforcement, pimps, drugs, and the general life of disposable and assembly line sex. She also gets someone she can screen, get to know, and may actually even like being around. A lot of people find it abhorrent, I get that. However, it is an arrangement that has a lot of positives in the eyes of people involved and it is more widespread than you may think. [Link] |
