I lived in Montreal for a few years and still visit friends, while it was a mixed lot like anywhere the openly racist statements against immigrants (particularly Muslims), indigenous and Jewish people was shocking to me coming from the West Coast. My time in Alberta I also encountered a lot of open talk but Quebec was something else.
