Hey everyone...must apologise in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere...i searched but couldn't find any threads on it,just curious if anyone knows why most of the directors left redlight/pxp sometime mid last year,it's like the anabolic exodus a few years back!...bit sad really, kinda miss most of my fave talent being under one roof as it were...thanks in advance everyone, have fun
All gone to Evil Angel by the looks of it. Manuel, Jake Malone, Brandon Iron, Micheal Stefano. All seem to be working at Evil Angel either as directors or performers. Not going to knock that though as Evil Angel are producing some of the best porn ever at the moment. It looks like only poor old John Strong is left holding the fort at RLD and PXP at the moment.
i agree they are(redlight/pxp)still putting out some great product as are evil angel...was just curious why most directors up n left at the same time pretty much...now i have to search under about 5 studios looking for product from my fave directors like brandon iron...tim von swine...vince voyeur..jake malone...erik everhard...david luger...instead of one...damn inconveniance of it oh well haha and to be honest i find the product that jake and erik etc are shooting for evil angel to be pretty much the same as what they did at redlight but at quite often at least twice the price(for me anyway) ...i know i'm opening a can of worms here but hey it's just my opinion and who am i! thanks for your input
Oh yes. I forgot Mr Pete had defected from Third Degree to RLD. To be honest porn seems much like corporate management. They all do the rounds and go from company to company. Which is fair enough because you can't expect the guys to hang around doing the same thing anymore than the girls. I'm a fan of RLD and PXP and have a lot of their stuff. But I do think Evil Angel stuff is of a slightly better quality as they tend to expand a little bit more on the generic gonzo themes and their stuff is a bit edgier. It's all different markets at the end of the day and there are so many porn fans wanting different things that even slight variations can satsify certain needs.
yeah absolutely...porn would be pretty damn boring if we all liked the same thing,my take on it is(and this may seem petty)i like the look to imitate what i experience in my personal life and i just don't seem to end up sleeping with women who are overly made up(a la post nightclub).maybe why i like the more natural look of the girls in say dave lugers movies...like i said..thankfully not everyones like me and has fantasies, hence such variation and rightly so.i also prefer to see new girls more rather than the same albeit experienced performers and feel u.s porn sometimes leans too much towards experience, maybe why i'm purchasing more euro produced stuff lately.
Stefano, along with Jewel, Dion Giarusso and David Joseph were the founders of PXP. Jewel & Stefano sold their portion to Dion & David and then David bought out Dion (he did the same with Red Light).
Stefano is still directing for Red Light. I heard that Brandon has stopped directing and has gone back to performing only.
After most of the PXP/RLD directors left, the rest of the directors started performing for other companies. Previously, they performed exclusively for the other PXP/RLD directors.
What is the last/most recent work that Brandon has released as a director? This may sound like a left-handed compliment (I don't mean it as such), but I'd actually rather see Brandon continue working as a director if he had to choose between them. Though, unless you have ownership, I guess it's way more profitable to fuck for $800 a day ... less worries, more pussy. Can't blame him, but I really thought he had some of the more original variations on all the niche themes. I'll really miss Baker's Dozen and AGSOI ... damn!

My guess is that Brandon is throwing all his directorial energy into the websites he's recently created. Owning your own product isn't as profitable when the results are selling at the lowest price point on the market. RLD may move a lot of units, but I think the profit margins are slim, at best. I think that's also the reason David was happy to see some of the directors go. He hires directors at a specific price and gives them a budget. No sharing at the other end.
Be thankful you're getting any sex at all! Porn is all I have : ( I stand corrected on just about everything I've said in this thread. I clearly do not know anything!
There is alot of exclusive content on covermyface.com And spermcocktail.com has some unreleased gems as well There is updates every few days to my knowledge.
But yes to the subject of this thread imo RLD/PX still make good product and i still buy there titles. Things always change thats life!
Anyone who is over 18 and wants a free trial access to my sites can e-mail me at brandoniron_99@yahoo.com. Just confirm your age and enjoy 3 hours on the house! You get to check out loadmymouth.com (based on 50 to 1), covermyface.com (based on Baker's Dozen), and spermcocktail.com (based on A Good Source of Iron). I'm updating loadmymouth.com 3 times per week. The other sites get between one and two updates a week.
RLD and PX won't even be distributing soon as it will be turned over to another distribution company.

The problem with this is that the quality of most website clips isn't even close to a real DVD. Most don't even publish exactly what video/audio bitrates they encode in and you don't find out until you join.
This is why I usually don't join website and would rather wait until their content shows up on a DVD somewhere.
That's exactly why I encourage anyone who likes the content I produce to write me at brandoniron_99@yahoo.com, confirm your age, and get a free trial access. It costs you nothing and the feedback I've received from people who don't normally join sites has been very positive.
I can shoot a scene, edit it, and have it sent for an update much more efficiently. Far less post-production costs, fewer delays, less accounting nightmares, fewer middle men.

After watching my local Tower Records go under due to competition from online services like ITunes, I've begun to wonder when the "a la carte" style of downloading was going to become more prevalent with major adult vid producers. Seriously, most of these videos have maybe one or two girls I'm actually interested in watching so why spend money on the entire DVD? And wouldn't it cut the producers costs if they focused on releasing the scenes they know people will buy as opposed to shooting several scenes of filler just to get the DVD finished and on the shelves?
I think when the quality of online vids meets or exceeds the quality of DVD, that is when adult brick and mortar retailers are really going to feel the pinch as others in different markets already have.
Watching porn by downloading clips is a major hassle which I will never do, but I can understand the economics. Does ADT pull the plug when DVD porn is gone?
At the end of the day there will always be people that want to buy something physical and those that want to download. I guess it's partly a generational thing, younger people are more into downloading, whereas older people such as myself who can still remember the days of vinyl prefer to have something physical in our hands. I've never downloaded any music or porn from the internet. I prefer to buy CDs and DVDs at the end of the day. It's more tactile for me and I feel like I actually own something.

The technology still isn't there yet. It takes a long time even on broadband to download just one scene and the video quality is usually shit. Until that day, I still go down to my local video store and buy or rent the titles I want.
Sorry for straying off the original topic but that is where the thread started drifting to.

I disagree. I watch porn exclusively on my PC and have for several years. While many sites do provide crappy WMV files that are hard to watch, not all of them do.
Of course, DVDs are the gold standard but for those of us who like just getting a scene at a time, as opposed to the whole DVD, broadband and web sites are quite adequate.

OK then, I'll take you up on that offer for loadmymouth.com and check it out. I will let people know exactly the video quality (not the CONTENT, but the actual techincal details).
For the record, I do realize that the economics of the business do favor online distribution. Also, there are some online sites that DO offer exceptional HQ video that is not quite DVD, but good enough. Often these sites encode their videos at > 2000 kilobits/sec. An example is inthecrack.com, some clips from clips4sale.com and obviously any of the HD video sites will offer exceptional quality.
But these sites are truly the excpetion. Most places just continue to offer sub-quality WMV, MPEG-1, or MOV content which doesn't even come close to real DVDs.
The ultimate setup would be something that I think Mike South does. He allows you download the actual DVD complaint MPEG-2 files. They are quite large, but you get the absoulte best quality and you have the choice of either viewing it on your computer or burning it to a DVD and losing nothing in the process.
The dream setup would have a site that offered media in a "scene" format where each scene was offered in medium quality clips all the up to the whole DVD quality.
Then, and only then, would I totally forget about purchashing physical DVDs.
My problem with the three sites (loadmymouth, covermyface, & spermcocktail) is that I can't tell if the scenes are ones I already own or have previosly seen. I own all the Baker's Dozen DVDs and have viewed the entire 50to1 and AGSOI series and from the look of the previews, none of the content appears to be new/exclusive. I would suggest having an update page where the scenes are displayed chronologically and along with the screenshots, you could let the viewer know what movie the scene originated from or if it was a web-only.
Any plans to bring the Ten Little Piggies series onto the Internets?
Are you sure iTunes is to blame? I've always thought stores like Tower Records go under because online CDs sellers are cheaper, not (only) because of iTunes. At least that's the reason why I visit "real" stores less frequently: I'm not interested in downloading (be it songs, film, porn clips...) but definitely into buying cheaper (cds, dvds...).

To clarify, I feel that online merchants in general have taken a huge bite out of the market for places like Tower and Suncoast who are still trying to sell entire CD's and DVD's at full MSRP. Whether these online merchants sell in digital or physical format doesn't matter. They are still cutting into the middle man's profits and making it unfeasible to continue business as they have been. They must adapt by becoming online retailers themselves with less profitable locations disbanded or they will go out of business as online retailing proliferates. I've already personally seen this play out in the gaming industry and blogged about it here and to a lesser extent here

The reason for Tower Records going belly up is that they never made much money on CD sales to begin with and the music industry has been in a slump, not only saleswise, but artistically. In fact, everyone in the entertainment industry has been suffering and they're all pointing at downloaders and pirates as the cause of their problems. The economy sucks and there are less entertainment dollars to go around. I don't care what the stock market looks like or the gov't tells us about a robust economy. The money is going into fewer and fewer pockets and the cost of living keeps rising faster than the bulk of the populace can keep up with. Porn has been in a slump the last year or so and companies are cutting back or going out of business. Online delivery is less costly and more efficient for videos that go scene by scene. I don't think it's a good setup for the more ambitious features yet. Quality is, and should be an issue, making DVD production a still viable institution. And as for ADT, Drew and Steph were already floating ideas for a name change to the site as it has become much more than DVD's at this point.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't RLD/PXP started following a mass exodus from other companies? I seem to recall similar happening with Elegant Angel and Extreme. I suppose it's just the porn "circle of life"...
Again, you have nothing to lose by taking a free trial access. I don't spam you or collect your address and sell it to anyone. It's just 3 free hours to look around and see how the site works. You can't download entire scenes but you can download parts. The speed and quality are pretty good according to many online reviewers such as rabbitsreviews.com.
The problem with dvds is that I don't control the price and I have to trust a distributor telling me how many units were sold. My experience with the websites has been much better/smoother. Memberships are a fixed price and each check has been higher than the previous one. I'm paid on a timely basis, too, which makes it easier to keep shooting new stuff. The math is just less "fuzzy."
You simply go to covermyface.com, spermcocktail.com, or loadmymouth.com and on the first page of each site there is a button saying "Click here to see updates." You see screencaps, length of scenes, date it was updated, and which site it is for.
Or, you can look further ahead to see what is coming up by going to any of the sites, clicking on member's login, and on the far left side you will see "Upcoming Updates." These go out several weeks, usually.
Yes, I would love to do Ten Little Piggies if I found someone to distribute it. It wasn't the best-selling series but I really enjoyed doing it. Volume 9 really stood out and had the best Toeses Like Roses ever.
First of all, Michael Stefano is not at Evil he is still at RLD/PXP, in fact he is now the production manager there! He also co-owns The Candy Shop with RLD owner David Joseph so he's still in there. Jewel was asked to leave because she publiclly dissed Redlight, not too smart! Also, she never never even shot her own movies, she only came in every once in a while and let's face it, the only reason whe was even a part of the start of PXP because she was married to Michael!!! I hate how she always jumps on to diss anyone there still. How does it feel to have your Mom getting so much more mainstream publicity than you. We have a lot of new talent and Michael has given us creative control over our box covers, it's a new era! I love the way Brandon Irons performs because he's such a woman hater but I just don't get the turn on about having a woman drink your piss. That's just straight out degredation! Mommy issues? The reason Brandon left was he was NOT a team player, he was bitter, he barely spoke to anyone, he was so obviously miserable, I'm sure he'll be much happier wherever he winds up. He has a lot of fans out there! I think you're one sick muther-f-er Brandon but that's whats hot. You'll do fine!!
I think RLD/PX trivial politics needs to end. Brandon iron,Jewel etc etc moved on and so do plenty of other directors from various companies. Its nothing new to me. I think its unprofessional to slag and talk about other companies on here. Especially If your working within a company or in the industry. Business is business. I still like RLD/PX.
Kristie: I have nothing bad to say about you so I would kindly ask you to show me the same courtesy. Unless and until you are in the same position as I am, you have no right to say anything about me or my work. You know very little about me and even less about how things were handled on a business level for directors who owned product.
I wish everyone there the best but would hope to have the terms of a signed distribution agreement honoured. They were not. Nothing more needs to be said.
