I love old Bowie. Lots of his early 70's albums like Ziggy Startdust, Jean Genie, Diamond Dogs, etc... Besides being good classic rock it's ALL about boys having the hots for other boys...
In the late 70s there was Tom Robinson Band, who started off singing gay protest songs and evolved into a popular straight-ahead rock act in a Springsteeny-but-British kind of way...
Bronksi Beat was one of the best queer dance music acts of the 80's, with songs like "Smalltown Boy" and "Why" tearing up MTV and the dance charts with blatant queer messages...
But my two favorite big hit songs are probably Lou Reed's "Take A Walk On the Wild Side" and Pete Shelley's "Homo Sapiens"...
Anyone else?
