I wanted to start a topic about what we think of porn in 2016. Many of us have been watching porn for years, and so we can compare it to different time periods. To me, the best time since 2000 was probably about 05-09. So, what do you love about the industry right now? Who is a starlet that makes us forget that Jenna Haze or whoever isn't working anymore? What's a trend that's great? What's happening right now that is lame? Right now, a big gripe I have is "nudes" in porn. So many girls right now get completely naked, rather than keeping their heels or stockings or whatever on for at least half the scene. I don't know if that is a director thing or a starlet thing, but you dress these girls up so sexy and then they're naked immediately. Abella Danger is the biggest perpetrator of this. The slow down in production sucks as it makes it harder for directors and performers to make a living but it nice to have the overproduction and industrial feel of so many releases abate. Bodywise things seem to be becoming less interesting with fewer curvy woman working and fewer latina and black women working. Loving Valentina Nappi. Karlee Grey is terrrific but I wish she'd shoot more with the directors I like.
I wanna like Japanese stuff so bad, but the edited junk makes it unwatchable for me.

Funny. I want the girls completely naked from the first minute and I completely don't understand why the girl continue to wear heels once the fucking starts. Some of the shoes and boots the girls wear are like weapons. I'm surprised some poor guy hasn't been wounded by a stray high heel.

From homemade Iphone vids to high-end productions with casts and credits and lighting and audio gear...it's all available today. That's porn in 2016. Anyone can shoot porn these days, and they do. Some of it is pure crap. Some of it is discussed ad nauseum on forums and garners critical acclaim. That's part of the charm in Porn '16. It's all at your fingertips nowadays. Euro porn, basement porn, mansion porn, incest porn, Asian porn, Brazilian porn...WHATEVER YOU WANT (legal anyhow) is just a few clicks away. You can watch it on yer laptop, yer phone, or get it sent via snail mail to pop in yer DVD/Blu-Ray/Laserdisc/VHS/Beta whatever... One of the BTS things I watched recently said there's no more porn stars. Jenna Jameson is who'd you'd have to call if you wanted to talk to a porn star. I'm not buying it. Some of these new comers like Gina Valentina, Amara Romani, Dani Daniels, Missy Martinez are going to build EMPIRES if they approach the business the right way. I love that girls get completely naked, I mean isn't that what we want to see after all? I don't mind if they start off in sexy outfits, but it has go once the sex starts. Geez, another "state of porn" thread? I'm so sarcastic because these threads all end up resulting in the same thing-us fans expressing what we like/dislike about today's porn. I'd rather get the perspective of "people in the know," as in those who are actually in the porn industry (stars, directors, producers or even just someone who owns or works for a porn store), as to what the true "state" of the industry is today.
I didn't mention quality of features at all, just checked the box that they are available. Wicked and A&E are both putting them out on a regular basis domestically and Dorcel is putting out way more than 1 title a year. Now, if your definition of feature revolves around some Tarantino-esque mythology that it has to be shot on film (the more obscure the format the better) and presented in ultra-widescreen - I understand your point and agree with it. But we are discussing Porn '16. Type "feature" into any adult dvd buying site and you'll get a ton of hits. My definition of Feature, in this instance, is fairly modern, due to the time we are talking about. 2016. My definition of feature is something couples can enjoy together, which revolves around a storyline and features one girl, or one couple, or maybe multiple pairings...with the same thread being followed. If you've got close friends (platonic or otherwise) a "feature" might be something you could toss on the bigscreen with them and nobody would freak out/laugh/ruin the moment because there isn't a camera guy microscopically inspecting every orifice as is so common in other genres. But I do understand you've been at this way longer than I have on a serious level. If you've got a stash of 35mm film reels and a projector that you wanna drag to Phoenix...I'd be interested in watching some true old school features with ya!
From what I see, for the most part, porn has gone full circle and has returned to the early 70s. Feature movies are essentially non-existent today. Maybe three good ones might come out a year. The rest are, well, they are. The product that is being cranked out left and right are single scenes, reminiscent of the days of loops. Fans of various studios lament if too much time goes by without a new scene and quantity seems to win over quality. Some companies like Blacked are putting the art back in and doing well.

"All porn is the same" is just like "The only thing on television is shitty reality shows" If all you can find on TV is shitty reality shows then you need to change the fucking channel, and if you think that all porn is the same, then you aren't watching the right porn.

I agree, as an industry performer the industry is not listening to consumers and that's why production is way down. Consumers want to see variety- not just the same old stuff over and over.

I studied architecture in college. I'm a big fan of Frank Lloyd Wright's work. The cantilevered roof lines, built from concrete and open floor plans are wonderful designs, with the exception of a few roofs leaking. The switch from warehouse sets, where a tilt of the camera reveals a warehouse ceiling, to exotic California mansions, set atop beautiful views of the valley is great for me. I love the pool designs, with the edges flush with the horizon. Those Marc Dorcel sets, in gaudy European French bordellos, with gold leaf décor and porcelain statues and vases turns me off. I love the cartoon PSA about Aids that Marc Dorcel includes in his titles. Hilarious! So, if company scouts can look for not only new, pretty faces and search the house rental ads for beautiful architecture, I'll remain a loyal customer who pays for his porn.

This is how I feel. And it wasn't frost bite, but the flow of the game was infinitely better. All these half ass penalties. Roughing the passer is ridiculous at this point. I made my comment with tongue in cheek, but I have no doubt, you fredgee and many others feel that way. I legitimately do prefer music from decades ago. I prefer older movies and plenty of older things. It's a natural product of getting older and there is nothing inherently wrong with it. The problem I have with fredgee's incessant wining about the industry is that it is completely myopic and ignores some pretty obvious truths. He seems to think that the reason that so much porn is being made that doesn't suit his taste is because the industry is ignoring what the public wants (and he often implies this is racially motivated) when the reality is that like every other content creation industry, it is evolving to suit the tastes of the masses. I may think that Taylor Swift sounds like two cats fucking behind a trailer park, but that doesn't mean that millions of people don't like her. There's a reason I can't watch a primetime NFL game without have her rape my eardrums repeatedly. It's because she's wildly popular. Whether I like him or not, that no-talent little Canadian shit Bieber is wildly popular too. Lots of shit we don't like is actually really popular. I've never met a single person that likes Big Bang Theory, but damned if it isn't one of the most popular shows on TV. I have no interest at all in watching two women sit around and lick each other's assholes but there sure is a fucktonne of it being made lately. If you find you like less and less popular stuff it's almost certainly because you are no longer a member of popular culture. Welcome to the minority. There's a company called Jules Jordan Video. But they tend to push things a little too much for my tastes. I can take about one of them scenes, but me I want to watch at least three scenes. Then I can't be pushed over the edge all the time.
There's this doc on Netflix right now called "X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All Time". I've watched most of it and will finish it later when I have the time. I think that the "classics" from the 70's through the 90's are sooooo over-rated. I believe that porn took a huge step forward in the 2000's. I'd take any of Belladonna and/or Jay Sin's lesbian/anal fetish videos over any of the critically acclaimed x-rated films before them. I also think that 2016 is the best time for porn consumers. There's so much variety. You want porn with a decent story and ladies that look like movie stars? Need leading male studs with your porn? You want BDSM? You want Hardcore anal with an actress who looks like the girl next door? She-males? Threesomes? Orgies? Romantic lesbians? All girl with anal play? Gang bangs? It doesn't matter you can find in on the web. Also the film quality of older porn is atrocious. Many times a video would come to mind that I remember from decades ago. I would find a copy and in comparison to what we have access to today the older stuff has terrible audio/video quality. I rarely download anything less than 720p unless I'm really into the performer. Anything below today's standard definition quality I find to be almost unwatchable. I must say that I disagree with "nudes" in porn being a negative... ...obviously it's all subjective and people like what they like. All I need in my porn collection is sexy naked women pleasuring themselves or getting all up in other women. Anything added to that, outfits, costumes, lingerie, socks, shoes or male performers only obstructs my view of voluptuous female bodies (head to toe) doing incredibly nasty stuff. But like I said in 2016 there's enough porn available for everyone to enjoy whatever they want in high definition.

The great thing about time is we can look back and decide what era was good then it is a matter of recreating the era..that sounds simple but when a industry is monopolized it is almost impossible to regain control..that is one issue porn faces there are others but big studios have a monopoly.
