This is a great concept from writer David Stanley and director Chuck Lords (Paul Thomas). Evan Stone plays a lunkhead porn star who can't get it through his head that not all women want to be roughed up. All he wants to do is call them dirty little whores, smack the bitches up and ram various things up their asses. Briana, playing herself, tries to get across the concept of "no." (A behind-the-scenes interview indicates that this is in some way based on her interaction with Rocco.)

It's played for comedy, and Evan's arrogance and frustration are pretty goddamn funny in more than one scene. Of course, he ends up getting a predictable comeuppance courtesy of the entire female cast of the movie.

The movie pretty much gets to have its cake and eat it. The first scene, between Evan and Naudia Nyce, is a prototypical "rough" scene -- slapping, spitting, choking, verbal abuse, non-consensual role play, the usual shit (though when he slaps her in the face, there's a quick, discrete cut to the title card with the name of the movie; we see the swing, and we hear the smack, but are spared the sight of the impact). It's a little ironic that a Vivid movie about the perils of rough sex would open with this kind of ravaging, but it wakes you up.

It's pretty intense, but the second scene lightens things up. Here we have Briana and Naudia in a three-way with Tommy Gunn, with comic interruptions by Evan. Then comes the heart of the movie: Evan and Briana, and their failure to communicate. Talk about a grudge fuck. Evan ends up with a black eye, and Briana... I would hate to include a spoiler on the denouement of this scene, but I laughed out loud. And rewound and replayed about 20 times.

Briana moves on to have friendlier sex with Joel Lawrence, and we wrap up with Evan vs. Samantha Ryan, Kelly Kline and Jamie Brooks.

Pros: Briana looks as if she does have about one ounce of fat on her, which is a big improvement over when she really had none. She looks better here (for my taste) than I've seen her with Vivid. But she should stay away from her "Oh" face (you know, from "Office Space" -- "Oh! Oh!"). When she breaks into a smile, she's about 14 times hotter. She's really quite pretty, and the smile is much better than the sex snarl.

*Once again, a porn movie about porn is a cheap way of giving the sex scenes a reason for being, but it works. It's better than the narrative-killing throw-in scenes that plague most features.

*A lot of the dialogue appears to be improvised, in that loose "Curb Your Enthusiasm" style. It's accomplished better than you might guess. Some of the handheld camerawork supports this vibe as well.

Cons: Some apparent looping of sex, but at least it's from a different camera angle. I guess this replaces Vivid's "multiple angle" feature. It didn't happen so much that it annoyed me, though, and it wouldn't take much of it to piss me off. Worth noting, however.

*Those goddamn unskippable ads at the beginning of the disc. I won't stop complaining until they stop putting them there.

*The picture quality is better than in some of the piss-poor Vivid transfers I've been seeing lately, but it's still subpar.

Verdict: My favorite feature of 2005, not that that's saying so much so far. I think there are themes here that could interest a lot of youze.
