I do think that some features have a strong visual impact (such as 'Shock') that gets diminished by jarring close-ups every few seconds, so for this I'd like to see a cable cut once..

I don't know if you have the power to make any of our suggestions come true, but heck it's worth a shot. I would really like to see VCA put softcore (alternate) versions of their movies on DVD. I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to fit two different versions on one Disc. This is a generally unpopular request, but I know alot of you out there can identify with my situation. My girlfriend will watch couples-oriented porno with me. VCA puts out many movies with interesting stories and dialogue and that sort of thing. My girlfriend however, does not like close-ups. She doesn't find them erotic at all. In some cases, true multi-angle would help, but usually doesn't. I would just love to see a company release DVDs with hard and softcore versions, so that guys like me can watch these things with our significant others, while preserving the uncut version for ourselves. | Wit VCA Pictures Chatsworth, CA USA 74 Posts 7/00 | Posted - Jul 20 2000 : 11:37AM The first concern is disc space. DVDs have a limited amount of space and video takes up the majority of it. Once you start adding 2nd angles, or a complete second movie layer, it becomes a huge issue and one, we at VCA would never compromise by redcuing the video quality to accomodate more video time. The other part of the equation is branching. DVD technology is actually somewhat limited. In order to allow for seamless branching, as in multi-angles, you must share the audio track and the 2nd angle must be the same length or shorter than the first angle. If you get into bracnhing, i.e. have a seperate track for hardcore or softcore versions of scenes, you can have seperate audio and variable length. But, the disc will suffer from hesitastions at each branch point to allow for navigation. All of which would interrupt the viewing experience of the movie. All this being said, yes we have considered it and will try to implement it when the opportunity and technology allow for it. Thanks, WM [Link] |
