Sounds reasonable enough to me.
I'd like to think that this isn't so black and white. A lot of companies do like to hear opinions, and sometimes will actively take those opinions into consideration.
It's when people who don't really know all the angles act as if they do that it can get a little frustrating.

So for everyone, go ahead and give your opinions if you feel the need - this is an open forum after all. But as I mentioned in another thread, this is a very sensitive situation, so don't expect too many industry insiders to be openly discussing their own game plans. But just because we're not chitchatting about them in the open, doesn't mean we're not doing a whole lot of thinking.

I was actually a little offended by the end of an AVN article last week said that it's basically business as usual with people not giving Cal/OSHA any real thought. Just because a company says "no comment" on the phone to a journalist doesn't mean that they aren't discussing it behind closed doors.

If this forum existed to serve the studios I'd agree with you . Since it doesn't , I don't . Who cares if there's too much 'white noise' . None of the people who could make a difference are liable to be reading anyway . Besides , I consider the endless double cream-pie interracial stuff to be the true 'white noise' .

Let the people who don't care do it quietly .

I think the ADT forum is here for fans, talent and studios. The participation of all those groups is what makes it really something special. But I believe the topic of testing procedures is best discussed by the people in the industry. Let the people that live it fix it.

Of course fans are totally free to make assumptions, hypothesis and speculate until they turn blue and pass out. But without experience it's like listening to someone describe Europe that's never been there.

A thread dedicated to testing procedures is a good idea as it seems to be popping up in a lot of other threads. It would be a better place to talk about it than getting personal and talking down to performers in other forums (ex. Tianna Lynn in this forum and Ariana Jollee in the 65 cream pie forum)

just read this report from Hungary on machomedia.hu

The Hungarian porn scene made it's assembly some weeks ago, and it has been settled, that from november every performer has to comply with the new unwritten regulations requiring HIV, Syphilis, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea test not older than 21 days. From november, 2004 in Hungary any performer can and will refuse to shoot with a partner who does not show a conform test. We've been talking with Frank Gun on this case, who admitted that the threat is mainly coming from the constantly appearing newbie performers from the amateur section - so it's them, the professionals who has to be in control of the situation. This has been accepted by the major Hungarian directors and agents also, so they won't raise their voices whenever a shooting fails with a performer because of not having such test.

What Lee O said.

Granted, it's not as fascinating as dirty ATM or who the Minion is fucking this week ;) but I'm very interested in how these things are handled, and I can understand how concerned the performers might be. Some fans would rather not know about this stuff, and I can appreciate that, but others do.

As long as we can hold the conspiracy theories down I think these threads can be beneficial and even educational, like the news that STEMCELL just posted.

I'm interested in what industry folks have to say, and what ethical issues can be discussed. However, I think fans can be presumptuous about certain topics and jump to conclusions based on gossip, and when names are being named that can be potentially damaging to someone -- a real person -- when it's really an insider situation. I'm going to try hard not to do it myself. I guess I got ticked off by a lot of the comments made against Ariana Jollee in the "50 Guy Cream Pie" thread, because they were not grounded in certified fact. The issues are valid, I just often find that people shoot off at the mouth instead of actually making a logical contribution to the conversation.

But DB, you are the soul of clear-headed thinking, so I know this thread is in good hands

Tianna tested positive for the hep c antibody. That does not mean shi has hep c. I myself was exposed to the hep c virus several years ago while using needles to shoot my drugs. My body successfully fought off the virus by developing the antibodies. I was lucky. But still to this day I will test positive for the hep c virus antibody.

After testing positive for the antibody, (the test is usually referred to as HCV ANTIBODY SCREEN) a series of other tests are done to diagnose an infection of the hep c virus.

As far as the advice that tianna recieved from sharon mitchell at Aim, I would be hard pressed to disagree with any of it. As is well known, sharon mitchell has been living with hep c for many years, and she probably knows alot more about it than any of us.

As I posted earlier, AIM can oly make public the tests specified on the waiver(hiv, gonnorea, chlamydia and syphillis) To do otherwise would probably cause the medical direcor of AIM (dr.colin hamblin) to loose his medical liscense.

There are alot of other things that AIM is not able to report due to confidentiality laws(herpes, hpv, giardia, trichomonis, bacterial vaginosis, hep a&b, etc.)

This will never be a safe industry. The best that can be hoped for is to contain and minimize the exposures through a constant and repetitive testing program. And a couple of condoms now and then certainly wouldn't hurt either, but since the proc=ducers think they will hurt the profit margin, you can rest assured you won;t be seeing any of them in the near future. This is a risky buissness, but lets not shoot the messanger when something that we all know is going to happen finally does happen. True reform will only come when THE PRODUCERS decide that lives are worth more than money, and sadly, we know where most, not all, of the producers stand on this issue.$$$$$$$$$$$

Not all fans are ignorant or inexperienced in matters of STDs and their prevention , my friend . Having sex while someone points a shaky video camera at you doesn't alter the realities that we are all faced with . As to the question of non-insiders keeping their traps shut because they don't know what they're talking about : that's an interesting point . However , as with politics and the environment , sometimes I feel it's something worth making an arse of myself over . Not being on the inside can be an advantage in these type of discussions : how many porners are likely to make statements which could lose them work ?

I agree with Skronker that individuals shouldn't be picked on , especially when it's all based on a flimsy rumor to begin with , and I hope my posts in these threads haven't come off that way . However I get equally ticked off at the gushers who come in to defend these performers no matter what . As if they were immune from making mistakes or doing the wrong thing . Come on guys , even the smartest cookie can screw up . It might also be worth wondering how a studio/agent might post on these boards if they wanted to safely push their viewpoint . It's surprising how many porn girls are now on the web , isn't it .

True, that doesn't guarantee they're experts but they should at least be able to give us insight into what they are required to do now. I would assume they are more experienced than us (sadly my wife has so far refused requests to film Oatmeal's reverse gangbang) and have to deal with this much more frequently than we fans do.
Good point. We just know there are some fans that add to discussions that just don't know what they're talking about and do it in a negative way. Skronker made this point in his post.
for sure. the discussions should revolve around existing practices and any changes that need to be made. People should only be referenced by their job class (Producer, Performer, AIM, etc)

Should this topic be moved to another forum and/or thread? Title changed as well?

Rumours always attract sensational people. Unfortunately these are often so vocal that all 'reasonable statements' and facts drown in clamour. When the brayers team up with other people's gibberish about ‘smart-aleck’ behaviour we usually end up in a fruitless discussion.
Sometimes like in this HEP C discussion it's best to say nothing but state some general information about the disease in question and just wait until things get cleared up by the talent herself.
In other cases like this 65 guy creampie thing there is not much to defend from the producer side as the risks are well known and can't be overcome with current testing methods.
I guess it's best people just calm down in here and wait til the facts are laid down.

On a sidenote to skronker/Tricia on this creampie/OSHA thing:
-You are not?, skip this-
I struggle myself what's a reasonable compensation between risk for the talent pool and personal freedom of the single
performer. Where to draw the line? For me creampie gangbangs are clearly off limits. I can't cheer up to the producers doing so. On the other hand, The very last thing I want to do is attack other talents. So all I can do is repeat and repeat and repeat the dangers creampies imply.
Some people invest hughe efforts to generalize such anxious voices as 'anti-porn' , smarty-pants etc.
Whatever prejudice comes to mind it will be used to try marking those who care as 'unrealistic', 'quixotic' preaching to the winds. Usually ignoring every fact that speaks against an ideal world of talents much less at risk than the average joe, brilliant statistics to proof their views and the ongoing protestation of innocence until the next health hazard hits. I don't want to be a Cassandra, but when the trend towards high risk acts with newcomers even rises it's really just a matter of months to welcome the next disaster.
These forces trying to drive porn off California might not even need another outbreak they seem determined to stay their course. But this dicussion should take place in the OSHA thread anyway. Just wanted to point out to you that I appreciate your efforts to shelter talents from this rumour hype, while at the same time pointing you towards behaviour of certain producers that is off limits like arranging a 50+ creampie gangbang. I think you realize how difficult it is to bring something across in such an enviorment in a way that does not backfire on the performer. At any point someone can drop in and your cautious chosen words suddenly turn into spears and the discussion gets somewhat hostile. For once I'm clueless how a thread for such an 'undisturbed' dicussion could look like. What I do know however is who in this community won't contribute anything than wishy-washy statements, besides it's an act of courtesy not to generalize and to try to address people with their names, people who don't do so obviously shy away from a fruity discussion, wether this to protect 'future plans' or just due to lack of arguments remains unsaid, it just doesn't look good. So people who think they have ideas how to improve something should be encouraged to tell the world rather than sneered at. I for once don't have a magic wand to solve all problems the LA industry now faces, however I do have a magic wand of reflection and it has unlimited charges Yet nobody told me I've lost the gift of gab And Tricia, I have high hopes Evil Angel can be a leading voice in the future when it comes to health care and internal discussions with other companies you don't want to make public by now.

someone put that the AIM test, tests for AIDS, clamydia, gonorhea, and syphilis. I dont think it tests for syphilis. Maybe it does. Also, I am not clear, does Hep C show up anywhere on an AIM test?

I know that better then anyone else. :) That's a problem with society though and most likely always will be. Once you're accused, you're guilty in the eyes of your peers. With the help of gossip mongers, press and haters...it makes it even worse.
They test for Syph usually on your first visit to AIM and then whenever you ask for it. It's not a requirement.

AIM advertises a hepatitis C test. Sharon Mitchell periodically mentions tests that aren't on their list, so apparently they can arrange for any test that needed, even if it isn't advertised.

I've been testing at AIM monthly since February, and periodically before that. I'm not a porn talent so an every 30 day test isn't req'd for what I do.

Although, lately, because I'm heavily involved in "the scene" and on occasion "play", I like to be responsible about it and have a current test on file.

That said, I've never been offered or told to have a Syph test at AIM. I've had 'em with my regular Doc but it was not requested by AIM at any time, start of testing or 6 months later.

They list me as "male talent" because I've shot a few things so you would think the program should be the same, right?

I know the test is available. I also know they offer Herpes tests (something I still think should be req'd in the normal testing), they offer a variety of services. But if you want them, you have to ask for them specifically, otherwise it's just the basics.

Regardless: Cytherea will be having Tianna Lynn on her KSEX show Thursday night @ 5pm (PST). I'll be curious to see what she has to say on this whole issue.

every 6 months aim does a syphillis test on everybody who tests that month. Last month, september, was 'SYPHILLIS MONTH; From what I was told by a lady at aim, the county of l.a. runs the tests, not the private lab that they use for the other tests. Thats why you dont see it on the regular copy of the test results you get at aim.
I gave a ride to one of the guys in my building to the Aim clinic about two weeks ago. We had a pretty good chuckle when the lady said "ITS SYPHILLIS MONTH"

This is simply a question.

Do I, as a producer, have a right to ask the performers that I shoot for a full panel test before I agree to shoot them? I'm always willing to pay for these tests.

Currently, I check only for gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, and HIV.

Shouldn't the tests also include hepatitis?

No offense to Tianna, I think she's a cool girl. But I have a difficult time believing she'd work much unless she validates her current hepatitis situation. The rumor is already out, for good or for bad.

When will these people in porn realize that the time for games is over. OSHA and the others that hate porn are not playing games anymore. They are out for blood and they will use anyone or any excuse to shut it down for ever.

Well Tianna deserves the right to defend herself. I think she should do it tonight so that it can be put to rest one way or the other. So she can move beyond this.

But this is situation has gone far beyond Tianna Lynn and is more of question of what AIM should reveal to the studios and other performers about someone's condition. And should they still be working if they are infected with a STD. Questions that the all in the porn industry should take to heart.

Darklord, AIM can only make public the tests that are specified on the waiver. Any other tests are as confidential as if you had them done at your private doctor. Should other tests be included? Maybe, but that is up to the talent in the industry to decide. If they were able to get together and decide that other tests should be required, or the testing should be 2x per month instead of once, then maybe AIM would accomodate them.(herpes anyone)

Chico, a couple of questions in return. This isn't an attack. You've raised an ethical issue and I'm responding with a related issue.

First, about three years ago AIM did a study with over four hundred performers, and discovered that 10% of them had hepatitis B or C. There was and probably still is a relatively high percentage of performers with HCV (hepatitis C virus).

Question 1: Given the prevalence of HCV among performers, why focus on Tiana? If HCV is serious enough to demand verification of Tiana's status, why isn't it serious enough to demand verification of every performer's status? If it's not serious enough to demand verification of every performer's status, why is Tiana a problem?

Question 2: Tiana told Luke Ford that AIM said she is no longer carrying HCV. Her agent told Gene Ross that Sharon Mitchell said that Tiana isn't contagious. She's had the tests and she's been told she can't infect anyone with HCV. Few of the performers she works with have been tested. The odds are that some of them have HCV. The performers she works with are a greater risk to her than she is to them. Why does she need to give up her privacy and confirm her status when most of the other performers haven't been tested? Why does she need to do something no one else is willing to do?

I think that you have solid grounds for demanding tests for any STD as long as you demand them for every performer, without exception. I believe that HBV, syphilis, and herpes are bigger risks for performers than HCV. Maybe it's time for the adult industry to discuss expanding the panel of mandatory tests.

I just got off the phone with Tianna, because I worked with her a little while ago and had no idea that she had Hep C.

She explained what happened. If any of you are interested in the story she will be explaining herself on KSEX Radio today at 5pm pacific time.

What good are tests on infectious sexually transmitted diseases if it's left up to the infected to police themselves? Who's running the prison?

It sounds like there needs to be a central organization that gives the thumbs up or thumbs down on performers. They also need to ensures that the 'thumbs down' performers don't work until they get a clean test.

It's up to the industry or the government to make this happen. Which is your pick?

IF you are paying an agent to represent you and that paid agent releases confidential medical information about you that damages your carreer, the agent can be held liable in civil court for damages. IF your paid agent releases medical information about you that is NOT TRUE, then that agent isn't worth #$#@%.
There are two things that Tianna should do IF her agent did this; 1. get a good attorney and take that agent for everything he has. 2.get another attorney to make sure the first one doesn't rip you off.

best wishes and good health to Tianna.
There is a latin phrase"iligitibus non carborundun" basically it means 'dont let the bastards wear you down.'

Here's a rehash of the last few days.

Tiana was tested two years ago in rehab, wasn't told the results, and assumed that no news is good news. After a couple of years in which she probably had a lot of other things to worry about, her concern about the test results grew to the point that she had herself retested. The antibody test was positive, which meant that she had had HCV at some point, but the viral test was negative, meaning she doesn't have HCV now. She's going to have the viral test done again, as CDC recommends, in order to ensure that she doesn't have HCV.

AIM is bound by law not to reveal personal medical information unless the person has signed a release. In this case, there's no release, so everyone at AIM kept their mouths shut.

After Tiana started telling people about the tests and people started getting concerned, Tiana's agent confirmed that Sharon Mitchell had said that Tiana could safely continue as a performer. Because he was confused about the disease and concerned about other performer's health and his own liability, he stopped booking her.

Tiana did the responsible thing in having herself tested. AIM did the responsible thing in not talking about her status. Tiana's agent did the responsible thing in not talking about her status until Tiana started talking about it, and then confirming what Tiana was saying. It wasn't necessary for him to stop booking her, but he was confused and was trying to ensure that no one got hurt.

Hepatitis C is a nasty disease. Nobody in their right mind wants to be exposed to it. When word got out that Tiana had a positive antibody test, performers rightfully started worrying about their own health. Miscommunication and confusion about antibody tests and viral assays and infection and who said what added to the anxiety. Possibly some feelings got hurt.

Everybody did the best they could, given the information they had. Everybody tried to act ethically and comply with the law. The worst that happened was that some people got confused.

40% of the population, both porn and non-porn, has some form of sexually transmitted condition. Most of these diseases are more infectious than hepatitis C and some can do just as much damage if not treated. Maybe this is a good time to expand the mandatory testing to cover more STDs?

From what it reads it sounds like a flawed system to me. Can anyone explain what would have happened had she been positive? Would AIM have had the power to do anything or notify anyone? Would the performer be allowed to continue working? Would the performer be responsible for policing themselves?

Listening to part of the show last night, it appeared that people are confused about the meaning of these tests, especially what is meant when someone gets a postive result on an antibody test, versus viral load test, versus other kinds of STD tests.

It might be helpful if AIM would post on their website, not just the tests that they offer, but what it is they are exactly testing for (antibody, viral load, presense of bacteria, etc.) and what happens if you get back a positive reading (take antibiotics for 5 days, or need further tests, or need other treatment, etc.).

Renee, Aim has a tape called PORN 101. It is available to everyone in the industry and i think you can purchase one from them also. Every newbie in the biz is given a free copy the first time they visit AIM. It has been available for years. It answers all of the questions you posed.(they are good questions)

I watched it two days ago. They even have the medical director of aim, dr. colin hamblin, answering frequenly asked questions. It also features sharon mitchell and nina hartley.

Having read alot of old stuff on this board the last few days, I think there is a critical misunderstanding about AIMS role in the adult biz. On another sit called adultfyi there was a 'poll' done during the recent hiv outbreak about whether sharon mitchell should step dowm. The result they published said 75% NO. One of the choices in the poll was something like,'she should stay but be under the direction of a REAL M.D. AIM has always had doctors on their staff. I saw an aim result yesterdsy and it says right on it Dr, Colin Hamblin.

HOw could an industry site like adultfyi not know this?

If the test results say dr. hamblin, why is everyone up in arms about sharon mitchell not making a statement about Tianna's condition. If the hep c test is confidential(no waiver signed to release info) then whats the problem.

The scariest thing is there are problably quite a few people in the industry who actually have hep c but have never been tested for it and aim cant force anyone to take any tests. It will be interesting to see if the adultfyi site that ran the headline "Tianna LYnn has hep c" will do a retraction. If they have any journalistic integrety at all they should clear this mater up. That same article said they had a 'strong source' for that info. Since that infor was incorrect will they name the "source" who gave them that false information?(lawsuit anyone)

Oatmeal you are correct. This is a flawed system. BUt the entire industry is a flawed industry. There is no cohesion between the produsction companies, and more importalntyly it appears that there is no cohesion among the performers.
I think AIM does the best they can in this very imperfect situation, but if anybody has any suggestions lets hear them. And if those suggestions cost money then please try to think of some way to pay for it. From what I understand each individual pays for their own tests.

How much money do the production companies donate to AIM?
Some insight from the industry insiders on this board would be very interesting.

Maybe a new thread on this subject should be started as this seems a bit off topic from the original post

With all the excitement of the Presidental race coming to an end, we begin to get back to our normal lives. My life here in pornland is moving on as well....During a past epsiode of All in the Porn Family, Chris and I addressed the issue of a possible Hepatitis C infection in our industry. Because so many have expressed concern and ignorance toward the issue, we felt it was our duty to help educate ourselves and others on this difficult issue.

Dr. Sharon Mitchell, founder of AIM Healthcare, the testing authority of the adult business, will be joining us on the sofa of www.ksexradio.com to explain the virus, it's causes, and how to prevent the spread of Hep C. Dr. Mitchell is an expert on the issue at hand having lived with the virus for over 15 years. This show promises to answer all the questions that have been brought to light in this debate. Remember, you can listen to the show for free or join up and watch the streaming video!

I only heard the very end. I'm glad to know she'll be on again tonight. IIRC, Mitchell said Tianna had the "hep c antibody" but may never have a full blown outbreak.

I am going to do something I rarely do in public on ADT, and that is make a judgement. Sharon says Tiana Lynn is safe as long as she shoots with condoms.

And what are the chances that she will get any work while wearing a condom????

What are the chances she will get work with a condom in CZECH???

Why did she have to leave LA and go work in Czech if she is so safe?

Especially since she does not do anal anymore.

Is her squirting specialty something that makes her more likely to transmit Hep C?

Will she tell her male talent that she has Hep C before every scene?

This is different than the other STD's that we all share with each other!!!

I WANT to be proven wrong on this, but it simply does not add up that a hottie like Tianna Lynn goes to Czech to work when EVERY girl in Czech knows she will get more work if she was in LA.

This is NOT a subject to tiptoe around. Hep C fucking kills you.

I CANNOT MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I AM ONLY ASKING LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS.... I AM NOT ACCUSING.

I haven't read this entire thread, so I apoligize in advance if this has already been posted. If sex with multiple partners was part of my job, I wouldn't feel comfortable working with someone with HCV...

I got this from cdc.org--

I sadly have to work late this evening, so I won't be able to listen/chat(KSEX) tonight during All In The Porn Family. I just hope the questions asked of Sharon Mitchell will not be slanted in a "bad bad Tianna" way. I know I read that Tianna said she would be condom only. I really think there are other things going on in Porn that deserve the attack dog approach more than a young woman who appears to be doing things the way she has been advised by DOCTORS. There are directors getting 18 y/o girls drunk filming them doing sex acts they have never done, directors negotiating/pressuring girls on sets, and people shooting sex scenes that are putting girls health in immediate danger(not a small risk like Tianna).

I guess what I am saying is I would be really behind you in searching out BS, but I just wish they were issues that would really fix problems or make things better for performers.

I would like to know from any of the actual performers on this board how many performers in the industry in southern california have ever tested for hep c? It seems that there are many in the industry who have DEMANDED to know the exact status of tianna, but they themselves have never been tested.

Isn't it quite hypocritical of anyone to come down so hard on tianna when the vast majority of performers have never even tested for it. They know less about there own hep c. status than tianna does. Does anyone else see the hypocrisy in all of this?

I would imagine there are at least a few performers in the industry who have dabbled in the types of behavior that make one succeptible to hep c.(needle sharing)

I don't get it. Two weeks ago it was reported that she has the antibody, but not the virus.

Now people are saying "condom only".

One of these two statements has to be wrong. They cannot both be correct. What gives ?

The silence on this topic after Sharon's appearance on KSEX last night is deafening.

She made it seem like having the hep c antibody wasn't a big deal. Mitchell herself has the hep c antibody. I think she said she was diagnosed in 1989 or 92... She said the virus is at it's most virulent (sp?) when certain antibodies (ALT and something else...) are elevated. Tianna Lynn's weren't elevated when she was tested. She said the responsible thing to do is to keep your viral load monitored, wear condoms and absolutely, positively avoid blood to blood contact.

I don't know what to think. I know I wouldn't want to risk getting something I can't get rid of...

I must say Im getting concerned that this issues are becoming more common in latest times in the porn bussines.
HIV, now Hep C, whats next?

Damn, whats the fuck matter with a/ related affected performers, b/ their agents?
What the fuck is with their responsibility?
Im annoyed! Nobody relevant cares! Damn it!

Everything I can say is: Hey you good guys and pretty girls shooting in Czech now, watch out!!!.

Im worried whats going on.

Lance,

The issue resolved itself how I've been saying it would through this whole thread. Sharon Mitchell did what she could legally do. Tianna followed all the recommendations from her DOCTORS. Alana & Chris Evans corrected themselves for hyping up the false assumption that Tianna was doing something dirty. All that is really left to talk about is Tianna's shady ass agent that started this whole thing. Sharon & Alana made a brief comment about the "person" that started this, but they didn't name him. I will though, it was Tim from Naughty Modeling. He went to Gene Ross I believe it was and aired Tianna's personal business. I've wondered through this whole thing what was his reason for doing it. I believe he may have found out she was considering changing agencies, so he decided to cause trouble for her career. Either that or there was something personal going on between them.

Anybody that wants to see how this situation was resolved. KSEX has the the show FREE to view on their website. Here is the link....
