I don't plan to add it to active topics. Maybe Popular Topics though.

OK, been on here for about an hour tonight. I really don't like it. It reduces the number of threads I can see on the screen at a time. Further, given the pastel color schemes already in place with this board (tan background, blue folders denoting new topics in a thread, etc), it's just hard on the eyes.
And on my PDA? Forget it...not even worth my time to browse the forum while on the train now. Just too much on the screen.

I hate it. Would rather just a list of topics. Please change it back.

Drew it works fine on IE when I use 1024 by 768 resolution. It only jumps to the right when my resolution is 800 by 600.

We won't be changing it back but I am working on adding the option to view the old way.

The option to go back to the old way is accessible from your profile now. To disable the display of topic previews click the My Profile link near the top of the forum pages, scroll down to the Forum Related Settings section and select "No" for the Display Topic Previews option. (Don't forget to click the update button too.)
This will switch it back to the old way. The default display format will remain the new way.

I just went into my profile and switched it back to ADT "Classic" view (no previews). My eyes can see again. Thanks for adding that Drew.....so much easier for me the old way.

Thanks Drew
Why don't you add a poll and see if the majority of people like the new format?

I think if you made the headlines bold they would stand out and be easier to scan.

If you're going to allow users a choice of post preview, you may as well go with the mouseover option. I know it's a lot of work for you, but frankly Drew I'm far too self-absorbed to think about that.

The option to turn it on/off is already done. The mouseover solution is not an option from my perspective.

You should be happy then, the post before yours and a number even before that indicate that the option to disable the display of the preview text is in your edit profile page.

Poor Drew. He hasn't yet learned that no one ever reads the instructions, nor do they listen, even when told their options.... [o\|]

Thus far 52 people have opted to turn the topic preview display off.

For myself, I go straight to Active topics since last visit when I visit this site. Therefore, I don't even see the new option. I didn't even understand what was being discussed at first - - had to go looking for it.
My first reaction would be to turn it off. But I would probably give it a chance for a while, then decide if I liked it or not.
Perhaps I'm not alone. Some others that might opt to turn it off don't even see it.

Steph suggested that I switch the default to off for users that are logged into their accounts. This would mean that those people browsing the site but not logged in get the topic preview. That might work. I'm thinking about it.

I've changed it so the default is to not display the topic preview text for logged-in users. You may need to change the option in your profile to make it stick though since the preference is set as a cookie in your browser and only gets reset if you change the option in your profile or delete your cookies.

Did you add the bolding of the title recently? I like it it helps keep the page easy to read.

I think the previous format was easier on the eye. Also, I had to do less scrolling up and down to find a topic that I like.

I don't really know if I'm even in the right forum for this question...Sometimes I can see peoples avatars and post titles, and sometimes they are half way hidden behind the "tool bar" or whatever you want to call the thing that has Search Movies: Search Reviews: Search the forum:
I don't understand all the talk about changing whatever to 11.5px or something....I don't know. Dumb it down a little for those of us who aren't as computer literate.

The mark all forums read currently isn't available, it's talked about in the other changes thread here in Tech Talk.

Can we get the topic preview on the Active Topics page for those of us who select that view?
