Begs the question, and maybe there's no clear answer:

How would you define "big name" studio?

Can it be done by total sales? Are such numbers available? Or are there other useful criteria?

It seems to me that what was fringe in the past has been more and more adapted by every studio.

Just wondering. Anyone who cares to answer, your thyoughts?

I'm sure there's a few others. These are just my impressions of what the "big" studios are, and honestly I can't tell you why these ones made the list. It certainly isn't because they all put out great videos (hello AllWorlds and Catalina). Maybe GaySatyr can better articulate why some studios are "big" while others are not.

The thing is, there's been some kind of agreement between all the "big" studios to always show safe sex (which up until now has been condoms and no oral cumshots, tho a few oral cumshots have slipped through the cracks). They all know that if one of these studios didn't abide by those rules, then it would be nearly impossible for the other studios to try to take the high road.

I'd actually be kind of worried if I were San Fran F.F. right now. Their main selling point (IMO) is all the cumeating (which is obvious, due to how well their cumsuckers series sells). If all the big studios start shooting cum-eating too, they aren't going to have much left to differentiate themselves from all the other smaller studios.

Studios are always stealing each others stars and concepts: If it sells, it must be a good thing; and, if you can sell it, I can (or should be able to) sell it better - hopefully edging you out of the picture. It's called capitalism.

Oral cumshots are making a return because the industry needs something new to spark sales after a three-year recessionary slump. Having been repressed because of AIDS for well over a decade, Larger boutique and mainstream studio executives see oral cumshots as a somewhat safe way to sell new product and still remain moderately politically correct. They feel the pressure from fringe studios and new boutiques, like SX Video, Hot Desert Knights, and Cobra Video, who are offering fresh bareback titles, regardless of the message such product may carry.

I realize that I may well be in the minority; however, with AIDS numbers in the gay community on the rise again, I don't see this as a good thing. Life imitates art all too often.
