To everyone else, I'll tell you a little story about how goofy this business is. Three months ago, I was sitting at dinner with a handful of directors from other companies. For about 15 minutes, they were ranting about Johnny Darkko getting a gig with Evil. On and on, they were saying how horrible he was as a cameraman, how he didn't deserve it, how unstrokeable his videos were. Now, frankly, those spouting these invectives are some of the worst cookie cutter, generic directors I know.

So I decide to give someone I know at New Sensations a call and get a handfull of Darkko movies.

Eureka! As far as I'm concerned, he's the best new director I've seen in along time. Perhaps not in a 'heat' or 'chemistry' sense, but he's the most technically proficient videographer I've seen in a while. His ability to manipulate the camcorder with natural light and showcase the beauty of the colors within are nothing short of remarkable. And he can frame a shot perfectly and with purpose.

Certainly better than I could ever do. And most certainly much better than those motherfuckers complaining about him.

The irony is that when I told these same people that I put Darkko in my highest regards, I discovered none of these assholes ever even watched one of his movies. They were making comments sight unseen!

I think you'll find directors straying from formulaic gonzo if you look hard enough. We all have to keep the sex part honest and strokeable but it's the presentation that'll define the director.

Back to the thread topic - I recently rented a DVD, because I wanted to see Erik Everhard in a couple of scenes. I could describe every scene as follows:

I'm sure the participants had a good time (well, at least the guys did). But, could there have been a little variation, a few minutes of one man alone with the woman? How about some long shots every once in a while?

In contrast, in the BTS footage on the DVD, they show an actress and two men flirting and teasing each other during a brief break in one scene; there's even some impromtu kissing . Heaven forbid any of this made its way into the main footage.

Finding all of what your looking for is going to be really difficult. The only person/films that came to my mind that would cover most of your wishes is Peter North and his North Pole series. He doesn't do much story. He is usually pretty loving to the girls. He doesn't do a lot of Anal. He definitely rises to the occasion. The only major conflict with what you are looking for is the facial cumshot thing. Peter is the King of Cumshots. I have seen him do it on the backs of girls who don't take facials, but those are rare. If the cumshots are the least of your problems then I really recommend Peter North's North Pole series. Here are some specific ones to look for....

I do want to say that at least this movie was devoid of 'Painful Anal Scenes', which was a plus.

Shelby, it's going to be hard to find movies that don't have facials in them. The only alternatives are internal cum shots, and those aren't exactly filmed in the most alluring way. With regard to light on anal, with little rough stuff, try Zero Tolerance's Virgin Surgeon (the first one), or RLD's Fuck Doll's 2. I wrote reviews of both here on ADT.

As for finding something that showcases a man's anatomy, I'm beginning to think that the only way to see that is to watch gay porn. I think dumblonde once wrote a review of a gay film she liked, and I think Yogagrrl has written a few as well. I'm well on my way to sampling a gay title, just so I can see the camera linger on a guy's face.

(Like many other difficult to portray sexual ideas) I've had my best success in the reaction shot . A fairly indistinct fellow ends up looking pretty good if he's being gazed at adoringly by his lover, or if she's clearly delighting in his ministration. Seeing her (credible) feelings about him help us understand how we should feel about him.
