Since she reads our forum (thanks, Tina  ) I thought you guys might be able to provide some feedback. In your ideal world what extras and features would you like to see on Tina Tyler's Favorites? How about a photo gallery of silly pictures that make fun of the typical porn shots. Bloopers - real ones - come on doesn't any guy ever put it in the wrong hole? dr-hypothesis I think a commentary could be really funny - ala mystery science theater - if you can't make fun of your own work who can. I agree - forget multiple angles. ----------------------------------------- All and all what I really want to see on a disc and in porn in general is personality and humor. What I find really helpful is a who's who at the beginning of each scene. Theatrical and DVD release dates are nice too. Trailers make me buy more (so from a biz perspective I would suggest adding them in.) That's all off the top of my head. I'll have to put some more thought into it... [Link] |

A real bonus would be a link to that actress' scene in another movie, which would conveniently have a trailer available. Okay - this is weird, but I'd like to hear the director getting off to the scene on the commentary track. Hey, have some fun making these extras... I want a three minute, behind the scenes clip of every female actress in that movie lined up, doing a nude rockettes number to the delight of the camera crew. Here are some must-have DVD features: * Nice and Well-designed Menus. They should reflects the movie's theme. There are so many adult DVDs that it is impossible to tell what movie you are watching because the menus are so generic or lackluster. * Full Motion Video Chapter Selection Menus. This is standard on nearly all DVDs today: a thumbnail video window for each of the scenes in the movie so people can jump directly to a scene. * Intelligent Chapter Breaks. For some reason, adult studios place their DVD chapter breaks in strange places. When you press the track forward button on the remote, you should go to the start of the next scene, not some arbitrary point in the movie like the middle of a sex scene. * Worthwhile Biography Pages. Most bios included on DVDs are really pathetic. Not only are the photos of the stars often unflattering, but the information is sparse (usually just a data sheet with vital statistics). The better bios I've seen have some sort of narrative about the stars. Some also allow you to jump directly to a star's scene from his or her bio. Under the category of extras to include if appropriate: * Cast and Crew Commentaries. This is one of my favorite features because I get to hear lots of gossip, anecdotes, and technical details about the productions. It also gives fans a chance to learn more about the stars over the course of 80-90 minutes instead of an interview or chat. * Behind the Scenes Documentaries. A lot of fans are eager to see what goes on behind the camera and off-screen. It doesn't matter if the documentary is a polished and edited one (like the ones for Wicked's Conquest or Flashpoint or just a series of behind-the-scenes outtakes. * Bloopers. Everyone loves a good laugh! * Deleted or Bonus Scenes. Unlike VHS where there is very limited space, DVD can hold quite a bit more video content, so extra footage would be pretty easy to include. * Preview Trailers. This should be a no-brainer...a chance to plug your other releases in front of a captive audience. Many people use the trailers as a kind-of buying guide, so the more, the better. Finally, here are some things to avoid at all costs: * Photo Galleries. Unless there are a lot of high quality production photos available, it's not worth the effort or the space to include a gallery. Not only can you get better photos off the Internet, but with a DVD player, you can pause the movie on a single frame with near-photo quality results. * "Virtual Reality" Menus. Video game-like menus are a waste of time. The last thing someone who's bought or rented an X-rated movie wants to deal with having to navigate through a virtual hallway interface. * Phone Sex/Website Ads. While these are standard intros to VHS tapes, it is so incredibly cheesy to see studios put links on their main menus to these recycled 1-900 number ads. Please hide them in a dark corner of the DVD, and for God's Sake don't preface the movie itself with them! * Multiple Angles. Multiple camera angles take up a large amount of space on the disc that could be used for something more interesting. From a technical perspective, it's difficult to present multiple angles well. First of all, the sound often doesn't synch with the different angles. Also, putting a visual reminder (such as a logo or picture-in-picture window) only ruins the mood of the film. Finally, as many people have pointed out to me, if you're enjoying the scene, why on earth would we want to fumble with a remote? If you want to include additional footage, include on the disc as separate "bonus footage." * Random Filler Video Clips. Putting hours of crappy video clips from the studio's library may sell a few more DVDs to the uninitiated, but isn't something that fans want to see. Quality is more important than sheer quantity. * Recycled Stock Content. Nothing cheapens the appearance of a DVD more than a studio that uses worn VHS masters for its studio intro, PSAs, compliance statements, etc. Since you have to produce the menus and credits for the DVD anyway, why not spend the few extra minutes to recreate the boilerplate material for use with the DVD? If the first impression viewers form about the DVD is that it looks like a cheap VHS dub, then it doesn't really matter how good the other content is--it's the crappy looking stock material that they will remember. * Exotic soundtrack formats. Unless the production sound is really good, don't waste money on producing titles in Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound. Most soundwork in porn barely holds up in stereo and at normal listening volume. Crappy sound mastered in Dolby Digital or DTS is still crappy sound. I hope those are helpful suggestions. | Reason Member 135 Posts 1/00 | Posted - Feb 24 2000 : 10:54PM If we are talking about adult DVD in general, the features I miss most are 1) alternate soundtracks: if the movie has music, it could be fun to have an alternate track with just the live sound. Some movies (e.g. dubbed Private) would be better with a music-only track. If possible, a commentary track is a plus. Tina did a very good job on the commentary of DMJ 6. (Which, technically, is an example of how a DVD should be done.) 2) interviews/behind the scenes stuff. (I'd like to see the performers take off their screen persona for a while.) Bloopers would fit in this category. 3) If the producer can put in whole extra sex scenes, I won't object. (Again, DMJ 6 is an example). As for this series, I think a commentary and anything from category 2) or 3) would be a plus. BTW I like the covers of the videos. Much better than most adult product. [Link] |

I can hear it now "ok, I'm going to do this and you moan..." What happens when an actor is sick? who fills in and how is it done? How are "fake shots" done. (I know Tina NEVER uses them) [Link] |

Commentary is also nice (when it's rightfully done) Real multiple angle (Fixed alternate camera, Regular editing on angle one and 3 extra fix ones for example) or extra angle containing reherseals (if there are any?)filmed on handheld camcorders.
