I've been informed that t two of them actually faulted but I have no evidence of this
the companies are Pink'o who ceased its activity early this year and now Topline and Moonlight Video followed.
For those who don't know who they were Pink'o was maybe the major company in Italy and the owner of a number of contract girls including Roberta Gemma, Claudia Antonelli , Edelweiss , Belicia and many others but for no apparent reason they can't sell enough to maintain the company in the business so they closed
Topline was a distributor, reseller and producer with the same fate they resisted more than Pink'o but eventually they ceased too , an unconfirmed rumor says they actually faulted
Moonlight Video was also the distributor of many major titles including those of Vivid
rumor , again unconfirmed so far says that they also faulted
Pink'o was the only one smart enough to get out before faulting
Rocco himself had problems with his distributor in Italy (the same of Evil Angel)
Other companies though seem to have no problem Red Hot , 10 hex 100 or Thema for example
this happened so suddenly that it is unclear what caused it , piracy can't be the only reason , it is not likely that almost all the porn consumers in Italy begun to download what they wanted , also it is unlikely the they damaged only the major companies but not the smaller , these latter should have been the first in line to fault if it was a general change in Italy
I'm trying to understand what could have caused this sudden amazing drop of sells for them all

Interesting thread, perhaps it is related to the economy of many European nations which are in very bad shape. It can have an effect on corporations and the adult industry in general.

This could be although Italy wasn't in that bad shape, none of Italy's Banks faulted its problem is more structural , but now the general state of World's Economy is now hitting Italy too , but it is true that the middle class had some problems , so this could be a cause ,but not alone I guess.

The implication that the companies were entirely supported by the Italian market may be wrong. I certainly contributed my fair share to their bottom lines.
Furthermore, we don't know the margins these companies were operating on. That is to say, a reduction in sales that might inconvenience one company may suffice to put another under water.

You may be right but surely featured movies spoken or dubbed in Italian are of less interest in other markets than in that internal I mean why someone should buy Savanna Samson's Been Blackmaled with the alternative title "Vanità" (Vanity) completely dubbed in Italian and with no extras?
Furthermore in the case you said than it is even more strange what caused them to close it is impossible that all of their customers begun to pirate their movies at once in the whole Europe.
But it is true I don't know what their margins were , it is interesting though that another company (Thema) produces featured movies in location and maintain contract stars (Monica Maserati , Dayana Borromeo, Alessia Roma among the others all unknown in the USA I believe) but doesn't seem to suffer this much
Pro-am production are strangely balanced one closed last year (Hans Rolly) another two years ago (Roy Parsifal) but has been bought by another company and is now if not raising strong at least selling its fair share
10 hex 100 another pro-am seems to be living well

Interesting. Funny enough if countries were more lax on pornography and certain drug types, their economies would likely improve.

^Meaning in this particular case?
Surely has had its share of blame but I can't think it could affect to that extent in such brief time , all happened in less than three months

Not to fret my Italian brothers and sisters. FyreTV will be launching in Italy this August both independently (preview site is fyretvitalia.com) and directly built in to the app stores of one of the largest TV manufacturers in the world (this is actually a pretty big frikkin deal as it is the first day 1, off-the-shelf implementation of an adult app in to a connected TV on the planet, more details in the coming months).

It's kinda appalling that from the link "chi siamo" (who we are) there's a link to a site called videoshock which sells videogames , hope the opposite way is impossible since the majority of their customers are minors

Hi Laurie- Our partners in Italy have numerous business interests, including a video game retail site (which will not be linked to on the official FyreTV Italy site). If you check the video game site, there is no link back to the Italian FyreTV preview site. Just as an FYI- The average gamer is 37 years old and has been playing for 12 years. Eighty-two percent of gamers are 18 years of age or older.

The average player maybe but MANY minors is also correct , furthermore being a player myself I certainly play very less than in my younger years say 1 or 2 game per year now instead of 2 or 3 games a week back then , this means that the younger players play and thus buy much more than an average player
anyway i wasn't making any accusations it was weird to see and that's all

Why is it weird? Amazon sells both Digital Playground and Pampers. Any bookstore I've ever been carries both Playboy and Everybody Poops. Netflix offers Batman cartoons and old Skinemax flicks, etc, etc, etc.
Did I have more time to play on my NES as a kid than I do now because I didn't have a full time job? Sure. But do I own more games for my PS3 now because I have a job and don't have to wait until my birthday or Xmas to have mommy and daddy buy me one? Oh yeah.

Funny, I had the same thoughts but held back from saying it. The infrastructure in Italy is archaic, not sure how business friendly it is either. I wouldn't set up shop there.

Actually Netflix offers X-Rated films too. I have viewed a number from the 70s and another is titled, "Short Bus" where there is a brief group sex scene. They get away with this by listing the films as "NOT RATED", which is a cop out. Any kid can rent them and get their pornography if they find them. The sex scenes are short but they are full hardcore. I can run down the titles if you wish, let me know, off hand I don't recall them.

I'm not saying it isn't true but we're talking about long established companies faulting all at once , this has nothing to do with bureaucracy it is unlikely that such problems may kill them all but not the others.
what you said could be true for Starmat which is a distributor and owns some labels including Showtime, FM and maybe epmhard , they moved from Rome to Milan and might have that kind of problem

Silvio Bandinelli said yesterday in an Interview aired by Italian State TV (incredible) RAI 3 which made a special on porn crisis or better the end (almost) of porn productions in Italy , Bandinelli said that whether to produce an average movie (he meant not in location) € 15,000 are needed , but as of now they can afford to spend no more than € 5,000 otherwise not even the expenses would be covered, but with such a low budget you can only have low rates starlets and just a single set , which might even sell less than than today's average

Just a take on the Italian porn industry without any concrete proof to back up my thoughts but I think the porn industry in Italy is no different from any industry in Italy. This country has major economic problems as do many countries throughout Europe and the adult business is just another hit taken by money problems.
What you have had in Europe for some time is a socialist, entitlement society that hands out benefits to the people without having the revenue coming in to sustain this. Eventually this will implode and there will be chaos. People want their handouts and when they do not get them they eventually will riot and the country will become unstable. The business environment in Italy is not friendly, so companies leave or close shop.
It is rather pathetic that adult companies can no longer sustain their costs in a country such as Italy.
The situation in Italy parallels what we have in the USA today with a debt that is so ridiculous and grows to no end and no one but the Tea Party in the USA are trying to deal with it, refusing to raise the debt limit.
How ironic that the people that want to stop raising the debt in the USA are the same people being vilified by our despicable media outlets.
What the people do not realize is this will eventually deteriorate because no one in power will address this and choose to punt the ball, ignore it, as they have done continually.
If you look at the adult industry in Italy in a broader sense, directly related to the country's financial hole, it makes sense.

This is indeed part of the problem , but actually Italian debt is not growing since 2001 , or better each government agreed not to raise the expenses they preferred to raise taxes which are now around 47% of global incomes , the amount of the debt though actually raises due to the growing interests of previous debt , these interests are growing partly because of speculations and partly because Italy's ratings have been lowered so the interests on its bonds raised.
Part of the crisis is due to competition with China especially on the Textile market , a worker in Italy costs much more than in China where actually they are almost what we would called more or less slaves. The Textile industry is one of the most important in Italy and it is one of the examples , and i didn't even mentioned the owerwhelming effect of false clothes and bags signed "Gucci" or "Fendi" or "Armani" or even "Prada"
The good point though is that whereas an American spend almost all of what he earns sometimes making debts buying with his Credit Card , an Italian saves usually around 30% of his incomes , and invests it , so 75% of the Italians are owners of their house and have not to pay any rent (there might be a mortgage though) and at least 65% of Italian debt is actually owned by the Italian themselves , a situation very different than that of Greece for example which debt was mainly owned by foreign banks and companies
Car Industry is doing well Fiat had even the means to buy part of Chrysler

I read that the reason Bersconili keeps getting re-elected is that he does not tax the middle class and the shop keepers.
So its on the rich and the workers that pay tax in Italy.
How big is the black market in Italy.
And I think that those Gucci companies turn a blind eye when Chinese factories make their stuff on night shifts and sell it as counterfeits. They are genuine.
And Italian car workers are on very high hourly rates, this cannot go on in Italy or anywhere else in the west.

Porn in Italy doesnt exist.
But it has nothing to do with economy or politics or what else.
Italian pornstars do 2, 3 movies in a year, and they think they are "the best pornstar of europe" and their movies are the best. Their movies (our movies!) suck. Theres no gonzo: there is always a thriller story or useless and nonsense friendship/love/adultery stories. It makes the movie last 3hours, and the actual fucking 20minutes.
After 2 or 3 years pornstars already retire.
And......ummm.... italian pornstars are.....four or five ladies?! Thats all.
Btw, US productions are now trying to catch the good things: Roberta Gemma (ex Missoni), Evita Pozzi, and, in the near future, Vittoria Risi for Brazzers!! We've been waiting so long for such a moment
Uh and... Pink'O didnt cease. They are trying to launch a new girl, Violetta Scott, born in 1991. We'll see.

^ man I currently live in Rome and have first hand informations, I don't know though if someone did buy Pink'O label with their title and other materials , but the company as gone , all their contract girls are free from Roberta Gemma to Brigitta Bui.
I don't know what do you mean for porno either , that of Brazzers? Gonzo? Featured?
Did you heard about the interview of Bandinelli?
He said that right now in Italy you can't afford to spend more than € 5,000 to produce a movie (around $ 6,500 to 7,000) no surprise they only can provide lame plots. A store owner told me that if a movies makes 15 rentals in 3 month is a success if the movie makes less he sells it or even gives it as a bonus to his best customers.
That is because he needs room on his shelfs for new material, nobody wants the classics anymore , anything older than a couple weeks is dead.
CentoXCento dropped its prices from € 25 for a DVD to 14.90 this means 40% off its original and well established price.

Man I live in Bologna I know italian porn lol
I didnt hear Bandinelli but dont really care about him, hes just doing that crappy movies like all the other directors... He shot many movies in Hungary or Czech, so....
And in my opinion, that 40%-off by 10 hex 100 is still a price too high for that shit made of fat or old or ugly amateur women (women?!)
Cmon, lets just say it, italian porn is dead or its just in a decades-old coma, we have to start back from Ø, until we dont accept it, we cant do anything good.

Bandinelli was only a part of a special on Italian Porn crisis aired on RAI 3 , it was only a part of it.
you miss the point , nobody is buying what they produce , also rentals are very few , you might not like 10 hex 100 "crap" but it is a niche market with a strong base , I don't like them either , for many reason but as a matter of fact they discovered both Roberta Gemma and Michelle Ferrari.
and are among those who rent more than 15 times over three months
the companies who went out of business this year are Pink'o, Moonlight and even Topline.
Moonlight was distributor of Vivid , Viv Thomas and many others
You might not like them but I can't say their material was crap

You have to consider that nowadays its way much easier to get porn from a website than going to shops and search for a dvd. EvilAngel sells 1080p HD vids, and I get it from my home, why should I go somewhere else! There is possibility to download and for international shipping... Now also FyreTV...
This is part of the old way of thinking porn.... The time of secret night escapes to buy a porn-magazine is over!
Im deeply convinced that we have to put up a real internet porn company like Brazzers. But producers prefer "quality" to "quantity", they say. Nobody can really see quality, though
The problem is that there is no "porn culture" in Italy.

I don't think all the customers became so suddenly internet fans to the point to crush all the three major companies in Italy in a row in less than THREE months.
also I'm an interr since 1993 , but can't watch my movies on my computers , I watch them on my TV that is why i still prefer a physical support to use , not to mention that I change HDD and stuff every now and then but a DVD still stay as it was , no virus can force me to delete them.
Again there are sites which sell their DVD to own by downloading them but you NEED a code to watch them , it is a lifetime code , but still you can't remove them from your computer , even with a 500 GB HDD you can't store many DVD9 on them unless you give up any other use of your PC.
Also their use has limited machines , you cant put them on any PC you want , you can't store them on an external HDD
I know that is not always the case , but still this one is already in use

Cumlouder and Leche69 are two successful HD websites from Spain. More than 1 on the way too. While Spain can do it i wonder why Italy couldn't do successful initiatives like that. As european porn we are only limited to 6-7 HD websites. (21sextury, FuckingGamble, Cumlouder, Leche69, MMM100)

I don't Know , both Selen and Rocco had their websites where you could buy scenes or entire DVDs and this even before the HD era , nobody was buying from there that of Selen closed also Rabbit and Diva Futura had if i'm not mistaken all gone.
There's also a problem in Italy that Spain apparently doesn't have it is called Monopoly there's a private company , or better a state company which was sold at 60% to some privates which owns all the phone lines and has no interest at all in improving them you can't go anywhere else , all company in Italy have to pay them for lines use or cable the entire country with their own lines , obviously they don't.
There is an optical fiber company with a 100MB speed called fastweb but the most part of ADSL lines are a virtual 7 MB I said virtual because no minimum speed guarantee exists so they divide their bandwith with many users , if few of them are online there's no problems but if they are a lot it could be slower than a diial up line , also wireless contracts are virtually unlimited but if you download more than 3 GB per month they cut your band to almost zero "to prevent piracy" they say , too bad that even legitimate users on paid sites can't use these lines
I have a business line , I pay more than others but it is a steady 12 MB , I had zero problems with my line and company so far, I could get more , but I don't really need it I already pay €29.90 per month for it
I mean with these lines it is unlikely that a pornsite could work, also do not forget the Vatican which is very powerful in Italy

Alive?
what did they produce from march?
Pink'O is dead , I believe Starmat (or maybe Red Hot which is Rocco new distributor in Italy) bought its material and brand , but no company could be alive producing NOTHING for 9 months
all was issued between january and march was actually produced and filmed earlier

^^In July they announced two new titles starring Nadia Macrì, an escort involved in one of the many Silvio Berlusconi sex scandals, the first one, "Bunga Bunga privato e pubbliche virtù" should be released in November... there are also a couple of announced titles with a new Pink'o girl, Marika Ferrero, and one of these, "Casino 45", is the first 3D Italian porn movie... finally, it was announced a new chapter for "Glamour Dolls" series...
you can easily find reliable sources on the web for these productions, and on the other hand I cannot find any source about a Pink'o "dead" except this thread.

I've been told by an operator , more than one actually and was also said on TV , again I'm talking about the company who owned the brand you're talking about the brand , it's not the same..
A little research showed that Pink'o enterprise Inc is now owned by Sins Factory , which a strong producer and distributor in Italy
on Pink'o site updated on september 8 there's no mention of any production nor movie with the actresses you said.
though they might have signed with Sins Factory.
Pink'o apparently announced they want to distribute a lot parodies and as I saw they're almost all of Vivid which confirms the bad moment of Moonlight.
Sins Factory also owns ATV and have now signed with 10 hex 100 to distribute online their content VOD , apparently all material of Pink'o is available on demand , but it was as such even before.

If you use Google with more accuracy, you can easily find really a lot of sources and "mentions" about these productions...
for example if you search "Nadia Macrì Pink'o" on Google you will find [ invalid url ]...

I didn' use any google , went directly to Pink'o site and took a good look to those called Pink'o girls listed
if their updates are shit is not my fault
I find weird to say the least that I have to use google to find news about a site than through the site himsels , I mean when I want some clean underwear I wouldn't call a policeman to investigate and seek, I should know myself.

^ well a strong evidence I may say , I also saw something even weirder , they are about to sell on demand some movies of Evil Angel's catalogue according to a news in there related to some kind of deal with EA.
Fine but I'm asking , why I have to pay the same movie at an Highest price rather than picking it up directly from Evil Angel USA?
I mean they surely charge their fee plus the cost of their servers plus the cost of some credit cards operator , plus VAT (21% apparently).
If a movie costs say an average of $ 24 that way will cost at least 30 .

second, the alot of the stars are not even italian girls.

Assuming she's right then there should be some explanation about why the company freed almost all her contract stars and mainly abvout why they didn't produce anything this year or at least from March.
