It seems to work very well for performers who made a big splash(no pun) early in porn, created a loyal following and are now taking their loyal followers to join these sites where the performers are now posting new material which is mostly low budget, amateur-like stuff that is stress-free to make for them and probably more importantly, with no fees from an agency. I don't know what cut of the income these sites demand from performers but it can't be much since many are saying that they make more money doing this than shooting for professional porn studios. Now I'm not hating on them for doing the smart thing but I don't like these type of 'movies', I haven't joined any of these sites and from the few previews I've seen it's of low quality and not satisfying. Certainly not compared to the movies they shoot on porn sets. But I think this is a threat to the industry on top of the piracy, in the upcoming years I see them declining further and more and more performers going this route. It could reach a point where newcomers only use mainstream porn to make a name and following to use for their personal fan pages later, we might see a future where we no longer have a section of top tier veteran performers who are actively shooting like now. What will be there to gain for them if they can make more money with a lot less stress and hard work going this other route? [Link] |

There are lots of girls who may be great performers who can't make it big with the big studios but could build a following or supply a niche that the studios don't. In any case, I don't think any of this will have a big affect on the studios because they've built a brand that people like and turn to and offer the option of many girls to choose from instead of paying for just one girl. They are different types of sites on three key elements. 1-You have to pay for each individual video on MV but you get complete access to everything on OF for one monthly rate 2-You can see everything you are buying on MV but have no clue what you will get on OF until you join. 3-You can save the content you bought on MV but you can only stream the stuff on OF. I'm not going to repeat everything I already posted in the other thread but the gist of my argument is that most OF pages are pure cash grab on the part of the owners of that platform and by extension the various performers who use it because I think that the vast majority of the content is complete garbage with the odd amazing pearls of joy. The fact that you have to pay at least 10$ and I have seen as high as 25$ for content that you haven't seen and won't until you pay tells me everything that I need to know. I would gladly pay 20$ to 30$ for a video that I knew exactly what I was getting for that money(I have bought clips4sale videos before) but you won't get me to fork over even a 1$ for what is unknown. I'm all for performers using any (legal) means to earn a living. That's why I have no problem with MV but OF is a different story for the reasons I stated. My big fear is that many newbies are being sold a bill of sale for what is essentially a lemon because I get the feeling (maybe wrongly) that they think they can use their short foray into the porn industry to start a kind of solo model site (the OF system) where they will earn more money than they could doing porn. Maybe at first but how many repeat customers will most performers get if all they have are a dozen 2 to 5 minute solo videos where they don't do much? Read A_Fan's post because he has tried a few OF pages. As much as I would like to blame MV, OF or any other means that performers use to earn a living. The reality is that there are more people stealing content than there are paying for it and that's why these women look for other ways to earn a living. The are simply too few studios shooting porn on regular basis to permit every performer to earn enough to cover their cost of living. I mean if a performer was getting multiple bookings each week then she would have less time available to shoot videos for MV and OF. She would probably also be less inclined to do those things because she would want to rest and relax between all those shoots. Now that doesn't mean that they wouldn't find time to do the odd MV or OF type videos but these would be done in conjecture with their normal shooting schedule for porn studios. [Link] |
