When I see the word pornstar, I automatically think of legends of the industry like Jenna jameson, Jenna haze, Gina Lynn, Katja kassin or any of those other popular professional adult actresses who have been in the biz for many years and have conjured up 250+ or so movies to their names. Yet these days I see newbies with less than 10 movies referred to as pornstars too and somehow the title loses its meaning/significance. Perhaps the industry oughta come up with a different title for each stage of a porngirl's career until she reaches the pinnacle and truely deserves the PORNSTAR title.

I agree with you. I've been with a girl who was probably in 3-4 movies, and I say "she's been in porn" but I have never called her a pornstar before. There's a thread on "one hit wonders" which they define I believe as less than 10 movies.

There are girls, or guys, who are pornstars because they have already established their place in the porn pantheon. Sure. Capitalize it Pornstar, if you'd like.
But there could be a new girl release, and the opening credits could be, "New Girls volume 69, starring Girl A, Girl B..." I guess then there's the question of whether every girl in the movie is starring in it, or only the girl most prominent on the front cover or with the biggest role in a feature. But anyway, if the girl has been on the front box cover or had the lead role, the girl has starred in porn. She's a pornstar. Not a porn superstar yet, but a pornstar. That's how I see it, anyway.

I feel porn stars are basically a type of sex-worker. Mainstream society also treats them as such. A person who acts in a few scenes and vanishes is just a sex-worker who has performed the sexual act in front of the camera for monetary reward. Perhaps we can use the word "porn-star" is he or she sticks around for some time and shows some basic acting talent in addition to performing the sexual act.

Why should anybody care to create such a sophisticated title system when you don't even care to use the search function?
